GT social media finally put up the first featurette of the previous update's cars (the Escort) today. Since they've only done one so far, if they follow the normal pattern (ever since they started doing them, they put up all the car featurettes the month of the next update, about a week or so before the Kaz silhouettes) the update is going to be the 30th and not the 23rd as some were hoping for.
Witch original track from Gran Turismo past would return into GT7 in the next update with the highest prediction of?
1. Apricot Hill?
2. Mid Field Raceway?
3. Red Rock Valley?
4. Autumn Ring?
5. Cape Ring?
6. El Capitan?
7. Grindelwald?

This is a high possibility based on previous update release dates. The majority of the updates were released on the last Thursday of the month. Like this month, five of the previous update months had five Thursdays and the update was released on the fifth Thursday.
1.23 - 9/29/22
1.31 - 3/30/23
1.35 - 6/29/23
1.43 - 2/29/24
1.48 - 5/30/24

For the next update I think they will finally give the Cosworth engine swap. Also I would like to think the AZ1 would make appearance

Educated guess time:

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N
Hyundai i30N (my random theory being they’ll pad out Hyundai models a little at the same time as the Ioniq)
Mazda MX-5 RF (simple addition as very similar to the soft top, and PD like their simple reskins)

One non-content change that I'm thinking might be in the pipeline is slipstream/dirty air changes.

Sport Mode has been running Custom slipstream (less dirty air, more powerful slip) for a couple of months now for the higher downforce cars, but now they're running it even for Gr.3 and Gr.4 races, which to me feels like PD going "yes, we know this is an issue, here's a sticking plaster while we work on a proper solution".

My guesses:
  • Hyundai Ioniq 5 N
  • F3500-A
  • Some sort of meme car or an old Skoda (they need to add some cars to this brand)
  • A modern car
  • an 80s/90s car (pointing the Mazda AZ-1)

  • 3 New events, a new extra menù book, a new scapes location
  • A new feature coming in the Lobbies section

Would've been really cool if after the F3500 drops (which we all know is coming) they'd have used that car as part of the Nations races - at an actual F1 track - that were just released. Let's use that at RBR instead of Gr3 (as I am assuming a Manu series is right around the corner).

But, na'. We'll do cookie cutter races instead.

The copy-pasting of rounds from the GTWS finals into very short seasons will continue until morale improves. ;)

If the Gr.3 RBR round does end up being an exact copy of the mixed weather Manufacturers race from the mid-year finals, it's going to be a bit disappointing IMO. Seems like every other GTWS race is a copy of something from an earlier final these days.

The Autozam has been going like the Murcielago was in Sport - I thought it was surely one of the most obvious cars to be added in an update eventually, but it actually never came till the following game.

I still think the Autozam is likely, but I’ve thought it was likely since day 1.

Apricot Hill more than likely. And based on what they did to poor Grand Valley, if we get Autumn Ring I fear that it won't be recognizable.

What’s messed up is Forza have the Az-1 and a Stagea. Not to mention(though I will), a Pajero Evolution.
And the Toyota Sera. It was this particular car pack that made me buy Forza Horizon 5 on XSX after playing it on PC. Turns out my PC did not give me the full experience as I noticed details I hadn't previously seen. It's also easier to just plug and play.

Autumn Ring was always an early-game throwaway track. We all raced it so we all remember it but what do we remember about it?

The most memorable parts in my opinion were some tricky chicanes and falling leaves. The track could be almost anything as long as its autumn.

I do love the AZ1
Who needs that MR car when you can get the best MR car, the Midget II? I'm kidding.

I am absolutely dying over here hoping that the Midget gets added soon. I do welcome whatever is around the corner though.

No, I'm not biased, what are you on about?

I enjoyed the DTM race that was in the weekly races a bit ago. That and races like would a nice add at some point. I now have a good base of built DTMs spanning the decades. A grinder to play with them would be cool. IMPO.

(Edit. Come to think, that is likely what the country events are for.) :banghead:

Ya know….

If i were pd, games from EA sports etc or forza wouldn’t really bother me. Both brands have always been kinda 💩 coasting on reps decades old, phoning it in and all that.

Ac evo however seems to be everything I’d expected gt7 to be upon returning to gaming. Subsequently, personally(of course) it would be wise to have this update not suck as they have for north of a year now.

