I've had this criticism since GT5, but as excited as I may be after the trailer, Gran Turismo doesn't feel like a video game anymore and I've never liked that. I love GT2, 3 and 4 (2 the most) because they're games first and automotive encyclopedias/product endorsements/portals to things non game-related second.

I don't care about GT Academy. It's a fantastic initiative and I'll never claim otherwise, but too often it gets in the way of the game coming first. I don't care about the FIA partnership; I don't care about TAG Heuer, etc, etc. Make the game fun — that's what I care about. No, I don't care about moon missions either. That was the most prominent exercise in futility that I've ever seen, even moreso considering how bad GT6 was.

I'm going with the mindset that PD likely have a roadmap for the next 2-3 years on the DLC content to keep things fresh. The starting 420 cars and 90 track variants is a solid base to start and hopefully the single player content will be engaging.

Likely be a another trailer around February that will give us a better idea what to expect. (Depending on DelaysTM)

You sound like you offended what I said and take it to heart. I only said this if you dislike the game already and made up your mind from the trailer alone with the information that given after the show case. I recommend wait for the review is out and you don’t have to rush to buy the game. It your choice after all and nobody forcing you. It your money but one thing I dislikes people waste the energy hating something and still combs back if the game not meant for them. You basically wasting your own life away when you could do something productive and find something better that make you happy.
Seriously, you think I'm the one offended?

They just released a new trailer and information about the game barely two hours ago. I, just like everyone else, have come to the Gran Turismo forum to share my views and opinions of said information as it comes out. That's kinda what a discussion forum is for, you know. I'm not wasting my time any more than anyone else doing the same thing, you just don't seem to like that I'm not seeing much of what was shown favourably. I haven't made my mind up about GT7 as a whole, because that would be stupid at this stage. Again, I've merely given my views on what they have said and shown today, like everyone else.

If you find me here six months after the game releases posting the same critiques for seemingly no reason then you may have a point about me "wasting my time". Otherwise, see above.

So no, I'm not offended. I'm peeved (but not surprised) that as always around here people come along and attack you personally for the views that you post rather than coming to have a discussion and offer counter thoughts and opinions to what you have said. Which, I note, you have done yet again. If you think I'm being negative, tell me why you think I'm wrong to do so. Tell me why I shouldn't be "complaining" or "hating", converse about the subject of the post. Nobody ever seems to be able to do that, I assume because deep down they share the same disappointments, or at least acknowledge they are fair disappointments/criticisms.

Very cool to see the night/day transition in the opening scene of the trailer, and seeing actual rendered clouds in the racing scenes and screenshots. Gone are the skyboxes of GT Sport, and I'm so happy!

Hoping to get info on VR support, grid sizes (online and offline) and further details. We must be in for some more info "soon", with the release only 6 months out.

Personally, I hope that the track wetness meter is a on/off features, kinda feel like track grip should rather be sensed by the driver, but that's just nitpicking.

My greatest fear when the crossgen release was confirmed was that we would not see the dynamic weather and time of day, and honestly I'm very curious to see how the PS4 will handles this. If lobbies are crossgen also, the PS4 will still most definately be a limiting factor when it comes to grid size.

But to sum up, consider me hyped up! :D

You didn't get my message.

1) They're not forced to release everything they have in GTS as soon as they have it.

2) I'm not talking about scanning during the pandemic.
Your point in your first message was: they didn't add new tracks to GT7 because there was a pandemic going on and they couldn't travel.
I'm saying scanning tracks, realizing them at headquartes, testing them...requires much more time than adding cars (1 car = 6 months of work)

Why no new tracks then? Because they're PD and they're disappointing at times, that's why. Not because of the pandemic, as you say.
1) I never said that, again, please stop putting words in my mouth. this is also an assumption, we don't know if they actually released all the tracks they were working on during 2017-2019

2) There are definite slowdowns in their work if they were able to add 12 new locations in 2 years to GT Sport. if you don't want the pandemic excuses then I don't know what else to tell you

I’m excited. The variable time/weather simulation looks very promising. The car customization is a big step up from any other game in the series, and the livery editor is improved as well.

Looks like real life if you ask me.
I've photographed Le Mans 24hrs as media 5 times, and they've got the circuit spot-on from what I've seen, even with the crease in the trackes surface where the two surfaces of different ages meet, also from the last scene of the trailer = every puddle is exactly where they'd typically form... although it's a bit weird how they over-exposed the heck out of the Rolex archway.

I’ll let you live with your beliefs.

But the trees...

No new GT trailer is complete without a trees post :sly:;):dopey:

Seems like as I kinda expected last Year, High Speed Ring at best remains as it was since the PS3 Generation with only scenic changes (Though I'm not the biggest fan of the aesthetic change to that one corner, looks cramped visually)

High Speed Ring stuck out like a sore thumb in terms of textures. If you just showed me that... I would be pretty bummed. Trial Mountain is actually pretty nicely detailed along with the rest of the tracks shown.

On a different note can we finally put to bed the lingering, unsubstantiated suggestions that PD now design and update their fictional tracks to fit real life FIA safety regulations.

Conclusive evidence that no, they do not.
Right eight, don't cut.

Also Stephane Fillastre of the FIA already told us (in person; we asked) that they don't.

Oh my days, might be the most disappointing PD disappointment ever. I mean it basically looks exactly like GTSport with a simple SMB3 inspired single player world map, and some other fluff, and no doubt the zombie-nation AI road-blocks will return to populate that chase that rabbit SP 'racing experience' once again.

At the very least GT always pushed the technical boundaries of each console generation... until now. I am un-excite.

There was definitely an FTO in there too, on the Nurb with the other JDM cars.
Did someone noticed trails behind cars on this shot ? Is it rain trails .. ? It looks like a bit exagerated to me if it's rain no ?
(captured at 2.02min on the trailer)

Took another look at the video. The way the lines fade at a certain distance from the car makes me thing it might be visualizing the aero tow behind the cars. It could be tire tracks, the track does look wet, but they're so precise I'm not sure. To me it looks like a draft visualization. Why that exists I'm not sure, unless this top-down view is some sort of game mode. It looks like a manager style game mode to me. B-Spec?

This is pretty intriguing to say the least:

GT7 Wingless.png

You can choose wingless lol. I'm curious if this would effective performance and what types of cars it can be applied to. It suggests that style also plays a role in the tuning and not all tuning is geared toward function. Combine that with the widebody kids, wide offset wheels, livery editors, drift mode...interesting combination.

Edit: Another thing I'm noticing is that the interior view steering wheel and driver's hands move much quicker and more accurately than GTS. In GTS I can't bear to use the interior view because the wheel's motions are completely separate from your actual inputs and it's really distracting. I personally would prefer to have the option to turn off the steering wheel model. But it looks like GT7 has actually made its movements more realistic.

As somebody who played a lot of GT5/GT6 (and 1-4 for that matter) and completely skipped GT Sport, GT7 has me pretty excited. I personally no longer care if Gran Turismo is the best looking racing game out there (it never will be with more titles coming to PC and PCs leapfrogging consoles in terms of IQ). I'm more concerned about the nuts and bolts progressing. AI, FFB, physics, more cars on track, being able to create a custom race with all variables to increase replayability, more control over online lobbies, better penalties (from what I've seen that's a big problem), etc.

Only one question: I wonder if you know...
