I am not a paying member of the "an update is later than expected, OMG GT7 is dead" club. However, without having a thorough record of update history, iirc this is the first time we miss an update in a normal month without some feasible explanation.
Can someone who does record updates (Famine?) confirm this is somewhat out of the ordinary?
Thanks!

There was no December update I don’t think

Quick google reveals we had "only" 8 content updates in '23 and '24 - so 16 over 24 months.

So nothing unusual here.

For completeness, the months with no updates are:

  • January 2023
  • July 2023*
  • October 2023*
  • December 2023
  • June 2024
  • August 2024
  • September 2024*
  • December 2024
  • April 2025(possibly *)
Months marked with a * all had an update very early in the next month, so on cadence you might consider the next one the "missed" one (there was an update on 2 November 2023, for example).

In addition to the above...
without some feasible explanation
... is a pretty broad church.

For starters, Yamauchi very clearly said early in the game's life that updates are not monthly by design but that they just happened to be like that early on. Content updates were monthly-enough to December 2022, then there wasn't one in January.

You can also invoke virtually anything as a "feasible explanation". For example, April 29th-May 5th is "Golden Week" in Japan, a largely week-long national holiday. Perhaps launching an update on April 30th wouldn't allow for proper support if things went wrong, so that's why they aren't going to do it; previous April updates were on the 25th, 26th, and 25th, giving a couple of days to work on errors.

Edit: Quick reminder for those who want to make troll posts, from post #1

we've wasted too much time with people who want to divert threads from their purpose

Once again looking at the first two Suggestions Cars pages by Likes.

BMW M1 1979
Peugeot 208 Pikes Peak 2013
Lancia Rally 037 1983
Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale 1967
BMW M5 E39 2001
Ford Escort Mk1 RS2000 1972
Ferrari 599XX 2010

I’m not predicting these in the next update, but they are some very strong suggestions from brands that are well represented with a host of special models. I mean, each car being extreme versions representing their respected car classes. These seven cars continue to jump out at me no matter how much I reread all the cars on the first two pages by likes.

Just to stoke some fires, recently we've seen the whole "cars and stuff from the last update highlighted before the next one" thing going on. It's not a solid pattern at the moment but:

Scapes highlight - ~24 days before next update
Extra Menu highlight - ~21 days before next update
Car #1 highlight - 12-14 days before next update
Car #2 highlight - 8-12 days before next update
[Car #3 highlight - 5-7 days before next update]
Silhouettes - 4-6 days before next update
Final car highlight - 2-3 days before next update

For the next update we've had:

Scapes highlight - April 3rd
Extra Menu highlight - April 9th
Car #1 (Vantage) highlight - April 23rd

There's clearly been a bigger gap between EM and Car #1 - and actually I think the Scapes/EM highlights are keyed to arrive after the last update, rather than before the next one - but if we take that into account, Car #2 should be coming pretty soon (April 29th as a outside edge on the standard gap, more likely around May 1). Then we could either see Silhouettes on May 2-4 and Car #3 the following week, or Car #3 next week and Silhouettes on May 9-11.

I think the latter is more likely, as next week is still mid-season for Nations Cup and they rarely dump an update into an active official season, so May 15th seems the obvious course.

And then the end of June for the one after that...

I wonder if the June 7th event will have something they plan to announce or if they'll release an early May update to lead into a reveal at GTWS then late June update as well..
