Smoke in-game just around cars and objects IS pixelated in GT5, unfortunately it's not due to the video quality (if else, low video quality would instead hide this flaw). We can still hope for a patch at a later time.

About the smoke, you're looking at a compressed Flash-video, not your 52" LCD at 1080p (or whatever you have at home). :)

No its not THE smoke, its the effect the smoke has on the car when seen from the front, if you look at teh edges of the cars roof or wing, when smoke is behind it being seen from the front(it looks smooth as hell from the back), the edges of the car become ultra pixelated like really bad as the smoke disappears, then (especially noticeable in Rx7 vid) it smooths out again when its gone...

The SMOKE itself looks great and smooth, but the car model suffers when the smoke appears behind it, but seen from the front.

The smoke is due to the quality of the video, watch others and you will see it looks great. The dissapearing thing was also spot it @ the ring in one of Tekken's videos, again could be the video it's self ,amar never saw anything like it so it is probably a very rare thing.

Sadly I know what I'm seeing and it's an optimisation of their graphics system, where particles are rendered at a lower resolution than the solid objects. The side effect is when a car is infront of thick particles, the edge of the car appears pixellated.
(It's actually the low res edge of the particle layer overlapping the car, despite them being further away.)
It's not the only game to use this effect, and was noticable in the demo builds too.
Technically this game has lower resolution particle effects than GT1,2,3,4 and PSP, but if you ignore the resolution (240x135?) they are superior of course.

answer is simple... photos taken by RDK and the other bloke tekken were taken in PHOTOMODE from replay... and the R8 I posted a few answers back was taken just directly from a replay ;)
So no blurry effect on the photo mode (enhanced graphics) but crappy pixelated effect on the actual replay ;) )

I know all of you have a greater knowledge in this than me and I understand your reasons and justifications 👍.Nothing horrible though.

The bad smoke has been around in previous builds. I believe GT5 is culling out the smoke that isn't visible behind objects to maximize framerate performance, but the system isn't implemented very well.

I made this GIF to make it easier to see and I was surprised when I got here to see that other people were also bothered by it. Great minds think alike, I guess. ;)

Here's a picture taken from the PHOTOMODE during a replay (no crappy edge) :

and photo during a replay (not selecting the photomode from the replay menu when you press start during a replay ?)

Tsukuba is very nice, too bad we wont be seeing a wet\rain version(so far).

HOwever the RX7 video left a sour taste in my mouth because of only ONE thing, when drifting the smoke from behind(as seen from the front) the car is extremely pixelated when blending with the car model, from behind its not an issue, but from the front you can see huge blocks of pixels until the smoke evaporates.

Theres also more disappearing scenery in the Course Maker tracks. This seems to be a common issue among Course Maker tracks(previously in the Eifel video, a mountain pops up)

Watch the Grandstand disappear.

Those are replays. You see this kind of things in almost every game (and some even during gameplay) including GT4 and GT5P. Still, seeing a direct capture for the first time, the quality is incredible. Easily surpasses GT5P and the GT Academy demo in term of tonal balance.

The only time I ever saw disapearing objects in games was when I didnt have enough system ram. As soon as I upgraded the ram that issue never happened.

I've played various builds of GT5 and the pixelation has been present in all of them. It's an issue that you'll unfortunately just have to live with. I mentioned it on another forum (along with some other graphical issues) and I got banned for it.

I guess some people can't accept that GT5 won't be perfect. Go figure.

I can live with that for sure 👍 the game looks sooo awesome (plus I will play GT5 just for nice feelings on the magnificently rendered nurburgring nordschleife !

Like amar said... stop counting pollies or frames and let's go improve our driving skills and have fun! It's like you're gonna date angelina jolie and its worried if she have bad smell on the feet or whatever really random. :P

The Car Dealership (NOTE: it is a random dealership like in GT PSP)

so is this in GT like A-spec or in Arcade mode?

please someone answer.

Thats not going to happen with some people on here. The smallest things will spark a post about how wrong it looks.

i can live with that because if it was perfect there would never be a gt6:)

Where is this link to the video? And why isn't the Veyron video posted on the first page ??

Was reading the comments on the gamekult pages; all the comments talk about how disappointed they are with the visuals and such (yes I can read french).

Guess the high expectations are unanimous.

nah, only Xbox fanboys say that if you read correctly the forums, plus they are whining from gamekult's screenshots, which are made in Standard definition and 800x600 frame.... :

EDIT : My mate has the actual game, He tells me it's just overly impeccable... Graphics are top of the line (even better than GT5P and he tested the pre build version at the Paris Motorshow) soo yeah, it's definitely just Xbox fans whining coz forza 3 looks no where near GT5

Peoples expectations of this game are so beyond any other game, it looks amazing, better than anything else, yet on the same technology. No it is not perfect because that is not possible yet!

People really need some perspective, anyone saying this game is disappointing graphically has their head up their own ass.

And at the end of the day what matters is the physics and how the cars feel!

I was only on the video comments; there was no way I was gonna try and decode french forum pages :P

Well... the ones that complain with looks, just show me any game that does look better... simple like that.

For me, it does the job. A great job. It looks good as I expected. If there's weak points, they aren't the graphics.
