@TheOldavemen @LOGI_Rich
I'm pretty confident I have the same issue as TheOldavemen, but on PlayStation 5. All was fine, including after the v1.29/v1.30 GT7 updates until I installed the latest firmware update v7.00 (3/8/23).
Since the firmware update the Force Feedback, in my opinion is extremely weak. Also, I don't know how to describe it, but the guts of the feedback motors are "slapping" the more you turn at a high speed.
I've experienced a similar knocking from a stand still start like in the video TheOldavemen posted, but not as violent as that before and after any updates. I thought it was normal, but I could be wrong.
My wheel settings are:
Max Force Feedback Torque is 2
Force Feedback Sensitivity is 3
I turned them up 4 & 5, then 6 & 7 respectively and it seemed to make the wheel feel "fake stronger". (Again, not a good description I know). Kinda like a budget wheel or feedback driven by a rubber band, but now stronger rubber band.
BEFORE the firmware update, I would turn the PlayStation on, the wheel would go full left then full right then center.
I'd start GT7 and when the Sony Interactive logo appeared the wheel would jerk, center, make a locking noise, and get tight. Ran great the whole session.
AFTER the firmware update, I turn the PlayStation on, the wheel would go full left then full right then center.
I'd start GT7 and now when the Sony Interactive logo appears... nothing. Wheel feels loose. Plus, I have to really get on the brake to get 100% braking and sometimes even then it's not 100%. Before the update, I'd have to push down almost 90ish% and get 100% braking. Feels like now I'm going to break the pedal with how hard I have to push.
So far only once, my first time out after updating the firmware, the wheel actually just cut out with no steering control but everything else worked: pedals & buttons. Just no steering input and no feedback at all, like it was unplugged from the outlet.
It does not feel right in my opinion. The wheel feels blah now, and I'm not getting the same experience and have the same confidence as I did before.
I have tried plugging the wheel into a different USB port, back to front. Same issue.
I tried a different outlet, both directly into the outlet and back in a surge protected strip. Same issue.
I don't have an easy way to plug the wheel into a PC or game to play to see if the Force Feedback is strong and rule out it's a wheel issue, which I don't think it is. Quite the coincidence that the wheel would poop out at the same time a firmware update is done.
Hope this helps and can get resolved. Of course, I don't want the wheel damaged, but I'd hate not to use it.
Thanks in advance for any help you or anyone else can give.
