Gran Turismo 6 general Physics Discussion(as well as video)

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across that way, I was just maybe suggesting that such an upgrade would be near impossible without the car completely losing what makes it the car that it is.

It really depends what you're going for, I honestly don't think they're always the best solution but considering they've found widespread adoption I'd say that my view isn't the one that's shared by the masses.

No problem, simple misread I presume ;), I agree with you regarding a car's specific suspension being a huge part of its characteristic handling aspects (and therefor character) and that's exactly why I wondered how they'd approach this given that until now that wasn't something they'd have to consider.

Maybe this depends on the wheel setup in the Options menu, but with mine on Simulation and FFB strength around 6, my DFGT jiggles when I go over rumble strips.

Every Gran Turismo since GT2 has come out with a new wheel to support it, so maybe Thrustmaster will pick up this gauntlet with GT6, and incorporate all the feedback we need.

My G27 rumbles and I feel considerable force feedback from the side I've hit the rumble strip. This may be a fairly new update but I feel a definite loss of contact on that side and the wheel goes loose if I leave the track. I've been playing the seasonals exclusively. Also, (unrelated) but I could have sworn downshifting didn't upset the balance of the car in corners when playing a few months ago but it seems to now.

I hope what they say is true, maybe even give forza 5 physics a run for they're money?

Do we know much about forza physics yet? I mean, from everything I've seen and heard about horizon, the physics are very arcadey, and I guess it won't be like that unless they are moving away from the sim side of it. Seems unlikely though.

I personally was not that impressed by the teaser they showed at the xbox event, but it didn't really show anything abotu the physics the game will house.

That's why I left a question mark, because FM5 is a complete unknown at this time. Just an evolution of 4 is all I can assume for the moment, but as sems4arsenal said, that's the only area that gt6 can hope to compete against a next gen console game, and even that's going to be tough.
Doesn't matter to my wallet though, I'll never buy an Xbox (one? 1? Juan?)

We don´t know nothing from Forza 5 but in the trailer they made it look arcadeish ala NFS style. But it doesn´t mean that it will be like that since the tyre and suspension model was actually pretty good in Forza 4.

But GT is aiming to be a proper simulator... while Forza aims to catch up in GT´s sales numbers.

Who knows...as an example Codemasters quit in the "trying to be a simulator" game to appeal for the arcade audience since Dirt 2. They even left cockpits out...That made me never looking back again at Codemasters racing games sadly. Dirt 3 was my last game from them and F1 2011.

Cool, I thought that was the case, but wasn't sure if I'd missed something. I agree Foxiol, from the trailer, Forza was presented in an arcadey fashion, so purely going from that, I would say GT6 is making steps in the right direction physics wise.

Last I checked, they were both aiming for the simulator title...

In a cgi trailer. :sly:

In a trailer created using the game engine. Just like GT6's. Which, unsurprisingly, we have a thread for discussing, specifically.

I still find it amazing people can determine an entire game's simulation credentials after watching short teaser trailers.

Apparently you can judge a game based on it's trailer but only when it shows it in a negative light. If it's something positive, then it needs to be called out that it's not representative of the actual product.

Unless Turn 10 take a massive step backwards, I'd say it's safe to assume Forza 5 will be far from "flat".

Cannot be played on mobile devices, BAH!

I'm still curious why you called out the trailer being CGI when it had nothing to do with my statement.

Cause it was cgi, I know the game will be better than it. Anyway just thought I would bring it up just in case, even though your statment didn't meant it. :sly:

It was not CGI, T10 have confirmed that. It was in game but rendered, just like GT6 and most 'in game' trailers are.

So why quote me? It sounds like you're trying to fuel an argument. Why not quote HBR-Roadhog who made the comment about the cars looking flat in the trailer?

Oh, okay. Cool. :)

I'm most certainly not attempting to start an arguement with you. No way will I do such thing, why will I? :ill:

Considering you were already corrected in the Forza forums on the trailer not being CGI, I have no reason to believe you.

I'll say this once, This thread is only for discussing physics for Gran Turismo 6, Forza trailers,Real racing and mobile devices are not in any way related to GT6 physics,so take it somewhere else. this thread will remain on topic, plenty of other threads to rant around in.
