What worries me the most about GT7 is the lack of suitable tracks for slower cars. I have no problem whatsoever to start my campaign with a Toyota Aqua and tune it for my liking. But please PD, spare me from ever let me race on useless tracks like the Northern Isle Speedway again :banghead:

I know that PD will add more tracks later on, but unfortunately it feels like PD doesn't care about smaller tracks such as Autumn Ring, or tight city courses like Citta di Aria anymore. Btw, did you know that Citta di Aria is a real life location:scared:

The reason why I personally rank GT4 as the best Gran turismo ever made is not because of the car list, the One-make Events, the graphics or the soundtrack. The main reason why I think GT4 is such a excellent game is due to the variety of tracks. Even though the game had over 700 you could always find a large number of suitable tracks for each individual car and that was not the case in GT Sport and it looks like GT7 will have the same problem.

So I'm assuming that you'll need to do licence tests to participate in each event? Just like the old games? I say this because it isn't explicitly stated in the video. Unless I've missed something.

How long before we start getting this again....:banghead:

I hope you like that intro because I made it lol

I assumed tracks were only unlocked for the purpose of arcade races. I seem to remember having to unlock tracks by playing GT League in order to play split screen on said track with a buddy. Or am I thinking of another game?

GT Sport tracks opened up as you hit certain levels from getting xp from either gt league, mission challenges etc. At least thats how it was when I started playing which was pretty late, early 2020 iirc.

There isn't a separated arcade mode in GT7 though. You access everything - arcade races, TT, split screen, career events through the world circuits menu and what we saw clearly showed some tracks were not unlocked and couldn't be therefore selected for anything.

So whatever the circuits not unlocked above, 4 in America's for example, you can't use them for anything. It clearly lists your "available circuits" which you have to open for all activities there:

I see that GT7 had greatly changed the tire grip from the other guy's drift comparison, then I wonder how the FF cars move in GT7.
If they can properly turn, the Integra '95 would be just... dangerous like the real one?

If this turns out to be the case, I will let expletives fly.

On another note, I am thinking that it's possible that navigating the career will be made simple through receiving invitations. So you begin by getting an invitation to Sunday Cup and are able to access that from somewhere. When you finish Sunday Cup, maybe you receive invitations to a couple more series.

This is frustrating. I distinctly remember small track version on almost every original track. And those other tracks that are easy to add the smaller portions are neglected.

Someone on GT Planet mentioned it before, but they would rather have courses over cars. I think they're both important, but 1 track would net 420+ experiences, while 1 vehicle only adds "97" experiences.

But now you'e got me thinking how fantastic GT4 was organized. A thoughtful career mode with clear guidance, in addition to one make and manufacture races. Now it's just a jumbled array of tracks with races within them.

Naturally there may be menus we've not seen but I dont think so. Piecing together all the information sources the gameplay loop seems to be:

  • open GT Cafe and see the current car collection
  • once set as your current goal the little yellow icon marks locations and events in World Circuit where you can win the cars required
  • you navigate to those events via world circuit, following the markers and beat the targets
  • win all the cars to unlock a new circuit, maybe new mode, and the next collection goal
  • back to the start

The only thing that isn't clear is how many circuits are unlocked to start with and how many car collections there are.

But it's pretty clear that they've centered the gameplay around completing car collections in GT Cafe and unlocking the parts of the game as rewards for completion.

The article even said that you have to unlock tuning levels, so you won't be able to put racing parts on a car until you unlock racing parts at whatever car collection level.

Which really highlights once more that whilst collecting cars is a core part of the game in terms of gameplay racing is the primary gameplay. Without entering races and getting the cars most of the game is going to be locked away.

Also remember, there isn't an option on the top world menu that says 'GT Mode' or 'Career Mode' or anything similar. The central icon is GT Cafe and all your navigation for racing is through World Circuits.

Which confirms what Kaz was saying about the past games having a handful of cars to complete the game. While the other 400 are never used. Looks like we’ll be somewhat forced to use more cars through the game.

Not sure if the Sport Mode players will be happy about that, but we haven’t seen how they would jump straight into a Lobby from day 1. Guess everyone will have to do licence tests to qualify for access to everything.

I really hope this isn't true because otherwise that's just a really messed up thing for PD to do. I should be able to go into BC and buy a car whenever I want if I have the credits to do so.
Afraid so, although they're talking first few hours, so not that long.

So race, collect, unlock, tune… whatever you do, you’re probably helping build out some other element of the game. The Café Menu will also guide you to new areas and modes, so fulfilling those is a great way to ensure you’re taking advantage of all the sights & sounds of GT7. All this content is experienced within the first hours of the game (depending on winning races, fulfilling Menu Books and so forth), at which point you’re off to a special championship event at the High Speed Ring. This will open the Brand Central, where you can purchase brand-new vehicles from over 50 car manufacturers and tuners.

Creating smurf, er, alt accounts may prove to be a headache for some.

@Samus what is the checkered flag icon on the world map? I thought that was how one gets to the career races.

I’m still going to use my alt accounts to play the game multiple ways. The headache will be those that don’t want to even go near the AI.

According to the GTP article these are all the icons on the world map

Driving Missions
License Tests
Used Car Dealership
Brand Central
Sports
Scapes
World Circuits
Gran Turismo Café
Garage
Legendary Car Dealership
Showcase
Tuning Shop
Custom
Multiplayer

I suppose a few of those could be the flag.

I would like the point out a weird bug/error that I have noticed in GT SPORT quite a while now.

B631703D-AE08-4C21-8F05-83387B3B6181.jpeg

This here is an MP4-12c
CA7D3FE5-D967-414B-8A8A-4451CBE20EE1.jpeg

And this is an 650S

Notice how the 650S has way less rain droplets and details in the windshield compared to the MP4, even though they are in the same speed.

Not only the 650S but also other vehicles seem to have this same weird mistake.

I just hope this has been adressed and fixed in GT7.

Well I don't know about them all but certainly some tracks are unlocked by completing the menu book collection of 3 cars. This was confirmed in a screenshot showing the Porsche GT3 menu book

The world map (the resort thing not the one representing the real world) has a sport mode option too. So it is likely that you might be able to enter sport mode races without having unlocked tracks for the other modes. I think this is how some of the GTS tracks work as well.
