As I'm typing this AC Evo has 2,932 players at peak time in Europe with a 24hr high of 3,905.

For comparison Forza Horizon 5 has 15,900 players with a high of 18,468.

AC Evo will always be limited by the size of it's dev team and allocated publisher budget. It's why the final game will launch with around 100 cars and 15 tracks. The much vaunted open world will be released in stages and I for one have no confidence the location in question will be compelling longer term. Neither do I expect AC Evo to support PSVR2 as the new engine is extremely heavy. We'll be fortunate to see a locked 60fps at 1080p-1440p. That's another benefit PD has with their focus on PlayStation hardware and experienced tech teams.

Assetto Corsa gained the following it did due to the modding scene. Something it never had on console and one of the reasons, along with poor controller support, it never made much impact. Without an unrestricted modding scene on PC AC Evo will find it's niche but not replace the original.

I'll be very interested to play AC Evo when it comes to console but I'm not expecting that for another year or two. By which time we'll be bang in the middle of the GT8 hype cycle. Of more concern to PD should be Forza Horizon 5 coming to PS5 in 2025.
You can't do anything in AC Evo right now aside from hotlap a few cars around a few tracks. The player count and game state right now doesn't matter, what might is what it will be in the future.

the ac evo people seem to appreciate how critical vr is to many racers. Im pretty sure thats part of the reason they went with a new engine. Im going to continue having faith until evidence points to a reason not too.

I get mods are important to some people in the ac community. But im not them, and would be overjoyed if their open world//online racing road map materializes. Besides, mods would only be cool if they we’re able to be used in vr. Otherwise, not really interested.

As you may have guessed forza horizon isn’t on my radar as there won’t be vr support. I’ m not trying to be snooty. There is just no going back on some things, this is one.

Ps: a game in the early days of discounted/paid beta has 25% of the population of a 4 year old game…whats was your point there?

Two things can be true at the same time: AC EVO can have a very promising core that can potentially bloom into an amazing game, and it can also currently be a glorified tech demo that won't be affecting PD's content update decisions any time soon (if they can even make decisions at that speed given current AAA development times).

What makes AC Evo like GT7? I don’t have a PC so not really followed it. I’d like to see some more details if anyone has an article to read. Saw SuperGTs latest vid and it didn’t seem much like GT7 at all.

To me, what personifies GT7
  • Ultra detailed assets (cars/environment)
  • License Tests that unlock events
  • Cars are achieved through achievement (either as prizes, or by earning credits to purchase cars) not unlocked on some carousel
  • A good mix of road cars and race cars
  • The ability to tune your car (settings) and buy upgrades to its performance
  • Great photography

Honestly, look here:

I don't have a PC either, but what's been written and posted about the game is amazing.

  • It's got an open world featuring the Nurburgring back roads. Including passing traffic.
  • There are licences to gain access to features
  • There are a good mix of road and race cars.
  • ACE allow players to not only choose a car, they can choose different trims. Also, players drive to different shops to buy parts for customisation.
  • Photos look great from what members are posting.

Thank you - that was the only thing I had read so far about it and I certainly didn’t get the impression it was out GT7ing GT7. The open world stuff seems more similar to Forza to me, but then I don’t play Forza.

Hopefully we see more details soon.

Certainly, about the comparisons of Forza. Thing is, Gran Turismo's "The Real Driving Simulator" fits ACE.
I forgot to add, players will have to refuel their tanks. An option Forza(Horizon) doesn't have.

Sooooooo, the Michelin thing. If the Michelin partnership is done, we've got the stickers on the slicks in the shop and raised on the sidewalls of all cars. What happens next?

Well, it was stated in the World Finals that we WILL have a january update.
As we know, updates always drop on Thursday, which leaves us with january 30th.
For the content, as we know right now:
  • Ioniq 5N
  • F-3500A

Given the fact that we'll have two months between updates, I think that we'll have at least two more cars, maybe three.
  • I'll go for a japanese car from UCD, why not the Mitsubishi FTO which is a classic in the series
  • Something more unusual and kinda crazy like the HiAce, but I don't know what
  • A classic from the 50s to 70s span, BMW 2002Ti or BMW 507 maybe?

I also think that Sport mode will be tweaked a bit (maybe the penalty system for example) because of the latest DR drop from top players, and because PD told us that the regions would be reorganised for GTWS.

I don't expect any new track in january (but who knows).

I think we'll have the usual new scapes locations.

And I predict a big FFB tweak to correct the wobbling at high speed with high downforce cars.

My guess, back to Pirelli. Darn good thing we only have buy tires once for each vehicle...(Look away PD. You never saw this..!)

Here's a table with all of the important dates on it. Feel free to refer to this in future months whenever someone asks "where's the update/silhouettes?". Rows in orange are updates that were not released on the last Thursday of the month. All dates GMT.

Only say: The last weekly challenge before hte new update. The last "big" update (SPEC II) includes Lake Louise track, and this week, the special event includes Lake Louise. New track or new SPEC incoming (?) I hope.

It's not GTA to make theories like that.

What happened to the Michelin partnership?
Just from this post in response to someone asking if Michelin partnership ceased.
I think I might know why they asked. The lack of the Michelin logo here:

Also no BBS logo, though I'm not sure when that might've disappeared. I recall BBS being in some financial difficulties at a similar time as Fanatec, but not sure if that was resolved.
