Tested out a few and my lord, I knew the AI on Professional Difficulty was atrocious but didnt know the rubber banding is this bad.

Did 2 20 Minute Races, one at Trial Mountain and Northen Isle Speedway and they were a sight to behold.

First Trial Mountain, I was naturally going 1 Second slower than the top running A.I (Dodge and a Ford) as they were consistently doing 1:56s which I only reach once. That's fine as its definitely a skill thing on my part that I need to improve on and is quite fun but I was dumbfounded at what came after.

Halfway in I and the Dodge Viper in front pitted while the leader Ford stayed out for much longer, when we rejoined suddenly I was gaining on the Ford 5 seconds a lap and was able to pass the Viper and get a 10 second on it until the Ford pitted and we both passed it taking me to 1st. Then suddenly the Viper started gaining, which would be expected as the AI were naturally faster than me but now the Viper was pulling 1:53s out of nowhere before it was right up my 🤬 at the finish line

Didnt even feel like I won that due speed or strategy and just exploited a huge hole in how Professional difficulty A.I are designed for Custom Race

Then Northen Isle Speedway, the small track lets you see the rubber band first hand when the A.I suddenly decides to speed off like bullets and slams right through you in the process after you lapped them

I did many many custom races with random weather, always putting the first weather slot in dry/sunshine, hoping to be surprised by rain but it never comes. The worst it's getting is dark clouds. I tried it on various racetracks. Is there anything I'm missing?

Got a rabbit’s foot handy? :sly:

Seriously, with my random weather setting, I’m more likely to get rain at Fuji and Tsukuba than any other tracks. Nurb 24, Autopolis, and Spa would next. Suzuka and Dragon Trail Gardens are about equal with the amount of time I get rain on random. Surprisingly I recently got rain at the Nurb Endurance layout. Thought wet weather was unavailable for that layout.

Le Mans is hit or miss for me and I rarely get rain at High Speed Ring.

I’ve started using ChatGPT with Wolfram in combination with the Custom Races to keep track of championships and provide commentary on the results of my races. This has completely revolutionized GT7 for me, so if you have time to fine-tune things a bit to do things this way, it might be worth it for you too. I used to keep a spreadsheet for custom race championships but now ChatGPT can calculate the standings just based on giving it a scoring system and sending it screenshots of the race results. Also, if you do this, use the Wolfram version of ChatGPT or the points will not add up right after a few races.

A longer race to celebrate Petit Le Mans tomorrow :

Always difficult to avoid collisions with the AI here (heavy damages on), a lot of crashes! Some GT cars were lacking competitiveness, probably because I made this BoP for Le Mans only.
My best lap was a 1'15 something, but that damn rubberbanded AI could have qualify just behind the Proton Porsche this evening...

Finally had enough money to buy enough GT500 cars and getting ready to build a custom Super GT500 Championship. Working on the liveries now.

I could copy the official teams but I decided to make this custom Super GT distinct with a handful of old livery ideas and return teams but joining a bunch of new original ones. Grid is 18 Cars split between 6 each of the 3 brands.

Currently have 11ish of the 18 Teams ready to go...

Now just playing around with the race settings to see what works best. I'll be piloting the #5 Fox Racing NSX. Thinking of adding weight ballast over the course of the season but unsure how relevant thatll impact the A.I.

Does anyone know how to randomise grids, I dont think there is an option but I dont want the same starting grid every time...

Edit: @Com Fox Unfortunately we have to place the AI garage cars ourselves. Would be nice to have such an option when set to Random.

Probably closest finish I’ve had with the AI.

Entering the Variante Ascari, I had just passed P5. Exiting the Variante Ascari, P3 had a shaky exit and I was able to just out accelerate it by the time we all got to the Parabolica.

More Group A stuffs.

Messing with a Daytona Speedway grid and I have to use Counter steering. The AI just pit me any moment they can. That's nothing new, but I thought I could do without any aids like usual and feel like I'm driving the car.

Cloudy start to the Championship but they sky cleared halfway through
Gran Turismo™ 7_20241017202124.jpg
Got spun straight away at turn 3 by the Tomica GT-R (something poetic about the Fox car getting taken out by the Wolf car)

In my efforts to catch up, I got spun again by the Marelli GT-R in 5th making me do it all over again (wish the A.I didn't just slowed when this happened)

After 1st round of pit stops, Xanavi GT-R got beat the other front runners and would eventually lead after everyones pit stops before I overtook and was pretty much smooth sailing from there for me

Don't know what strategy the Valvoline NSX did but it overtook everyone from the pits alone, on the first set of stops it came out in front of all the non front runners mentioned before

Don't know what the Australian Dragon NSX was going but it definitely wasn't winning. Pitted far later than everyone else and always ended up in last anyway.

