Not to post off topic in the Car of the Week thread. I didnā€™t do the GT500 NSX Challenge as set up by @XSquareStickIt but I did do the 300km Grand Valley with Group A cars. Iā€™m surprised the complete race of 2:05:01 actually saved!

AI did the normal butt kicking pace for the first 32 laps. Was stuck behind the 7th place RS 500 for nearly an hour after it completed its pit stop. Would have been longer if the knucklehead programming made it stay behind the slow moving backmarker. Caught the leaders with about 15 laps to go, but I had to pit on Lap 50.

I made one spin less than ten minutes into the race and a second one mid-race. Also, a third and final spin with four laps to go. The AI said, ā€œSee ya wouldnā€™t wanna be ya!ā€ and just poured on the pace even more. Too much fun with these cars.

An experimental custom race idea I have: Running race cars against each other based on PP, regardless of its actual group placement. And yes, this is supposed to have relation with race car classing discourse. All races are run for 5 laps with 6x tire wear and grid start (no fuel wear) and mostly stock cars.

The 800 PP class consists of Gr.3s, XJ13, 330 P4, Mark IV, 917K, regular R.S.01, AMG VGT RS, BMW VGT, and Alpine VGT Race.

The 700 PP class consists of Gr.4s, Gr.Bs, Cobra Daytona, 250 GTO, RA272, and A220.

That is an idea I've had in the back of my head myself, taking a bunch of race cars and race car replica's based on different series/era's, sort them into "pp brackets" and then randomly select a grid of said cars and see how it goes. Nice to see someone else thinking along similar lines.

I've also considered an idea inspired by a couple of DCS Youtube series called bandit unknown and dogfight everything, wherein I select a car, then randomly select opponents of varying PP levels (cars could be 500pp, could be 900 pp), setup an "endurance" race with tire wear(no fuel use due to the discrepancy between Race and Road car fuel usage), start at the back, and see how far I can climb up the order.

A proposal I've heard to reform the race car grouping is to use car type tags. For that purpose, I experimented using the Le Mans tag for this purpose, which appears to be primarily Gr.1 minus the VGTs, instead having the three "loophole" GT1s in Gr.2, the three oldies necessary for a PSN trophy, and a lone Gr.3 in F1 GTR '95.

All races are run at the tag's home track, La Sarthe, for 4 laps, with 6x tires, and no fuel wear, as well with grid start.

Without BoP enabled:

When I noticed the high population of Gr.1 cars, I decided to run it again with BoP enabled (and some grid shuffling). The result is:

In summary, the car tags by itself, at least the way it (at least, for the Le Mans tag) works right now wouldn't solve the car classing issue either. An idea I came up is dividing the Le Mans tag into one for prototypes and GTs, but that would just be reinventing the groups again unless you also divide them by era.

Hey folks. Iā€™m working on a plug n play career which combines the custom one I made with some new events. I realised when I got on the other week that, I just didnā€™t feel like going through the effort to set up an event for a fully custom event. At the moment Iā€™d rather just jump in and play.

And so this career is a bit shorter/stripped down and focused entirely on minimal set up. Pick a car, meet the PP and tyre regulations, set the track, and let the game populate the grid for you.

The only extra bit of management is the ECU/power limiter thing, but no management is required for making sure the AI donā€™t have your lower ECU percentage as itā€™s all random opponents or one-makes.

It is insane how much better GT7 is just by making it a grid start and slapping the boost on weak. Itā€™s not perfect, but it actually feels like a race. And while Iā€™d love a full career, I donā€™t always feel like setting it up. But also, I want that expanded career feel. So maybe this can scratch the itch for some folks! A mid-point between freeform races and committing to a full career/setting up an event with all the parameters (if you wanted to do the fully custom route for the custom career).

Hoping to have it out by Friday! Since I already have the events set up for stuff like endurances, itā€™s just a case of bringing those over and stripping them down a bit.

You start in a road car championship, and instead of points tracking, you must achieve a certain number of wins to move to the next league/series. The benefit here is thereā€™s less management, but it still has a sense of ā€œI need to get x number of wins otherwise I wonā€™t make itā€, like needing a certain number of points to finish a series at a certain position in the standings.

Iā€™ll likely add some themed events but it will be less dense than the custom career - though the high end motorsport events will still be full size, so to speak - but I removed some and focused on more mainstream events. So, basically, it takes less time to get there, but you still have progression and the later parts have a lot to sink your teeth into.

Also, I recently picked up a third project mentioned a year or two back - a Tokyo Xtreme Racer inspired career with rivals, teams, bosses, and win conditions emulating that series in a way which blends with GT7. Thatā€™s quite a big one so it will be some time until thatā€™s done. The recent announcement of a new TXR game sparked my active interest in it again, although I always like to be working on something, so it works out for me in that sense, too.

What if WTC 700 and WTC 800 took place at BB Raceway?

