Level of Detail.What's an LoD?
Level of detail. Basically, how much amount of detail is rendered. It varies on certain objects at a certain distance. What's an LoD?
I get that! It’s all our concerns (probably), but I’m an optimist and am looking at it this way - the game has already been delayed and the new release date (I say new but it’s the first official release date we’ve had) is still 6 months away so I’m assuming the game is in a state right now that they have identified issues that can be resolved in that time and some (hopefully) minor tweaks to get the game finished so are confident that they can hit the release date!Still my major fear is the release date being postponed
This is an interesting thing that might be worth mentioning. It looks like the same 930 Turbo in both scenes here based on color/modified exhaust. One is on an alignment rack in GT Auto, and the other is in Brighton Antiques. Could you auction off your own cars? Or could this be bought from the auction and then modified..
From the footage we've seen so far, I don't think we'll be getting RMs, but I do see plenty of options that may end up seeming like RM kits, like an option to install a widebody kit on the Honda NSX Type R. Indeed, it seems more like an expanded version of GT6, where we had various aero part options for many cars, including widebodies and various rear wings.Since GT Auto is coming back might Racing modifications be a thing?

Old-school Gran Turismo players will remember the wildly popular “Racing Modification” tuning option found in GT1and GT2 — and to a smaller extent in GT5— and many were hoping to see it return for GT7. Although it will go by a different name in the latest title, Yamauchi acknowledged that car tuning and modification is a clear nod to the series’ past.
“We’ll have aerodynamic parts available and of course you’ll be able to apply wide-body kits to cars, so you’ll be able to get that same sort of race modifications that we had in the original GT1. You can add roll cages as well now,” Yamauchi revealed.
According to Kaz, the only reason is, to avoid manipulation of the save file... if game support ends in 15 years from now, i guess they could care less about it. Only wonder if its technically possible to implement a save feature later on. I hope it is.Since save data is online only, does this mean that the game as a whole will be stripped back to just an arcade mode and a few cars straight out of a more dubbed down Prologue title once Online Service officially ends? If so, I'm going to feel very sorry for the guys that are going to try and make a Master Mod for this title over a decade from now to get it to work as it should again. After all, we all know what happened to other titles that demanded an internet connection.
Will it be the end of 'hexagonal' shapes in contours once and for all?Yes

Because the car is already modified in the Antiques? So it either comes modified from Antiques, it's a personal car stored at Antiques, or sold to Antiques. I guess I was thinking of the Antiques as an Auction house but it's not lol.Of course you’re able to modify a car that you buy. Why wouldn’t you? And what makes you think there are auctions?
What makes you say it’s already modified? Even if it is, why should that stop you from modifying it further, or put it back to stock for that matter?Because the car is already modified in the Antiques? Yep, it's purely to prevent cheating + you can't have the custom liveries offline.According to Kaz, the only reason is, to avoid manipulation of the save file... if game support ends in 15 years from now, i guess they could care less about it. The extra large shape and different look of the components as opposed to the rest of the underside. I'm not concerned about modifying them further, or returning to stock. I'm just wondering why it's modified and in the Antiques garageWhat makes you say it’s already modified? It’s not modified though. Again, I don’t know what makes you say it is.The extra large shape and different look of the components as opposed to the rest of the underside. What I'd want as well, it's like the opposite of what happened between GT5 and GT6, where RM cars from GT5 are made as separate cars in GT6, probably due to too little amount of RM cars. There should be an option to turn the car's performance accurate to Gr. 4, Gr. 3, or Gr. B version though, probably implement Quick Tune but in different way; to quickly buy parts at once that make the car on those respective levels. From the footage we've seen so far, I don't think we'll be getting RMs, but I do see plenty of options that may end up seeming like RM kits, like an option to install a widebody kit on the Honda NSX Type R. Personally, if I brought back the RM mechanic, it'd be a way to turn various road cars into their Gr.4/Gr.3/Gr.B versions.
I'd say it's modified because it is modeled at a much higher resolution than anything else around it under the rear of the car. It’s not modified though. Again, I don’t know what makes you say it is.
Here it is in GT Sport. The exhaust looks exactly the same:

Oh, and why is it in the antiques? Maybe because it’s a legendary sports car?
Yeah, I'd basically turn the RM mechanic into something that resembles using evolutionary stones to evolve Pokemon. What I'd want as well, it's like the opposite of what happened between GT5 and GT6, where RM cars from GT5 are made as separate cars in GT6, probably due to too little amount of RM cars. You can add racing and extreme tuning parts, in GT Auto you can add a widebody kit, this, combined with the livery editor is basically a Racing Modification. After seeing the latest trailer I really started wondering with the added value is of those Gr.3, Gr.4 and Gr.B duplicates if we can make them ourselves? There are 50+ of them in GT Sport...From the footage we've seen so far, I don't think we'll be getting RMs, but I do see plenty of options that may end up seeming like RM kits, like an option to install a widebody kit on the Honda NSX Type R. What? You’re just making stuff up. You just implied that it had an “extra large” shape, but now it’s more detailed? So, a modified exhaust (that looks completely stock) is more detailed than a stock one? Why? Do you have any proof? What are you even talking about?I'd say it's modified because it is modeled at a much higher resolution than anything else around it under the rear of the car.
I think the cars in UCD will be also in the "normal" dealership, but the ones in the UCD will be cheaper and will require some modifications/maintenance.One thing I'm interested in, is since we have both the Used Car Dealership and Brighton Antiques, is how the actual dealerships will look as far as car selections will go. I assume that the cars in the UCD and BA won't be also available in the dealerships, so I suppose it'll be a bit bothersome if I want something like a Dodge Super Bee in a particular color, as I think it'd have to wait for the UCD to keep refreshing until there's one in the color I want. I don't think it make sense for you to be able to pick the color of a used car, as nice as it might be. That said, with all the new customization options that will likely be in this game, I think that I'll follow my initial plan of buying at least two of each road car - one to leave as stock, and another to customize, including its livery.
As for the content of the actual dealerships, I think it could be very interesting indeed. I can only hope that the more modern racecars will be available there, perhaps with older racers like the McLaren F1 GTR being in Brighton Antiques. And hopefully the fact that the cars will be split between the dealerships, BA, and the UCD won't affect how you'll pick your Gr.4 and Gr.3 car for the Manufacturers Series.
I know we can only speculate at the moment, but it does seem like the UCD and BA will have quite a range of cars, with the former having the late-00s Abarth 500 and the latter having the late-90s GT500-spec Supra. I can only assume that every car plucked from Pebble Beach will be found at Brighton Antiques, for one thing, potentially with any racecar from before 2000 being available there, including the Porsche 917. This is all before we factor in the likely return of actual prize cars for the various campaign events - hopefully we'll even be able to pick the color of them like in GT6.
I'm also hoping that the GT Cafe feature could get expanded as more cars get added as DLC. I, for one, was hoping that an incarnation of the NB and NC Miata could be added, so we can have all four of them.
Yeah, I'd basically turn the RM mechanic into something that resembles using evolutionary stones to evolve Pokemon.