I’m hoping for a real swing at the physics problems, the ffb shortcomings, and would probably pump out a track. Maybe an actual race car or two. A vr update because its in many more hands post holiday/sale events. The whole here’s a couple of hoopties, and a few pseudo photography loc’s is very stale atm. Lets hope they figure it out…

PD has really not been worried, and I tell you why:

EA games cannot be directly compared to GT, too arcadey.
You can be on either camp, or you can even have both... Kaz wouldn't care.... GT is in its own path...

Forza has on occasion been a threat to GT, but really it's been trying to play catch up the whole time, and by now clearly falling by the way side...
Horizon is competing more with EA games and thus Kaz is not worried.

GT has some basic philosophies that it has been sticking to since pretty much from the start and has not deviated much since, staying focused on improving those core aspects and values with each iteration, mainly graphics to be the very best visually first....

If any worries Kaz and PD would have, it would be with iRacing and now ACC....
But even then they are not "chasing" nor going down that path fully.
They could but they are not, they are still striking a middle of the road, being hardcore in the middle of the road rather than hardcore iRacing competition...
As stop gap, That's why GT Sport and the Online Sport aspect has been implemented, and their attempt to associate themselves with the FiA, which was an extremely smart move, until the FiA was starting to get the big head and ego, and trying to take over controlling Kaz, FiA learning from the world of football/soccer where EA completely dominated and controlled the FIFA ..
And so GT7 decided to drop working with FiA, because FiA has mistakenly misunderstood and thought that Kaz would work like EA, but Kaz wanted to be fair and have equal footing and respect, but FiA were trying too hard controlling everything.

GT right now, (might change in the future), but for now, will not directly chase or compete with iRacing or ACC, because PD and Kaz still have the mindset that they have the responsibility to serve the 7-77 age range first and foremost, which i totally applaud, giving a wide range of people access to DECENT high quality ,not crappy not mindless but ok simulation motor fun in video games. Who else does that if GT or PD were not here... I wouldn't want a world where EA dominate!
The world is a better place thanks in part to Kaz and PD for their focus.

Yes I wish too, like you, that pD and Kaz would take on a bit more seriously iRacing or ACC, but I also don't want them to forget or drop what made me love GT in the first place....

KAz and PD can go on new adventure, as long as they still keep aspects of their core start philosophy available for the wide audience.

The money situation does prove it to Kaz and PD that they are on the right tract.
Why would they risks and drastically change Anything they do since PD and Sony is showing that GT is killing it with the market share they have...

Beating everything one else for 30 years straight, while still having the same core philosophy.... Having repeat customers...
It's like In and Out burgers... Why change when most people like what you do...

Sorry to say but the EA game and Forza is for "stupid" people, and iRacing and ACC is a bit too niche...

Simple as that: gT strikes the happy medium....

It's not too big, it's not too small, just right....

My dude…

pretty sure i stipulated all of the stuff you’ve pontificated on regarding ea sports, forza etc. and i didn’t mention ac or acc at all because of their obvious niche status.

The point of my post is:

AC Evo, is poised to be more gran turismo, than gran turismo. Unless pd does something about it soon. That if Ac Evo brings open world cruising, an intricate level of customization, and keeps their racing pedigree aspect intact, while supporting VR, to console, why open gt7? Personally, it sounds as if its everything the gran turismo series has always wanted to be..

..and that for the first time GT is facing an apples to apples comparison and im wondering if they have realized it yet.

As I'm typing this AC Evo has 2,932 players at peak time in Europe with a 24hr high of 3,905.

For comparison Forza Horizon 5 has 15,900 players with a high of 18,468.

AC Evo will always be limited by the size of it's dev team and allocated publisher budget. It's why the final game will launch with around 100 cars and 15 tracks. The much vaunted open world will be released in stages and I for one have no confidence the location in question will be compelling longer term. Neither do I expect AC Evo to support PSVR2 as the new engine is extremely heavy. We'll be fortunate to see a locked 60fps at 1080p-1440p. That's another benefit PD has with their focus on PlayStation hardware and experienced tech teams.

Assetto Corsa gained the following it did due to the modding scene. Something it never had on console and one of the reasons, along with poor controller support, it never made much impact. Without an unrestricted modding scene on PC AC Evo will find it's niche but not replace the original.

I'll be very interested to play AC Evo when it comes to console but I'm not expecting that for another year or two. By which time we'll be bang in the middle of the GT8 hype cycle. Of more concern to PD should be Forza Horizon 5 coming to PS5 in 2025.
