Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3

I know! Isn't it great! 👍

The only reason for silence would be a PS4 release. A PS3 release is not worthy of silence IMHO.

What if the PS4 plays PS3 games as well, and the release of GT6 for PS3 coincides with the release of the PS4 or is released shortly afterwards?
If they now make clear it's gonna be for PS3 (at least being a current gen game instead of a next gen game), some will postpone their order for a PS4 console perhaps?
And those who will, are possibly still able to play a new GT-game on their PS4.

I thought Sony said there will be no backwards compability?

and on, E3 is also about if Xbox 720 comes with new generation Forza.
Project Cars is another that i feel puts pressure on GT franchise.

Project cars coming to playstation?

There's a post on the news page on GTP that says something about te New Egg website putting GT6 up for Pre-order for the PS3 (out of stock and discontinued now) and had a timestamp of November 2013 for release too

I am amazed by the business experts around here.

How will they sell the ps4 to the customers? If they end up like Nintendo with their Wii U, then the era of playstation will end soon. The only way they can sell their consoles is with a strong first party line up of games.

Plus there is still no information about GT6 out there. Nothing. So, I would'nt expect a release soon. Probably not this year. And I am absolutely sure that they will not release a game for the predecessor of a console that is already out for a year. That did never happen to GT in the entire series.

With the argument of install base, you can also say that they should make GT6 for the PS2, because they sold well over 150 million units of it. 👍

If this will come true, then I will lose all faith in PD and Sony...

Not this again. You're not making it seem like you're a much better business expert. You make it sound like all Sony has is Gran Turismo, and that it's an absolutely must that they have GT for launch early or Sony dies, not that Sony never really had GT for launch, ever...

Put that with the fact that Sony's launch titles seem to be one of their strongest one with exclusives like Killzone, possibly Infamous, and who knows, DriveClub might be a new killer. Also put into perspective, you're not even considering 3rd party titles, which is the weak-point of Nintendo. There could possibly be titles like Battlefield 4, Watchdogs, and Destiny.

Sure, GT will help sales, but it doesn't have to help PS4 sales early on. It can help with sales in the later stages of the PS4's life. Sales of early launch units are important, but you also need sales later on. It's not a bad move for Sony to spread out their AAA exclusives, rather than releasing them all at once at launch and have nothing else later.

As for no GT info, I still blame the complainers and the constant joke of 5 plus years of delay or the game being released in like "2057." Kaz said that he's being more careful in announcements now especially regarding release date. GT6 releasing this year for PS3 is not out of the realm of possibility.

I will agree though, that I don't think GT6 will release on PS3 one year after the PS4's launch, although late games like God of War 2 on the PS2 nearly did that.

Hate to burst your bubble but Kaz has already said, "GT5 represents a whole new operating system," [Kaz] noted, while "GT6 is just new apps that run on the GT5 system"

GT5 was the big overhaul. GT6 is just an extension of the work already done. I expect most, if not all of the changes in GT6 to be content, not physics.

I hope for the sake of us all that Kaz has reconsidered that position.

The overhaul needs an overhaul.

This is about the fourth time this has been posted in this thread.

Then there is the theory of hitting the ps3 install base to get that last bit of revenue from the ps3 before its replaced by the PS4.

This is the time where you cant judge what will happen and it most certainly an exciting time.

That's why GT6 releasing on the PS3 isn't a bad idea, you know? :sly:

Oh dear, why so dramatic? It makes perfect sense to me.

I think most people would be happy with just fixing the things that are not working in the game, and adding some new features like livery editors and engine swaps that don't require any changes to the base programming. I know I would. The changes to how the game is played are far more important to me than whether another 50 cars have dashboards or not, or look really pretty in pictures.

If GT6 has no ranking and filtering system for online racing, I'll seriously consider whether I buy it or not. I can already go online with friends in Lounges or in Open Lobbies with carnage, I don't need to spend money to be able to do it in a different game.

Odd analogy is odd (and I have to say doesn't actually make a lot of sense).

Hey, it's not that odd. It's just like a company announcing their new racing game has an unprecedented number of cars - the first to hit four digits, even - and building hype based on this number being massively bigger than any competitor's garage count. Just before release, a tiny detail is revealed: 4/5 of these cars are infact copy/paste jobs from the previous generation, woefully behind the curve with what modern technology is capable of.

Oh. Wait...

I'm happy to hear more rumors support the idea that GT6 is a PS3 game.

I've gone over it at length before but I think this is the smart move on Sony and PDs part. (doesn't conflict wi/ Driveclub, gives PD time to work on GT PS4 proper not just some upscale from Cell architecture + many more reasons.)

Very happy if this is true.

This. I too hope GT6 is indeed for PS3. DriveClub (which is like PGR) would give PD time to work on GT PS4, best move by Sony. :)

Also. If GT6 really is coming to PS3, we won't have to worry about buying a console for one game, like other certain fans are going to be doing on the other console. Hope they have fun though, whereas we just buy GT6 and we're all ready to play. :D
