Gran Turismo 6 general Physics Discussion(as well as video)

I am new here and never play GT5, but very interesting in GT6. Just want to ask can GT5 switch to spectator view during the race? (Not replay)...This GT6 demo i can see it can change to spectator view while you in game play. So that is cool if you can setup multi screen with spectator view, let your friend monitoring your car or maybe able to switch to another opponent like watch a live racing. Sorry for my bad English.

No, that was edited in. I believe he was doing some laps. Then he went into replay mode, and viewed using the "Tele" cam, or spectator view as you called it, and just edited that view onto the end of the video. In GT5 you can only view that Tele cam either live from an online lobby, or from the replay.

Edit: It would be pretty impossible to drive well, if you had to drive whilst viewing from a moving camera that was to the side or above of the car say. Don't know why you would want that? The only game I think that has such a thing (that I've played at least) is GTA4, where you could toggle basically that same thing, but I never found it to be all too useful :D

~2:41 on that video shows tire(rubber) bending, wondering how accurate model will be on final version, looks pretty promising for us.. :)

It does? I can't see anything through glare in the fraction of a second it pops up. Can you screen cap it?

What is the point to have such a good physics without the race weekend? Or a proper event in the whole game?
This time GT6 really need to justify itself, just 2 tracks more and a bunch of cars are not enough in 2013.
There are some amazing competitors around.

What?

Edit, i don't think the gif is working

Autoblog likes the physics

As is the franchise's wont, the physics behind car and track are powerfully realistic in GT6. Developers worked with Yokohama on a new tire model, KW Automotive on a new suspension model and refined the aerodynamic model to boot. The result, at least in our ten minutes at the helm, is remarkably true to life; satisfying to get right, and sometimes quite frustrating during the hard bits.

60fps gameplay - Silverstone, man you can see the difference in the physics when the car spun. Also crash impacts smack hard

I put the video up on YT for easier streaming.
I can sense a grip, slip and frictioned slide of the new tyre model... the motion is different from GT5

I'm not sure I saw the guy use brakes the whole time. He used a lot of handbrake though. I dunno how much you can really read into that sort of driving...

The way the car slides tells me a lot
And we get to see the tyre indicators at work 💡

They sure go red back to yellow/white pretty quickly

A lot more into "dusk" or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

Thanks for upping this, the full 60fps is brutal on my iPhone.

yeah there are no hard specular sun reflections or shadows
Maybe overcast day

Also it's the tuned 370z from GT Academy time trial. Didn't notice as much body roll

Maybe they've imporved the weather effects so now you can't see the sun at all during cloudy races

I totally agree with you..

Just watched the Nissan Delta Wing game play video. To me it looks like you get a better feeling of speed. Happy to see that.

I'm hoping with this new aerodynamics engine, Kei cars and old cars will shake like a leaf when nearing 100mpn. We should not see any compact car before 1995 hitting 160mpn at the front straight of Grand Valley. Forza was good with this and their race cars because of the downforce. For example, the Panoz GT2 race car would hit an aero brick wall at about 155mph and steady creep up in mph. A road car has better aerodynamics of course, but, a Daihatsu should not do 160mph. Even a stock Integra R only does 140mph. It takes record breaking cars forever and a day to reach top speed.

I agree with this. Only the Escudo and the SC430 GT500 come to mind when it comes to believable aero in GT5. Everything else seems a little fast at full downforce to me.

That's 30fps. Youtube is only 30fps.

True, but be the fact the original was at 60fps helps the inter frame encoding, it does look a lot smoother than other 30fps videos on YT
Better motion cadence from the codec - these encoded videos don't have individual frames per se, like raw uncompressed video footage, they use predictive key frames

I suspect the 60fps source material allowed better motion blur to be encoded

Yet more evidence that most players really can't tell the difference between a smooth 30 and a smooth 60.

There's an absolute difference between 30 and 60. The Silverstone trailer was jaw dropping. Even though YouTube can do live feeds and even 3D, I'm surprised they still degrade video down to 30.

hello guys. tell me why the rocket doesn' t drive as it drove in the silverstone demo. PD changed physics? if this is true i' m really disappointed
