You just spoke the magic words. GT5 is a game, not the holy grail. If people can't face the truth, they should go out, get a car, and have some fun with that.

I whole heartedly agree:tup:

Peoples expectations of this game are so beyond any other game, it looks amazing, better than anything else, yet on the same technology. No it is not perfect because that is not possible yet!

People really need some perspective, anyone saying this game is disappointing graphically has their head up their own ass.

And at the end of the day what matters is the physics and how the cars feel!

From what I have seen so far the graphics are beyond any other racing game on any console I have seen so far. I dont think PD can do any better with the graphics on the PS3. Lets hope the PS4 has plenty of system and graphics ram and a good graphics chip.

nah, only Xbox fanboys say that if you read correctly the forums, plus they are whining from gamekult's screenshots, which are made in Standard definition and 800x600 frame.... :

EDIT : My mate has the actual game, He tells me it's just overly impeccable... Graphics are top of the line (even better than GT5P and he tested the pre build version at the Paris Motorshow) soo yeah, it's definitely just Xbox fans whining coz forza 3 looks no where near GT5

Bro if you dont truly love GT you cant truly criticize it. Because the ones you love the most are the ones that can hurt you the most.

This smoke is a tiny detail, and its expected because they HAVE to compromise quality for function at times with all these new effects(that they havent had for long enough to know all the tricks to optimize them).

The material on Gamekult is overall of low resolution, but at any resolution you can see the pixelation.

Even with that its hands down the nicest looking car game ever. Until the next GT

Can you please just shut up about the graphics and answer me this

The Car Dealership (NOTE: it is a random dealership like in GT PSP)

so is this in GT life or in Arcade mode?

please someone answer.

Why would there be a car dealership in arcade mode??

Its in GT-Life. There are two dealerships, used and new, the used will work similar to GTPSP, and the new car dealership will just stay static.

Smoke in-game just around cars and objects IS pixelated in GT5, unfortunately it's not due to the video quality (if else, low video quality would instead hide this flaw). We can still hope for a patch at a later time.

There's nothing to patch as that's a direct result of the PS3's hardware. The only thing that they could do is scale the smoke effects back so that it's not as hardware intensive. But I doubt people would be too happy about that.

Thank you, so happy that premium cars dealership will just stay static 👍

Amen to that! 👍

I've played various builds of GT5 and the pixelation has been present in all of them. It's an issue that you'll unfortunately just have to live with. I mentioned it on another forum (along with some other graphical issues) and I got banned for it.

I guess some people can't accept that GT5 won't be perfect. Go figure.

Don't pretend you got banned for the smoke...

For the record, this "issue" is present in GT5P as well, didn't see you complain about it back then.

Actually, and sorry as this is off topic, the used dealership works more like the one in GT4 as far as I can tell. There is a certain selection of cars but it is not limited by manufacturer, just what is "in stock" at that time.

QFT 👍

So is used car lot not limited to Standard's?

Although more smoke effect and track looking damp with puddle of waters would be nice I think it may not change as this is probably review version, retail copy. Having said that it looks great as always and I like the standard cars too :)

The smoke effect may also depends on driver and car, this one looks slightly better:

Are we looking at a custom body-kit here?

Epic smoke in RX-7 video 👍 I feel like Kaz was trying really hard to push PS3 to its limit, and the GT series have always been limited to its hardware. My question is when will Kaz have the freedom to make a GT game exactly how he wants it?

when there's a console with a 'modern' amount of memory. Mobile phones have more memory than a ps3.

You are correct, the used dealership is not limited by manufacter, for me it has restocked several new cars after every race, and you can see which ones are new as it flashes "new" next to there name, if you leave it for a few races before checking it out, it slowly replaces all cars.

Me either. i think they should have had a proper and seperate dealership for standard cars.

I would have just thrown them all together. That way I wouldn't have to scan through premium and standard dealerships.

I only suggest the standards be in a seperate dealership is so thet the people who dont like the standard cars wont have to look through them.