After the 2nd round of pit stops the Valvoline NSX big brain stop strategy pushed it to 2nd and was holding it until a last minut overtake from the Xanavi GT-R to drop it to 3rd

I really like your idea, Super GT fans here, are your liveries available for download? Great work anyway!

Just a quick test. Didn't need Counter Steering. Cars are stock with just a wheel change and wide offset.

Did a run at Northern Isle. So tough to pass over the 10 laps and only moved up to 18th. Should be good for longer laps and pit stops.

Beautiful looking grid!

Are they all on completely same settings and tunes ?

Yes. Stock settings on the CS compound. Just 16" American Racing Outlaw wheels with wide offset only.
The cars handle really well. I drove it before, when it was first added, but since all these physics updates, it's a refreshing car to drive.

As for Daytona, I think I was topping 280-290 kph with the stock transmission. Pretty stable.

They are now. Not sure if I did the tags right to find them as I never uploaded anything before.

Clear weather throughout, I really like how Tsukuba looks on with the grid lined up like thay with these cars. Though admittedly the race lacked highlights

Unlike High Speed Ring, I'm not partically good at this circuit, combined with the 20kg ballast I have now lead to prolong fights at the back

I can do this all day.

I did a race with pit stops and while it was fun, the AI spread out too much on pit exit and they’re too slow accelerating up to speed. Even with the AI having better fuel economy than me(61% to my 59%) I waa able to accelerate much quicker passing many cars through the banking.

Trying The Glen, Laguna Seca and St Croix. Hopefully the programming gives the similar battles as the ovals.

Once again clear weather throughout. The Lexus cars went ahead on some early jumps unfortunately it didn't last for them.

At this stage, these are the three stooges always battling to not come on last.

Crazy lap as I was catching up. The BLITZ Lexus ran wide and caused a slow down on the Loctite NSX and lead to this sandwhich which ended with both Hondas making it out and we got s train of Hondas catching my Championship rival
Gran Turismo™ 7_20241022175504.jpg
Gran Turismo™ 7_20241022175521.jpg
Immediately the next lap the Castrol was being tossed around like a ragdoll after failing to pass the BLITZ which turned into a bump. The bump from the Marelli did put it back to not be a complete spin out.
Gran Turismo™ 7_20241022175545.jpg
Did cause a bit of a jam that the Sabelt GT-R capitalized on now in the potential to get points
Gran Turismo™ 7_20241022175731.jpg
I miscalculated and pitted early which meant I had to go on defensive and slow down on the 2nd half or I wouldn't make it to the end, I did gain one place after everyone else has pitted
Gran Turismo™ 7_20241022175956.jpg
Gran Turismo™ 7_20241022180113.jpg
If it wasn't bad enough for Lexus the BLITZ came out 11th from originally running 5th as the Sabelt GT-R look to have an excelent one coming out in 8th
Gran Turismo™ 7_20241022180201.jpg
Gran Turismo™ 7_20241022180305.jpg
Decided to try and push for 1st anyway before going defensive to save fuel. Fortunately the A.I like the slow on Turn 3 so it gives me breathing room

Gran Turismo™ 7_20241022180724.jpg

Fortunately the A.I were battling each other as well as being chased though the grander picture makes it look like I'm being chased by a bunch of Smurfs with all the blue cars in the higher end positions
Gran Turismo™ 7_20241022181015.jpg
The Marelli GT-R ended up making the same mistake as the BLITZ which allowed the EPSON to take back the position and nearly lost it further to the Loctite NSX
Gran Turismo™ 7_20241022181304.jpg
One of the weirder battles in the final lap which let me run away with it at the end as the Valvoline NSX made one final move at the chicane which lead both it and the Xanavi GT-R to go on and off the trach which the Valvoline NSX won out in the end for 2nd

Custom Races against garage cars, is exactly what I wished for, for a long time ago. This is what I made. My own custom Gr.3 race, all fully upgraded with high-powered turbos/superchargers and full-racing transmission set at 360 KM/H for each car, they can reach speeds of over 300 KM/H. Plus I named these drivers, from GRID series and Clifford the big red dog. : D

Interesting quirks and idea which altered my Super GT Championship a bit

  • Broad Bean Race is horrible with the Super GT cars, so I cancelled it and moving on to Suzuka as the 4th round when originally it was 5th. The Fuel reliance meant Honda just had an unfair advantage and would get Top 6 unless the A.I get slow down by lapped traffic. Still be 10 rounds and will eventually replace Broad Bean with something
  • To prevent starting repetition as it looks like Lexus have no chance at the manufacturers championship due to the results of race 1. I'm now doing a Pseudo-Qualifying where I'll do a 2 Lap race and take the CPUs time on Lap 2 to determine the Grid Order (with me starting in last otherwise the rubberbanding would give me poll everytime )
  • Since the Ballast isnt that effective with the A.I Rubberbanding. It now only applies to me
Just did Suzuka Qualifying and the Grid already looks very interesting for the actual Round 4
