For the last 2 years of the times we spent in lockdowns and distancing bull**** I have seen myself and my children pass the majority of time playing games. That saddens me. Don't get me wrong I've always had consoles and computers my whole life but I've always had a good balance between my work, holidays/days out, social life, gaming time and fitness/sport time. I feel the last thing I want to do is play more games I have slight interest in.

As limited the choices we had with Covid, and as good as some of those games were, that's time I'll never get back. Yeah, just the ones in my wheelhouse for me from now on.

This sounds like something someone would respond with if they had a bad day or just feel the need to be super defensive. Loosen up.

His observation was more than fair and had good intentions behind it. I don't think it deserved the slightly aggressive response it received.
And your response is somewhat defensive and ever so slightly condescending, no? I think all 3 of you are kinda right and kinda wrong. But I agree that his post didn't warrant a mob response form the internets. Everyone is soquick to get defensive these days

A market that has declined since its highpoint and is nothing like COD with 400+ million sales and Fifa with over 325+ million sales.

They are not even comparable.
Not to forget Fifa doesn't even generate most of its revenue through its actual sales, unlike Gran Turismo.

They do, several are active in this forum.
Yup.

Bought PS2 for GT3, followed by GT4.
Bought PS3 for GT5, followed by GT6.
Skipped GTS & PS4.
Will buy PS5 for GT7. Already bought TV for it. Going to buy Fanatec entry-level DD system for it.

The only game I might add, and it'll be a first for me, is ACC for PS5.

Never felt short-changed with this GT-only approach 'cause I've loved driving and getting the most out of each iteration. When you consider all the car and track combinations you might want to race and time trial, that's a whole lotta time right there, not to mention racing online.

EDIT:
Still driving GT6 and haven't exhausted the above-mentioned options... except for online of course.

This IMHO illustrates the point beautifully. If I can get 9 years out of a single title (due to skipping GTS), the normal wait time would obviously see my moving to the next iteration knowing that there was still plenty I'd have liked to do. This has happened each time.

Yeah, I loved the PC version except for the fact that I had to run it on a borrowed, underpowered 2008 PC, so resolution and especially LOD settings had to be really-low and even then I experienced a lot of frame skipping.

Also, all my setup presets were destroyed by the recent updates.

I'll monitor the board for feedback on how the PS5 version fares and then make a decision.

What so ironic about it? And that post has nothing to do with Gran Turismo. Sony killed all of my favorite playstation IPs in favor of these.. Where's the diversity? I have my own reason to get mad. People don't see any problem with their AAA studios focusing too much on "cinematic experience''? And yes I'm exaggerating because I'm still salty that all of my favorite Sony titles are pretty much dead and there's no sign of them rebooting them. I'm not saying their recent games are bad not at all. I just don't find them interesting and got bored of them easily. They all have the same look and feel.

Now compared to these games. Their recent games above are way too gloomy dark and pretentious. Sure most of these IPs probably wouldn't be a huge seller, but what's wrong about asking for more diversity in exclusive games? What happened to their military and action stealth shooters, fast pace arcade games like wipe out and motorstorm, fun immersive fps like killzone and resistance? All of them have been replaced by gloomy pretentious third person games. No doubt they having a huge success with those those interactive games but once microsoft start pumping out their own exclusive games like Elder scrolls, Fallout, Wolfenstein, Doom, Startfield. What Sony's answer to those game gonna be? Another cinematic game for the 20th time?
And if you put Gran Turismo in the template above, it would look out of place.
Yes, a game where you fight Robo dinosaurs with a bow and arrow is basically the same as a dreadful post apocalypse where they explore cycles of violence and human nature; just because they both happen to have the same camera perspective.
That's like if someone said all racing games are the same because they all have cars in them, whats the point. Ugh 🤮

Anyway, that's pretty off topic. Super excited for tomorrow's state of play! Hopefully they reveal some new features that we haven't seen yet.

The PS5 version of ACC, which is what we were talking about, is coming out this month, so see how you go with that?

EDIT:
IIRC you'll have to wait 'til 2024 for a new version of AC on console.

I think GT7 has the potential to outsell GT3 over the course of it's lifespan. I know that's a big claim but there are several important factors to consider:
-PS5 sales are extremely strong with a very high demand
-PS4 owners can purchase the game, automatically increasing the amount of potential sales
-We haven't had a proper GT game in almost 9 years
-Best sounds and graphics in GT history
-No reliance on Sport Mode
-New customisation options and return of GT Auto

Forza Horizon 5 has proved that people still want racing games, which should give Sony a lot of confidence. A lot of effort has been made to target the diehards, the casuals and the newbies who may not have a lot of experience with racing games. It will do very well.

I agree mate.

I've been predicting this to my buddies for at least a year now, saying I reckon it'll be the best GT yet. Quite a "claim", to be sure, but I'm quietly (maybe not so much!) confident...

I think it could be the best GT ever, if they get it right in mixing all the good parts of previous versions and fix some of the most annoying issues like bad AI.
I am confident it will be at least a good GT title, which I will thoroughly enjoy for quite a nice period.
So I am pretty excited about the upcoming release.

Forza horizon 5 is very different from GT. It’s very welcoming and user friendly. You find anyone or almost anyone will enjoy playing it mostly for to its open world nature and more arcade style.

GT is only racing around tracks. Much more of a niche market.

Do it!!!!:) It's okay on PS4 but with the extra power it should be great on PS5... and probably up there with the PC version.
Unless they add in a load of options the PC has around FoV, VR support, etc. it's still going to be behind it.

Some are logical they can't add, PSVR woudl never cope with it), but I do hope that they patch in FoV and some of the other quality of life options the PC version has.

Yeah, I'm cool with that. I hope Kaz will still be posting those silhouette pictures of the cars that is coming to the game.
The silhouette pictures was definitely the most underrated element of GT Sport (even though it wasn’t a specific GT Sport feature but more of an exterior link) and I also hope it returns cause the speculations, guessing and general opinions on what car silhouette is what was actually both intriguing and fun.

My personal favorite was when the Mercedes AMG W08 was teased. The amount of guessing and then the subsequent detective work (even revealing it to be the car as it ran in the 2017 Malaysian Grand Prix) was just amazing. Kinda makes the car abit special to me because there hasn't been a Malaysian Grand Prix since and the inaugural race was THE race that both introduced me to and got me into F1.

Ay yes the silhouette pictures, I am hoping we receive a similar treatment with GT7 with those silhouette pictures. It's pretty nice and fun to solve them as whole with the community.

Hopefully something similar is brought back with GT7 with cars being added in the feauture.
Or like with the find your line trailers, the lines when revealing a new track.
