That is an idea I've had in the back of my head myself, taking a bunch of race cars and race car replica's based on different series/era's, sort them into "pp brackets" and then randomly select a grid of said cars and see how it goes. Nice to see someone else thinking along similar lines. An experimental custom race idea I have: Running race cars against each other based on PP, regardless of its actual group placement. And yes, this is supposed to have relation with race car classing discourse. All races are run for 5 laps with 6x tire wear and grid start (no fuel wear) and mostly stock cars.
The 800 PP class consists of Gr.3s, XJ13, 330 P4, Mark IV, 917K, regular R.S.01, AMG VGT RS, BMW VGT, and Alpine VGT Race.

I really really really needs me a 1990s FF sedan. The Civic TC is a blessing, but I need that extra bit of immersion from a Primera or Accord for a proper Super Tourer.
Update: May be out tonight, tomorrow at the latest. As usual... it grew a bit. 219 races + endurance/Formula events, along with a few rally events. I've renamed it to Arcade Mode, as it feels like it fits that mould well.Hey folks. Iām working on a plug n play career which combines the custom one I made with some new events. I realised when I got on the other week that, I just didnāt feel like going through the effort to set up an event for a fully custom event. At the moment Iād rather just jump in and play.
And so this career is a bit shorter/stripped down and focused entirely on minimal set up. Pick a car, meet the PP and tyre regulations, set the track, and let the game populate the grid for you.
The only extra bit of management is the ECU/power limiter thing, but no management is required for making sure the AI donāt have your lower ECU percentage as itās all random opponents or one-makes.
It is insane how much better GT7 is just by making it a grid start and slapping the boost on weak. Itās not perfect, but it actually feels like a race. And while Iād love a full career, I donāt always feel like setting it up. But also, I want that expanded career feel. So maybe this can scratch the itch for some folks! A mid-point between freeform races and committing to a full career/setting up an event with all the parameters (if you wanted to do the fully custom route for the custom career).
Hoping to have it out by Friday! Since I already have the events set up for stuff like endurances, itās just a case of bringing those over and stripping them down a bit.
You start in a road car championship, and instead of points tracking, you must achieve a certain number of wins to move to the next league/series. The benefit here is thereās less management, but it still has a sense of āI need to get x number of wins otherwise I wonāt make itā, like needing a certain number of points to finish a series at a certain position in the standings.
Iāll likely add some themed events but it will be less dense than the custom career - though the high end motorsport events will still be full size, so to speak - but I removed some and focused on more mainstream events. So, basically, it takes less time to get there, but you still have progression and the later parts have a lot to sink your teeth into.
Also, I recently picked up a third project mentioned a year or two back - a Tokyo Xtreme Racer inspired career with rivals, teams, bosses, and win conditions emulating that series in a way which blends with GT7. Thatās quite a big one so it will be some time until thatās done. The recent announcement of a new TXR game sparked my active interest in it again, although I always like to be working on something, so it works out for me in that sense, too.

I'll have to wait to post the gearing when I get home. I think I have maximum speed set at 271-273km/h. Power and weight are about 276-280bhp/950kg(2094lbs).How did you manage to get those Civics this competitive? I struggle to balance them again cars like the e36
I mimic some of the WTC700 & WTC800 race set ups for pit stops. Fuel & Tyre wear around 7x or 8x should be good for 20 minutes. Your AI only use the RH, while in the World Circuit races the AI vary with RH-RS.Just started getting into the settings of custom race after grinding a few credits.
Going for something simple and cheap to start with, a Group 4 Championship with Corvette, Mustang and Viper using their liveries x 2 (akin to teammates) filling the grid with me driving one of the yellow Corvettes (White Mustang, Red Viper and Yellow Corvette are the main manufacturer teams). Like an American Supercars Championship in a way. Got to put in driver names for a full fledge season if anyone has any recommendation for names
A bit of a question for a starter. If I were to set the races to 20 minutes, what fuel and tyre degredation setting should I use to encourage pit stops?
The problem with the AI in custom races is that even if you equip a higher grade of Racing Tires like Mediums or Softs like in the WTC700 and WTC800 events on the cars, they will always go back to Racing Hards, which is ironic . I think the worst offenders are cars with Comfort Softs or less by default, such as the Honda S2000 '99, if equipped with Sports Hards or higher, but not using any less than Sports Softs. I made an event on 30 Minute Race on Tsukuba with Tuned Cars as a reference to the Tsukuba 9hr Endurance and technically that Pit in or Stay out Mission as well but with my own spin. The S2000 in the roles of the Opera Performance and AEM S2000 were always put on Comfort Tires even when I put them Sports Tires.I mimic some of the WTC700 & WTC800 race set ups for pit stops.
