This is an example of some real bad tearing. What I have seen in this GT5 demo is not this bad, but some is still there.

Look at about 0:07s

Are you seeing this tearing in first person or do you see it in the video's were seeing from the event? Just curious.

I got pretty much all of the ones people pointed where not recorded. Will just put another one online, the Jaguar XJ13 and finish that tomorrow so I don't spoil everything :)

You are a cruel man ;)
Sorry

Personally, I really wouldn't mind just the audio with a still screen grab. That's just me, others might think different.
Yeah I know people wouldn't mind but I want to put the two together, always better to have the image to know what's happening.

Nice beard by the way :sly:
Thanks, more of a "I'm lazy I have no time to shave, where's the damn camera"-beard but it's alright.

And yes, I'll compile them in a single post when I'm done, no worries.

Many thanks!
The engine appears to sound fairly realistic. The general impression at medium-high rpm is good while at lower ones I can't help but feel that there's something wrong, but I'm not a 2 stroke engine expert so I cannot give any definite judgement on it.
Tire sounds spoil everything as usual, in my opinion.

Seems to be alot of background noise, but the engine I heard sounds almost like a 3.5cc nitro engine, the kind you get in RC cars, still, it is definately a two stroke !

Uploading a sample of the sounds I recorded (karts) No videos for now, I'll do that tomorrow but at least you get what kind of sounds we got.

Karting sounds

So tomorrow I'll have the hazardous task to edit and synchronize the video & the proper sound and make sure they're as close as possible. Wish me luck, lol.

@ medium range seems that is present a redoundance problem of recording

That's the name of the 5-series hatchback version and you might indeed wish to change your avatar as it insults every single person here.

This +1 on both counts

Good luck :)

Great write ups from you and Denur, sounds like you've enjoyed it but hope you got enough wheel time. Looking forward to seeing more new stuff tomorrow 👍

Yeah some of the recording are good some are quiet and bad, gonna have to make do. Hopefully Andreas can fix the problem on his end since he had an audio input on his camera which was HD so yeah. We got a lot of sounds from that one. Mines were purely recorded on my laptop.

EDIT: I'm off to bed, dead tired :P

Thank you sir. I'll be waiting patiently.

For those using your ps3, the sound samples get saved to your hard drive.

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly (my scottish is a bit rusty), but we did see this tearing first hand at the GamesCom. But as pointed out a few posts back, it could have to do with the PS3 version used. I do have a first generation PS3 myself and did have image problems with the 2010 GT Academy, while others had none. If the old PS3 cannot handle GT5, than I'll just have to buy a new slim one. :grumpy:

That Jag sounds fantastic, especially for GT standards. Can't wait to hear the P4 and Mark IV.

The XJ13 is a premiup car. I know what you're going to say "kaz said it looks pretty standard to him" but that is obviously a translation error.

We did see the cutest thing at the GamesCom: a very young boy, no older than 4yo, was driving and he had to look 'through' the wheel and sometimes had to lean sideways to look passed the wheel. And he did quite well actually, though his father was a bit better. I wonder if we will hear from him again in 15 years or so. 👍

Ah right, now I see, thanks for clearing that up !

I must say, I have a 1st gen PS3 and didn't notice any tearing with the GT Academy demo, mind you I might not have been looking for it.

If it is a problem with the older PS3's I'll just have to swap mines with the kids, I'm sure they won't mind !

I mostly disagree. Samples appear to be certainly better than usual (for GT standards and when they aren't distorted/oversaturated in the audio sample), yes, yet again as usual, poorly "executed", not "alive" and in general only vaguely similar to what they should sound like. Especially during downshifts, the usual "GT synthetic" quality can be really heard, this time with an added (probably a bug?) odd flanging effect. In some aspects (other than sample quality/accuracy) there have been some improvements, though, although I'd want to hear something more to give my final impressions on those.

In general I think there's still a long way to go, but probably it's my fault as I had high hopes for sounds at least as good as the game graphics.

There's however still the possibility that "perfect" sounds will be PD's next bullet to be shot at the Tokyo Game Show, given the improvements (in general sound presentation/liveliness, rather than sample quality) achieved in the Time Trial version.

I am very pleased with the few car sounds I have heard from the Gamescon demo. The Zonda sounds real nice, the karts sound good, and the Citroen sounds pretty badass as well. Very encouraging!

I had stuttering problems with my fatty lady...

And I do mean the PS3 btw.

I had the stutter, but no tearing, I think the stutter was down to it being an online demo, so to speak. I get that stutter when someone drops out of an online race.

I have a friend with a slim and he never had those problems (I drove a lot also in there). Might need a new ps3? :scared:

The kart sounds good enough to me. 2-stroke karts aren't exactly beautiful sounding anyway. To me, it sounds a little thin, lacking the "bark" they tend to make below the power band. But it does mostly sound familiar so I'm happy with it. Would love if we could have the choice between 2 and 4 stroke engines.
