Well i own a fatty and a slim, wish i could test the fatty to see how it handles but its bluray drive is cracked.. But i havent had any FPS issues with the slim, it''s just the aliasing that's well... bothering me.

Mine is Slim PS3 160GB, brand new, only a couple of weeks and less than 30 hours play time, no frame rate issues at all and I use cockpit view, some others also have no issues, which is very strange ...

This stuff seems fixable so I'm not worried about it at all, many many early phase games are/were like this and it got patched up.

You can think of GT Academy like a beta.

Some people are more sensitive to framerate problems than others, it's always been this way and I can't think of anything else. I really doubt the game performs based on what kind of model your console is as their important parts inside are identical.

The only thing that could affect the game's speed is BD-HDD troubles with certain models but then the issue would manifest itself differently than framerate drops at specific parts of a specific track.

I have no issues detecting frame drops, in fact I played GT5 earlier and did arcade race, frame drops in cockpit view are frequent and noticeable. I don't see any noticeable frame drops with the demo, I also run laps with ghost on.

I also knows when 60fps drops to 50+fps - often happens in GT5 even when driving alone, example : Suzuka main straight, some parts of London track.

I find it kinda weird that the settings for the GT6 demo is at 59.9p. It shows it well for the rest of the gameplay, but not in the cockpit view. Hmmm.....

Personally I think the AA is much better than what GT5 was at launch. If you remember GT5 at launch, you had the horrible shadow jaggings, and whenever tire smoke covered an object, the object would look awful. Though I still notice some aliasing in the demo, I think it's better than what GT5 was at launch. After some updates GT5 did improve, and I'm assuming so will GT6. We need to remember that this just a demo, and even once the final product comes out, you know PD will update the game.

Hmm I'm getting drops on a Fatty. Others here say that the slim doesn't drop frames.

Odd that.

My slim is definitely dropping frames.

Either there's slims out there that have higher performance than others, or the effect is countered by wearing rose coloured glasses.

The fact of the matter is that a fair number of people either ignore issues like this or they simply don't notice them and so it doesn't bother them. I remember back in the old days (around 2002, lol) when high powered vidcards made the PC scene people started to talk about things like "screen tearing" and using V-sync and so forth. I scoffed at it for a long time until one day I was flying around in MS Flight sim and I noticed as I was rotating to approach a runway that the screen was sort of splitting in two every once in a while and all of a sudden it was like BOOM, I'd suddenly discovered screen tearing! From that moment on I started to notice it everywhere and v sync became one of my best friends... :)

yeah, theres some messy looking stuff in this GT demo from framerates to jaggies...for me though, a smooth steady (and higher) framerate trumps anti-aliasing anytime. I can live with the jaggies more than the chugging fps.

Agreed. I don't even use AA on PC games, I just set the resolution to 1920 1080 so you can barely see aliasing at all.

Also, I have not noticed a single torn frame in GT6 so far. That is a trade off I'm more than willing to make. I'd much rather deal with jaggies than screen tearing. Plus, AA introduces blur most of the time, and I hate blur worse than screen tearing.

My screen looks fine at 1080p, looks like GT5 pretty much. I don't know what this is about, unless they don't have any AA on 720p, which could be a mistake of theirs. The final game should be better than GT5 in terms of visuals and overall stability. I must say the higher HDR looks fantastic.

Does it have to do with the TV size? I have a 32 inch, playing at 720p and I can't notice these graphical issues like the ones you people mention.

My TV does support 1080p, so I could try and see if there is a difference, but according to my calculations, with only 32 inches the difference within both resolutions shouldn't be noticeable at all.

I'm fairly sensitive to aliasing, on 1080p I like to set at least 8x AA on my PC. It makes GT6 look really dated to me. But if that is the price we have to pay to have a more realistic driving experience, I can live with it.

@Husky I have a 32" tv too and I find the difference between 720p and 1080p very noticable. Some people claim 720p blurs out the jaggies on the GT6 demo, maybe that's why it looks fine to you.

The circle under the car at the dealership is pretty horrible looking in terms of jaggedness. Is it like that for anyone?

When driving I sit close (<1m) to my 32" LCD so I notice the aliasing a lot. Running at 1080p btw.

It's not a GT6 problem, I notice it on other PS3 games too. Last of Us looks very jaggy too me when I look from the same distance.

