Gran Turismo 6 general Physics Discussion(as well as video)

See, I played GT5 and felt that the driving feel was far from "spot on", but that's the inherit risk you take when listening to someone else's opinion rather than forming your own - people more often than not will hold a differing opinion to you.

Every body has differing opinions, that i embrace. It makes the world a more interesting place.

My "Spot on" statement, was based on my first hand experience driving the same car and track both in GT5 and in real life. And i have driven on FM4 last year on the same driving rig. So my opinion at least for the "spot on" comment was based on my experience and not hearsay.

Now back to GT6, let the speculations continue.

Just realized, the driving feel could be different for different cars. I drove a friend's modified 93 Mazda Miata in Laguna Seca and practiced with the same car and track in GT5. The driving feel for both cars was really close. But i could never modify my 93 honda civic si hatchback in GT5 to have the same feel as my real life modified 1993 civic si.

Ya I used to think GT was really accurate, I always was able to feel the balance of cars and feel in control... but as time went on a started realizing there is a lot of feeling and control missing... I think Kazanori said it best when he was asked about what GT5 physics lack - "Responsiveness" was his answer, and I agree.

Well GT5 hasn't done FWD physics all that well, so it's no wonder it doesn't feel like your Civic Tinram :)

Yup. Data-logging and import to GT5 meant nothing to the physics engine, no reason 6 should be any different. And the race team telemetry transfer stuff you have to take with a pinch of salt too. They'll never comment on anything other than the positives. A bit like how Adrian Newey didn't say how stupid the X2010 actually is in GT5 smoking its front tyres and generally not looking like a car at all.

I didn't say this video are relate about physic, just show to what sems4arsenal talk about.

Some more driving impressions in the News section you all might want to take a look at.

Nothing new actually.

A slight fleshing out of the physics I thought, if only just a bit. Of course you never know if this version of the physics is the one that makes it to the shelves...

Oh no don't misunderstand it.
I find it good that you pointed it out (the news) so that others can have a look at it.

I just wanted to say that the news itself is nothing new and has been posted already.

Agreed, from what I read it didn't seem the eengine is as impressive as some are pointing out.

There's new footage posted today... but the only thing that I noticed is that the tire indicators might be slightly different... and that the new hint motionblur looks pretty nice. Didn't see anything physics related that could fit into here... see if others have better luck?

edit-
Tire indicators at the bottom turn yellow - Improved tire wear model?

Definitely sounds like a more accurate rendition of heating and cooling from the tires will be in.

In the Grand Valley 370z video, the clutch meter/bar is evident, it blips on gear changes :)

Nice spot! It's definitely there. It's a red bar that runs along the blue bar that measures the accelerator. Maybe, just maybe, PD will give us a somewhat realistic clutch? :dopey:

I knew that would get your attention!!:)

I am more curious if GT6 will have dedicated clutch button on the DS3 :D Toca Race Driver 3, D1 GP and NFS Pro Street have it on PS2, why not on GT ?

I still can't forget the joy to blip throttle on downshift when braking without ABS on ProStreet, D1 GP and Toca RD 3.

Don't use the term blip for the clutch, it's confusing :)
It's a bit of an oddity in this video. For instance, yes, the bar jumps up, but obviously there's no cutting of the throttle bar, yet the revs don't jump, so is drive actually disengaged? Then there's the fact that it doesn't show on the downshifts.
To me it looks more like a "throttle cut" bar than a clutch bar, keeping the throttle bar as a true indication of where your foot is, and using this red indicator for the lift you should make, but don't have to. (I'm assuming from the quiet that this player is using the paddles).

Yep, pretty sure the red bar on the throttle bar is the throttle cut, as seen with TCS and sequential upshifts in GT5. The throttle is blipped on downshifts, so no cut.

Um, doesn't the Fairlady Z Z34/370Z feature a rev matching mechanism (called the SynchroRev Match Transmission) that makes it auto blip?

So would this feature be apparent on all cars in game?

Supposedly that new C7 Corvette has an auto blip even on the manual gearbox. Dont think that was implemented ingame if you choose to drive it with the clutch.

I am new here and never play GT5, but very interesting in GT6. Just want to ask can GT5 switch to spectator view during the race? (Not replay)...This GT6 demo i can see it can change to spectator view while you in game play. So that is cool if you can setup multi screen with spectator view, let your friend monitoring your car or maybe able to switch to another opponent like watch a live racing. Sorry for my bad English.
