Well, they already have somewhat, and it will only continue to do so.I could see updates slowing down a bit this year maybe towards mid/end
The Era of Micro Transactions has been upon us. Highest Grossing title isn't a hard task when we're having to pay to for pay items that never existed in GT1 to GT5. Considering games like Black Ops 6 has a micro purchases totaling approx for skins at $800.This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:
Gran Turismo 7 is the Series’ Highest-Grossing Title in the USA
According to recent information shared by video game industry analyst Mat Piscatella, Gran Turismo 7 is now the highest-grossing title in the entire series in the US market...

OK 👌There are no items in GT7 that are only available through microtransactions. You don't need to pay any money at all to get anything in GT7.
The credits are freely available in game. You don't need to pay money for them. I have everything obtainable in the game and haven't spent a penny on credits.OK 👌
That's just the microtransactions which I wrote about at launch.OK 👌

These type of transactions aren't essential to using the title. But holding a title of Highest Grossing Title wouldn't have happened without. That's all I'm stating. The credits are freely available in game. You don't need to pay money for them. I have everything obtainable in the game and haven't spent a penny on credits.

I say this as someone who's been with the franchise for far too long now: how?
Is it the multiplayer? Because GT7 is the worst from a pure video game perspective, and it even falls behind GT Sport in a few regards.
It has to be the multiplayer...
No, I get all of that. I guess I wasn't necessarily expecting this to be perfectly honest.A big part of it is inflation. The analysis is looking purely at dollars taken, and GT7 sells for a higher price than any other title in the franchise (because of inflation).
Can't deny any of this. That said it has sold incredibly well, and for all its flaws, of which there are many, it's completely unmatched in terms of visuals and driving mechanics "on Playstation". It also has its brand name going for it. Most casual gamers who want a racing game will know of Gran Turismo, and much less of Assetto Corsa. Beyond that there's very little competition.
Going off of trophy statistics, 88% of PS5 GT7 players have not completed a single Sport Mode race.I say this as someone who's been with the franchise for far too long now: how?

Bro these are not essential to the game, experience or even for items that would otherwise be unavailable. It's just extra money to buy cars. Which, quite frankly should cost money if you are too lazy to race and earn it. It's doesn't give you a competitive advantage. But nice of you to post a screen shot with some dismissive attitude. Male Karen over here folksOK 👌
Dude your not even good at trolling.Man, you must be fun to hang out with. 😂

It's really not the multiplayer.
The brand name/logo is known even by "casuals"; if they buy a ps5 and are looking for a game they will recognize gt and buy it -> +1 saleI say this as someone who's been with the franchise for far too long now: how?

I’d be interested to see player hours for the various Gran Turismo’s. I know from my perspective I’ve put in multiple times more hours into GT7 than any other GT.I say this as someone who's been with the franchise for far too long now: how?
