I've been trying to look for some livery evidence, just for speculation purposes. Other than the video at post #165, this has grabbed my attention.

That Skyline looks crazy. Seems like some sort of special paintjob or customization. Though it might be from a tuner company.
false alarm
it's the Blitz Dunlop R34, we already have it in the prologue, only with a slightly different livery

nice try though

What I really think is that we're going to have not only the WRC and Nascar licenses but also D1 Gran Prix. The series are from Japan right?...
;)

This is what I think PD will show at TGS:

-Weather in some form (dynamic or static).
-TOD effects in some form (dynamic or static).
-A more refined and realistic damage model with better collisions and more details on mechanical damage.
-At least a handful of new tracks.
-Our first looks at the new online mode (private room, clans, leaderboards).
-Our first look at the layout of the "career mode" (in short its huge).
-Some freakin sweet gameplay and maybe a trailer.
-Different game modes in detail (rally, Nascar, drift etc).
-New cooler cars (super cars, muscle cars, tuner cars etc).
-Our first look at the customization system (a very detailed and deep tuning system, some "body kit" upgrades will exist for certain cars but not all, some form of livery editor but nothing as deep as Forza).
-No release date but a release window (late 2009 Q1 2010).

I think most of that is pretty reasonable. I mean I could realistically see all of it happening. Its more than likely only about 60% of that will happen but even that is still good. TGS has never really let me down as far as offering GT news so I do not expect this year to be any different.

If PD really wants to steal its competitors thunder it could announce GT Academy as a yearly competition and will take contestants from all countries. Buy GT have the chance at becoming a real life racing driver... hmmm I wonder how that will go over...

I can certainly sympathize, SrRd. Like most of us, I'm filled with questions, because this Christmas present has been a long time coming, and it's going to keep opening up over time. So of course we want it to unfold as much and as long as possible.

Other than GT3, and possibly GT1, there has been a strategy involved even in starting the game. Do I get a new car with a sturdy frame and ultimate performance? Or do I buy a used car with a loose body, but with some money left over for upgrades? Or, do I have a shot at acing a license test and winning an awesome car? Will this strategy carry over to GT5 because there are used cars to buy, and later refurbish? Or will all cars essentially be "new old stock," good as new?

The livery editor is at the top of my list, shared with race mod. Several times while playing GT4, I've had a Forza moment when I thought, "Man, I really should race mod up a 240SX hatch! Oh wait, I can't..." It isn't just that I want this for myself, and to get people involved in creating their own race cars who wouldn't think this would be so awesome. But think of the online leagues which will be forming between GT5 and Forza 3. In Forza, you'll definitely be able to have a custom livery which identifies you as a member of a select group, and the only limit in creating it will be in the imagination of the maker. In GT5... who knows? Will we be stuck with everyone trying to decide on which race car or street car and color to get to identify the team? Or will we have this freedom too?

And race mod, one of the coolest features in GT2, and taken to the extremes in a good way in Forza. Will this finally return in GT5? And after creating a car, will we be able to personalize it like the Forza guys? Will we be able to take blank race cars and livery them up, or paint over existing racers?

I know many of us are fretting over weather, damage, day/night progression, cockpit views for all cars, and to be sure, these are all parts of the real world which would sure add to GT5's "realness" factor. But race mod and livery painting are the biggest essence of motorsports to me. Without them... heck, there aren't any professional motorsports, just guys racing in street cars.

If they aren't in GT5... eh, I'll fret for about a minute, and when I get the urge to paint a car, I'll fire up Forza. But I really want GT5 to feature these, because that PC sim-like handling of Prologue but even more refined, along with race mod and livery detailing will make it the pinnacle of racing for me.

You are on right track! I hope to see it as well!

This is what I think PD will show at TGS:

-Weather in some form (dynamic or static). What would a sim be without a properly simulated environment? Weather is a must have! Rain/snow in HD= OMFG:tup:
-TOD effects in some form (dynamic or static).Yes, we need this too. Night racing would look fabulous.
-A more refined and realistic damage model with better collisions and more details on mechanical damage. In time I think it will be perfected. Damage isn't a priority for me, though.
-At least a handful of new tracks.Yes, like Silverstone, Monza, etc.
-Our first looks at the new online mode (private room, clans, leaderboards).Maybe we'll see it. I don't count on it, though.
-Our first look at the layout of the "career mode" (in short its huge). This would be very revealing. I sure hope it doesn't stray too far from the older titles. However, Kaz says it'll be more like GTMobile
-Some freakin sweet gameplay and maybe a trailer.A trailer of a Lamborghini please :)
-Different game modes in detail (rally, Nascar, drift etc). For sure. I'm ready to get dirty in the mud.
-New cooler cars (super cars, muscle cars, tuner cars etc).Yes, bring it on! There are many new cars we need to see in HD.
-Our first look at the customization system (a very detailed and deep tuning system, some "body kit" upgrades will exist for certain cars but not all, some form of livery editor but nothing as deep as Forza).Even if it's less deep than Forza, it's a start. There's nothing better than putting your personal attitude into something like a car. It's just a great feeling.
-No release date but a release window (late 2009 Q1 2010).Definitely. I'd expect something like this. Otherwise, I think PD is behind schedule.

I'm in bold.

SrRd,

I think at a minimum I think we will be able to toggle day/night and weather effects. Like the Ring at night or the ring at day etc. I know for a fact that would not be all that hard to implement.
I do not think we will see snow unless it is on a snow track. There may be a snow storm or snowy weather but I do not think we will see 16 player races on The Ring in the snow...

Nice double post. Pakowitz.
Now to get back on topic. All I want are decent weather effects, or at the bare minimum day-night cycle for endurance races.

Here is my version of TGS:

K.Y. confirms what we already know(1000cars...) and makes a website specifically for GT5 with everything there is to know about it(car list, track list...). Then he announces an update for GT5 Prologue( damage, Nurburgring track...). Finally he shows us a trailer of GT5
and a release date in the end of the video.

I reckon we will see snow in the WRC e.g. Swizterland with changing weather effects ( sleet & rain with slush, cold fronts maybe ).If the weather effects, are downloaded live from weather stations we might see a lot of different weather in the game ( that's if GT5 can simulate all of it ).I wonder if the track tempretures will be relayed back to us before the start of a race ( that effect governs your tyre choice right there )

That would set the industry standard. I don't expect all of that, but I expect variances in the times of day. I'd love a evening race at Laguna Seca. Those final turns are so pretty as the sun seems right in your reach. It'd be hot (the sun and its beauty!). Also, I'd want a midnight race at El Capitan. That track is awesome, even though it's fictional.

All this darn talk about a release date!:):P

I don't think a release date warrants the title of a "Major Advancement". It's clear that this is about an in-game progression. It may be a livery editor, weather patterns, etc. I believe the date should be released at the end, but for me, it isn't what I most anticipate hearing. We know the game is near, so it's more exciting to know what will be within the game.

I would guess weather too, but the major advancement (if its tranlated properly) means "next step", not "new feature", so it could be a releasedate information.

"First, we showed you a video, then we showed you an important feature and then we told you when it will be available."

I'd rather have more info about the game and screens and vids than a release date really, they could announce it 2 days before it drops for all i care, i just NEED INFO MAN I NEED IT I WANT SOME GT SMACK.

Beats me it could be anything ranging from weather ,day/night ,release date or just more game play.