I still do not understand why they did that.

I think its just for presentational reasons, It seems PD are trying hard to overshadow the standards with premium.

But its annoying because it also makes the whole Used car dealership seem overshadowed, its as if its not a dealership for used cars but a dealership just for standards. I mean how can an Escudo Pikes Peak be a used car :grumpy:

That second link, with the karts, has a really odd disappearing act at the 52 second mark in the background. Also, first spotting of the Axela (Mazda3) in-game...

so nice to have direct-feed videos, though, since the sound definitely does seem to have improved. Switching views in the R8 literally had me surprised!

(EDIT): What's wrong with the Used dealership housing Standards? Other than the Veyron, R8 LMS, and (maybe) the Jag XFR, no Standards are current-model cars. Er, except for the handful that come as both Standard and Premium.

Because there only was one (afaik) and it has been used?

I realise I am being pedantic now.

Because they are trying to say that the standard cars are all used vehicles since none of the standard cars are from the current year. The premiums just get the showroom treatment to show off their graphical splendor. If all the cars were premium, then the used car lot would have premiums in it yes? It's just PD decision to leave the standards as all used vehicles, doesn't mean a damn thing since you can engine refresh and chassis refresh so the cars a like new. What is with some of you? Everything is a gripe, I swear it's like a preschool in here. Why did they do this? why did they do that? Why did they leave out such and such? Omg it's their decision, they were obviously pressed for time and seriously adding way too many things that many of you will not even appreciate, like some ungrateful brat kids.

So what the smoke effects make the cars look kind of muddy where the smoke covers the car, big deal. I'd prefer it not be there, but as long as it doesn't hamper my driving I can live with it. I mean the car mirrors do not reflect on the car body paint, this is a bit jarring when you take photos at different angles, but seriously it's not impacting gameplay in anyway. I think many of you complainers have too much time on your hands, flip the PC off and go outside for a little bit.

The game will have it's flaws, but the flaws that I really don't want to come across are physics bugs, super slipstreaming and cars going over curbs and tipping unrealistically:). Only a few more days people, how about we just calm down and just remember that it's still a game and made on a 4 year old machine with a meager graphics card, none the less the visuals are stunning no doubt. Hiccups here and there, but it's just a showcase to some serious ingenuity and skill on the Dev's part. Can only imagine what PD could do with the unadulterated power of a full on Cell paired with top of the line GPU's and 1Gig of RAM. It might happen on day. Till the 24th rolls around people, happy posting.

What the hell!!! I wasnt complaining. I was just saying that it would be nice to buy a standard car the same way that its possible to buy a premium car.

Also its nice to know that PD told you that information about the standard cars.

Another thing about smoke and damage. People were crying because it wasnt in earlier videos and now that smoke and damage is in the game its not good enough for the people who were crying for it.

Those gamekult screens look as if they were capped from a standard definition tv. 3D graphics and textures meant for full HD downscaled for SD does not make for pretty visuals. In one screen the aliasing and blurring on the mx5 is shockingly bad, I doubt thats how it will look at full HD. EDIT: If not standard def then certainly not full HD, one of those middle of the road HD TVs.

The question is Will Sony develop a console that will be totally cutting edge , stand the test of time and most importantly allow GT to develop relatively free of restrictions....Hes arleady said in so many words witout biting the hand that feeds, that the current console, is at its limits, and nowhere near the limit of his vision.

there is no memory in any phone that can do this.

The PlayStation 3 has 256mb of GDDR3 at 700mhz and 256Mb of XDR at 3.2ghz. So what exactly is XDR ram? Here are some of the highlights:

- XDR makes PS3 super effiecient
- XDR aids in faster cache mapping, both direct and indirect
- XDR ram works by a pointer to pointer technology and needs very small buswidth for execution
- XDR is not just faster than GDDR3 but it is much more efficient
- XDR RAM works by breaking down data into several packets which prevents data loss and exceptions