That's the price to pay when being used to perfectly antialiased gaming on PC :P

The bottom of the line is PD, being the graphics maniacs we know, can't support not having AA. AA makes the game look much, much better. It may have better effects, reflection and textures, but if it doesn't have AA it won't look better than GT5. Aliasing is that much of an eye-sore.
In fact, when I drive pc sims my eyes feels better because I can run some decent AA filters, even with considerably inferior graphics the final result is better and more balanced just because of AA.

It really is that important. No point having uber shaders, insane resolution textures, and ultra detailed tracks when the final result is a bunch of pixels moving all over the screen. It's like buying a Lamborghini and pretend to race it with Fiat 500 tyres.

My TV is a 60 inch LED and it's insanely noticeable both in 720p and in sub-1080p, my TV supports full HD but I set my PS3 and my Xbox360 to 720p max on purpose, if a game isn't native 1080p then it will be blurry, especially on a big TV however I calibrated my TV profesionally and I got rid of the jaggies in FM4 (looks dropdead gorgeous) and in GT5 were the jaggies are really only present on the shadows and smoke but this demo is hopeless

The flickering shadows don't help much either and to be honest, at 720p, the demo already looks blurry and stretched, I can only imagine how terrible it will look at sub-1080p, it might soften the jaggies a bit but it'll look like a PS2 port stretched to fit my TV, Awful..I really hope that the final game looks at least like GT5

Guys , if you´re playing on 1080i LCD´s , change your ps3 from 720P to 1080i .
Big difference here , almost no jaggies , it looks like GT5 with better lightning .

Something is wrong with the 720P mode because in GT5 it works great .

59.94fps and 60fps are near as makes no difference the same.

No wonder you're so pissed about the graphic details. Your tv is huge. With 60 inches at 720p the image will definitely look stretched. Although it surprises me that you still notice the same problems when playing at 1080p.

I'm glad I'm not so technical. If I were I would probably be criticizing the demo as well...

You haven't learned to spot them 👎
Like the guy talking about turning trees.. GT5 has them .. every video game has them at some degree , the smoke is made by using the same technique..
Aside from they id rather have torn frames * the frame always tears up top.. never in teh middle* than jaggy fest..

Posted this at another thread, but might still be relevant :

Good idea :

My setup :

PS3 Slim 160GB - brand new only a couple of weeks with over 400GB free space - HDD replaced with Seagate 500GB 7200 RPM. PS3 output set at 1080p, RGB Full range enabled - Deep Color set at Auto. Sound set at 5.1 DTS.

Samsung Full HD LCD 32" tv ( 60 Hz mode ) - using movie mode, sharpness at 0, NO picture enhancement whatsoever, professionally calibrated for movie viewing, warm 2, just scan setting ( 1 to 1 no upscale by TV ). Deep color enabled. Setting for game is aimed at providing true output from the PS3 with no post processing by the TV ( as is )

GT6 - display set at flicker reduction, sound 5.1 DTS with large theatre.

GT6 runs fine, no noticeable frame drops, no tearing at all, mainly driving in cockpit view. If there's a spike in frame rate - dropping, I would have noticed it visually and affected my driving as I am strictly drive in the demo with no assists - including no ABS using stick. A drop in frames during corner entry or hard braking would likely mess up my driving :)

Graphics looks fine, no jaggies on cars even on chase cams like some says - might be due to TV settings ( I have no enhancement, sharpness or any post processing ) The paint on cars looks great - realistic - better than GT5, also might have to do with my tv calibration for natural life like color.

I sit around 6/7 feet away from tv.

I've got an old PS3 fat, I'm using 720P on a screen which is 2.8m wide and I sit about 4 to 5m back. I can see some frame drops but I didn't notice any when racing. I can see a lot of aliasing problems with things like the white paint of the starting grid or the grandstands. It seems worse than GT5 but not really an issue when racing.

I don't use cockpit view.

I'll try playing with the settings but I doubt it'll make a big difference.

The cars look better than GT5 and I certainly don't see images looking like the one posted earlier in this thread.

I have a 32" at 720p and the jaggies are horrific. I can't help but noticing them all over the place and it irritates the crap out of me. I've been gaming on 360 and PS3 on this television since the end of 2005 and it's been just fine all this time with everything else I've played on it, but this looks awful. The shadows flickering along some surfaces also bug the crap out of me.

This. I also play at 720p and when going back to GT5 it looks great. This demo is just... not suitable for the eyes.
