Can't you turn track reset off? Maybe I'm wrong, thought you could.
You can, but certain parts of the track are still off limits even with it toggled off. Typically, stay away from the center area of the track and it won't reset you. I've done plenty of off-roading on the outskirts and hilly parts.

Thank you! Didn't even know there's such stuff in the editor!
Yeah, PD are a bit weird with where they place optional parts for cars.

Alrighty, got at the Z4 “GT4” to do all the WTC700 races. Was staring at the widebody option with my eye twitching. Pulled the trigger without testing the stock body first.

Ran it at WTC700 Laguna Seca for its first stop on the tour. Like Salt-N-Peppa said, “My mic sounds nice!”. In VR there is no hud option for an rpm gauge. So, that needle is pinned at “7” on the dial(props to gtp members that own a Z4 for real. I’m digging that gauge cluster!) and the wail from the exhaust is awesome! I think my Super Taikyu Spoon FK8 will be in the shed for a long time. Just can’t beat an NA engine(the straight-six contingent is heavy in this game!).

Anyway, with the car set up with suspension numbers that match PD default Gr.4 settings, along with Gr.4 downforce settings, the car is loverly. Started in RH for the first five laps and steadily moved up the field. Biggest surprise was fuel use. A solid five laps without short shifting. Tyre wear was barely red tops at all four corners. At the pit stop I switched to RS(tyre wear was still good before I crossed the finish line). Plus, fuel was at 0.8 laps left. Might have to drop the gears to a 3.27 or 3.55 and maybe adjust weight to 1250kg as I progress. Dope car.

Is anyone else noticing that a lot of the new "showcase events" are a lot harder than the recommended PP/the base game events? And no, it's not a "skill issue", the AI are just using faster cars. In the new European Sunday Cup race, which is supposed to be 400 PP, there's an AI that uses a M3 '97, which is close to 500!
They actually took cars from Sunday Cup 500 and put them into the new 400 event. :irked:

We don't need actually any new Events because you can setup your own with Custom Races.
The Payouts that you getting from your own Custom Races are almost the same as you getting it from the regular/PD Races.
The Monthly Races from the Updates are anyways Useless.

The only problem with custom races is the ai is bugged. The top three cars will pull away and the remaining ai cars pretty much do a formation lap for the entire race

If I were advising PD on update PR strategy regarding these unique vehicles, I think what I'd be telling them is to make sure there's something else that grabs the headlines in that update. Ideally that'd be a track or a big feature, but clearly those are very slow going. But, for instance, if you put the Unimog in the Urus' spot in March 2024, I think it'd get a lot less blowback because the part of the fanbase that is more critical towards it would be focused on the GT-One.

In contrast, cars like the 205 and the Z4, or the '24 GT-R and the Evo VIII that were alongside the Hiace, are like the milk in your cereal - perfectly suitable and you want them to be there in the bowl/game, but not at all discussion starters or headliners. Which means the divisiveness of the Unimog/Hiace gets amplified because it's the only part of their respective updates that people have a lot to say about.

Both the Unimog and the 205 are very familiar vehicles, at least here in Europe. But I understand the US use only muscle cars instead ;)
The unimog here was an old ford. I’ve even put a 12ft ish box on one..but that was the 90’s. We just don’t have anything with that kind of look. As close as i can recall would be various military supply trucks. Not that those things are remotely similar, its just as close as we get

Get over yourself, unimog is an important part of automotive history
Which brings me to heavy thoughts, made me think what American make is an important part of automotive history that HAS NOT been part of the Gran Turismo series...
Ford GT40
Chevy Corvette
Dodge Charger
Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe
Buick GNX
Plymouth Superbird
Chapparal 2D, 2J
Willys Jeep
32 Ford Coupe
They have been in game, cannot really think of a significant American car of history that has not made it in game....

I do like that PD adds vehicles like the Unimog, hiAce, safety cars and other quirky roadcars, but when there are only race tracks in the game and the only (official) thing to do in the game is racing (official game events, not the “role play” online lobbies people make) it doesn’t really make sense… With vehicles like this, the game could really do with environments were these vehicles can be properly utilized, like a free roam road network with a city part, country roads, a highway, off road trails etc. Because now you basically have to use the game in a way that it doesn’t really wants to be used, just properly use the vehicles the developers themselves have added to the game… it’s weird right?

I have a question - the Z4 has had a weird path through the series in that it's a car that was in GT4, but was deemed important enough to re-scan and make Premium in GT5, but had to wait this long to make it back after the Sport refresh.

There can't be many other cars like that remaining to add, where they were in a PS2 game and then upgraded to Premium in the PS3 days, right? Most of them I assume are super important cars that are already in GT7.

GT has never had a classic Cadillac, of which there are many, the '59 models with ostentatious tailfins, an initmidatingly palatial 70s land yacht (the grandest of which is the Fleetwood Talisman), or the mighty V16 of the 1930s.

GT has also never had an Oldsmobile (besides Jay Leno's custom 1000hp Toronado in GT6) and there's many beauties in that lineup, like the 442.

Studebaker made some funny looking cars, like the Champion, but also the unbelievably fast and impressive (and doomed) Avanti.

No Woodie wagons?

The Mercury Eight is quite iconic.

Even in well-represented brands like Ford, there's room for other types of car like the Fairlane 500 Skyliner, Galaxie or Pinto.

The Legend Car Dealership could sure use deep cuts like the Chrysler Airflow, Dusenberg J, Phantom Corsair, Cord 810 and Tucker 48.

I'd better stop, this is sounding awfully wishlistesque.

VXR
That swap for the Demio is so bizarre. Was hoping it would be a K24 swap to keep it somewhat sane.
Yeh I saw this on the "JustHungaming" channel for GT7 and thought this would be fun to try. Will give it a go today and see how mental I make that little MAZDA 2!!!

Special missions for these vehicles would be neat, such as the lunar rover missions in 6. They'd still only get played once or twice though. I wonder how much extra storage space they would occupy...

I had a minute, so I did the research on this myself. It's not a long list.

These are all the remaining cars that, like the Z4 before this update, are a) included in GT4, b) included in GT6 and were upgraded to a Premium model, and c) not yet in GT7.

Cars marked with a * were only Premium in GT6, not in GT5; cars in the second list are from brands not yet in the game at all so are less likely to show up.

  • Mazda Autozam AZ-1 '92
  • Mazda MX-5 J-Limited (NA) '91
  • Mazda RX-7 Type R (FD) '91
  • Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG (R230) '02
  • Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI GSR TME '00* (not the special colour one that's in GT7, there's a lot of Evo VI trims)
  • Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI RS TME '00*
  • Suzuki Cappuccino (EA21R) '95
  • TVR Tamora '02
  • Volkswagen Golf IV GTI '01
  • Volkswagen Golf V GTI '05

  • Acura NSX '91
  • Bentley Speed 8 '03*
  • Cizeta V16T '94*
  • Lotus Elise 111R '04
  • Lotus Esprit V8 '02

We all know why Lotus aren’t in the game, but Bentley is a surprise omission for me.

They also weren’t included in the GT3 cars

PD has been struggling to keep up with modelling cars since the HD era started, the current list is a weird mish mash of random classics, some updated models from GT5/6 and a small handful of modern cars. The list is barely coherent and you can poke so many holes in it. They really need to increase the number of modellers and lean harder on outsourcing.

I was browsing the latest 205 liveries and found it odd that most were produced to look like the stock livery of the car already in the game. Suppose its a bit like all the Imprezas.
On the Impreza theme, maybe the 2010 hatch version could be added to bridge the gap to WRX STI
