The cone of silence has descended, and it took less than a minute for my PS5 (non-Pro) pre-loaded update to update. The odd thing is the gran-turismo.com page says the servers are operating normally.

@donneratze - when the release notes are available, someone will be sure to post them.

So I guess everyone 's machine are all updated, but we have to wait for the servers to get back online in 1h50min

So we can all find out ...

Hmmm... I'm getting a "You will need to update your game in order to connect to the server" error even though my version is 01.540.5...

Do I need to just wait or something?

Edit: I'm probably just dumb and impatient, I'm guessing it's just server maintenance related.

You'll need to wait until the servers are back up. That should be no later than 08:00 UTC (3 am Eastern), though it usually is quite a bit earlier.

I am going to hope that the extra size will include interiors for all of the VGT cars without one. I love the BMW VGT but won't drive it because there is no interior in VR.....
Surprisingly, I have (some) good news for you!
- Added the cockpit view to the following car:
  ・Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo

As predicted, the outsized size of the PS5 update is due to Pro-specific texture files to support 8K resolution.
Oh wow! You can enable VR Positional Reprojection for the PRO! And PSSR too!! And 8K Support! This is a PRO update. Can’t wait till the servers come back on!
I don't know if that's new, but if it is, paging @RACECAR (though I suspect that will be considered part of the general improvements for the Plus).

Still, for those who were wondering if PSVR2 would be improved on the Pro (I believe @Jump_Ace was among them), it is (at least according to the patch notes; I have neither the Pro nor the PSVR2).

However, yes, the majority of Western players got to know JGTC and Super GT thanks to Gran Turismo, each game in the series had new cars in the same GT500 or GT300 category, only Gran Turismo 7 remained in prehistory with Super GT models which are retired 8 years ago.
They did give us the option to replace the rear wing to match the Class One regulation rear wings so the GT-R and NSX Concept look more like the later counterparts but since both arent used anymore and Lexus never made it to Class One, definitely needs an overhall for modern.

Officially Underwhelming.
As far as I can tell, they were aiming for a November release for the PS5 Pro update and here it is. Nothing else was promised so to expect so much is to once again have failed to temper expectations.

As predicted, the outsized size of the PS5 update is due to Pro-specific texture files to support 8K resolution.

I don't know if that's new, but if it is, paging @RACECAR....
In the official patch notes.