Here's some custom event posters if they were in the game, they almost look legit right?:

Not sure if this is right thread for this post, but I did mentioned that I made custom event posters so here I go, I have made more too.

WTC700 event has custom liveries which is not canon-accurate to the in-game ones

Edit: I posted these on my DeviantArt now!

Some more, same events but different tracks this time.

WTC 700 - Tokyo Expressway East Counterclockwise (Underrated and Underused Layout in favor of the Clockwise layout almost everytime. My favorite race to do in custom race)
WTC 800 - AutĆ³dromo de Interlagos

WTC700_TokyoExpresswayEastCounterclockwise.png WTC800_Interlagos.png

Note that the WTC 800 shows a custom Bugatti Veyron Gr.3 car in the poster, this is where it could go if a Bugatti Veyron Gr.3 were ever added.

Edit: Both photos are now available on DeviantArt

This is how I wish Sport Mode races would vary with grids.

RWD only cars.

When I used to do the Dailies I enjoyed the FF only races. Just wish PD did the same with the other drivetrains. Been having good battles with World Tour WTC700/Gr.4 settings and single drivetrains.

Some more but now a new event rather than an existing one, but this event would be as a Bonus Menu Book (Evolution Meeting from GT3 and GT4)

(The latter photos show the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR Premium Package '07 and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX GSR '05 in the photo which are not in the game but uses their new counterparts as the base, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR Premium Package '07 and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR GSR '06)

Update: May be out tonight, tomorrow at the latest. As usual... it grew a bit. 219 races + endurance/Formula events, along with a few rally events. I've renamed it to Arcade Mode, as it feels like it fits that mould well.

You should be able to save the settings for the first race in, say, the Super Series, and load that settings data in for every race in the Super Series. The only thing which changes is time of day, which is user choice.

The only deviation is in the Rally Series, where two events use a couple of different settings, this being a different number of cars for one, and fuel consumption for the other.

Not for nothing and itā€™s a bit late in the piece, but should this thread be up where Online Racing, Livery Editor, Photos and Car Tuning are? This is a thread thatā€™s almost like the Video and screenshot thread(where I feel that could be in the Photos area as well). Itā€™s active then drops a bit and then becomes more active.
Just saying for two years many members have come up with ideas, solutions, championships and leagues theyā€™d like to share and do share. Too many to place in the OP. Would it be more convenient for members to post in its their own sub forum? Iā€™m fine with everyone doing what they continue to do. Seriously, no problem whatsoever from me. Maybe itā€™s easier to track down a particular race set up from members in a different space that has branches. Thatā€™s all.

I was looking at the amount of views compared to other threads and forums, but maybe there arenā€™t as many participants that share as in those other threads. Again, no dramas from me.

I really really really needs me a 1990s FF sedan. The Civic TC is a blessing, but I need that extra bit of immersion from a Primera or Accord for a proper Super Tourer.

How did you manage to get those Civics this competitive? I struggle to balance them again cars like the e36

I'll have to wait to post the gearing when I get home. I think I have maximum speed set at 271-273km/h. Power and weight are about 276-280bhp/950kg(2094lbs).

The E36 is at Post #8

298bhp/1138kg(2509lbs)
4.7 final drive/281km/h

Just started getting into the settings of custom race after grinding a few credits.

Going for something simple and cheap to start with, a Group 4 Championship with Corvette, Mustang and Viper using their liveries x 2 (akin to teammates) filling the grid with me driving one of the yellow Corvettes (White Mustang, Red Viper and Yellow Corvette are the main manufacturer teams). Like an American Supercars Championship in a way. Got to put in driver names for a full fledge season if anyone has any recommendation for names :P

A bit of a question for a starter. If I were to set the races to 20 minutes, what fuel and tyre degredation setting should I use to encourage pit stops?

I mimic some of the WTC700 & WTC800 race set ups for pit stops. Fuel & Tyre wear around 7x or 8x should be good for 20 minutes. Your AI only use the RH, while in the World Circuit races the AI vary with RH-RS.

The problem with the AI in custom races is that even if you equip a higher grade of Racing Tires like Mediums or Softs like in the WTC700 and WTC800 events on the cars, they will always go back to Racing Hards, which is ironic . I think the worst offenders are cars with Comfort Softs or less by default, such as the Honda S2000 '99, if equipped with Sports Hards or higher, but not using any less than Sports Softs. I made an event on 30 Minute Race on Tsukuba with Tuned Cars as a reference to the Tsukuba 9hr Endurance and technically that Pit in or Stay out Mission as well but with my own spin. The S2000 in the roles of the Opera Performance and AEM S2000 were always put on Comfort Tires even when I put them Sports Tires.

This could be fixed if there were a button to change the opponent car's tires in the same place where the Change Car, Adjust Grid, and Change Driver Name buttons are. (There is an update coming up so maybe they will fix it? yeah no)
