The world map (the resort thing not the one representing the real world) has a sport mode option too. So it is likely that you might be able to enter sport mode races without having unlocked tracks for the other modes. I think this is how some of the GTS tracks work as well.
That's likely but my plan was to fire up Daytona at night as soon as I booted up the game.

You might be able to do that either through custom races or online. But yeah, it will suck if tracks are put behind some grind/progress wall without any arcade option to drive them from the get go.

I would like the point out a weird bug/error that I have noticed in GT SPORT quite a while now.

This here is an MP4-12c

And this is an 650S

Notice how the 650S has way less rain droplets and details in the windshield compared to the MP4, even though they are in the same speed.

Not only the 650S but also other vehicles seem to have this same weird mistake.

I just hope this has been adressed and fixed in GT7.
I regret to inform you that i don't think it'll be fixed in GT7, that problem is just WAY too annoying.

There are some cars that if you take a look at the side windows, they don't seem to have the same droplets as seen on the windshield, but some cars have it. Just weird.

Gran Turismo has never been super great at water particle effects. If you look really closely in the state of play, there are some really ugly looking splashes when cars drive through puddles.

Kind of sucks but oh well, it’s kind of a miracle we even get to have dynamic weather given the PS4 requirements.

I've seen this clip a few times now. If this movement is just a repeating animation it isn't very impressing. What would impress me is when you crash a car into a tree, the foliage would move in a natural way or when you drive very close to a bush it would move from the air displacement... Red dead redemption 2 had this in 2018...

Grass moves from that displacement and has done so since GT5 IIRC.

Trees OTOH, haven't and I doubt they will as a result of impact in GT7, at least not yet.

Maybe if it becomes PS5-only later on?

That may be intentional. I don't want to have droplets in my vision at all. The less, the better.

If I want to have obstructed vision, I ride my IRL motorcycle in rain with poor vision because of dead mosquitos, wasps, smeared out in water that I can't wipe off. I see no added value in that **** - just let me see the road and race.
Or just drive a car in winter without wipers - yeah, cool, immersive, realistic! It sucks.

A lot of things that people complain about I believe are intentional choices. Everything from these droplets to physics, damage and FFB.
Kaz has in some interview about GT7 said that he wants it to feel like racing, not to actually simulate every detail in driving as it then becomes more difficult to drive a simulator than a real car - he wants it to be equally hard. I agree.

The first previews are out 🆗

After seeing all of the features they added in the game, I am now doubting that the PS4 could handle all of that without sacrificing performance. Unless PD could pull off some miracles.

I really hope this isn't true because otherwise that's just a really messed up thing for PD to do. I should be able to go into BC and buy a car whenever I want if I have the credits to do so.
It’s likely true as it’s coming from the Playstation Blog. There’s always the chance that the author of the article didn’t paint the full picture of some things, but it’s probably best to assume this isn’t the case. Apparently the game insists on holding hands with the player for several hours, gradually unlocking modes and features, which to me sounds dreadful. It’s quite ironic with the car culture resort theme of the game. Resorts are meant for relaxation, but the almost linear nature of the first hours of the journey honestly sounds stressful to me.

The whole charm of starting a fresh GT journey is to just do your own thing immediately after the first car has been purchased. Amazing how PD seemingly doesn’t appreciate this for a game meant to celebrate the best things about the franchise up until now. Linearity wasn’t one of those things. I’m sure the game will fully unlock eventually, but it has to be in a timely fashion and not after hours.

I think there will be no miracles and it will work fine on PS4. I think some people are overhyping the PS5 version because they really want something truly next-gen, but this isn't quite it yet.

Personally, the only clear PS5 difference that will affect me, is the loading times, which will be inevitable on PS4 due to different storage technologies. That is something I can live with, though.

As for the other differences, I don't have a sound system that can take advantage of the hundreds of channels the PS5 version can provide. I also don't like playing with headphones, so the default 16 channels will be what I would be making use of anyway. The haptic feedback would also be null and void because I don't like to play with force-feedback on my controller, I always turn it off.

On the graphics front, I'm looking only for 1080p, as that's the maximum my screen can go. Ray-tracing is cool but, as GTPlanet's own article pointed out, the difference between it and the rasterized version are subtle, even indistinguishable in certain cases, so I would say it's not worth the FPS hit. Besides, gameplay, regardless of platform, won't be ray-traced.

This is a replay video of Willow Springs, on GT Sport, on PS4 Pro, at 60fps. And this is a replay video of GT7, on PS5, also at Willow, using framerate mode, 60fps with no ray-tracing. Both look incredible and differences are minor, honestly.

The presentation is nigh on perfect. The music, the menus, stuff like the Cafe and Brand central being a mall. Absolute dream come true.
Yeah, and...? For Brand Central the mall isn't featured at all when selecting cars?? Only Brighton Antiques had the environment when selecting cars.

Here's something I haven't seen talked about (and maybe it's nothing). On the garage screen, there is an option for "Virtual Garage". This may just be the same pick a background and snap a picture that is in GT Sport, just renamed (and it probably is). But the way these options are grouped, it isn't with the perhaps more functionally similar "Scapes Movies" (assuming that is the little preview videos we have in Sport) or at the end (like you might expect a "settings" type of function to be) but is instead grouped with "Car Collection". Probably nothing.

Would the Virtual Garage and Car Collection part actually finally provide the garage models with the cars (like GT Auto menu... even if there were no actual animations for Car Wash or such)?

I was going to get this at launch but im with alan here, those silly pop ups with characters there, just ruins it, if they can`t be turned off
I don't like them either but are you seriously not going to buy the game because of that little thing?.

With car engine notes not being imroved its not worth it to begin with.

Creating smurf, er, alt accounts may prove to be a headache for some.

@Samus what is the checkered flag icon on the world map? I thought that was how one gets to the career races.

That is correct.
It is, but it leads to World Circuits. There are no campaign menus like this:

They don't exist. The events are, as already said, reached via World Circuits.

By process of elimination that is what the chequered flag icon is.

And we already know what World Circuits menu looks like:

That is it. That's where we find all offline racing content. It's a bold choice. A lot of casual fans might think there is no career mode again.

It certainly is a bold choice. Maybe they're onto something or maybe not but this is either embracing the 'gamey' side of things while shaking off any pretence of a fantasy career, or it's a sort of roleplay into being a billionaire who can treat cars like Hot Wheels and Matchbox.

The café thing in general is sort of weird. Maybe it's just where I'm at in life right now but it comes off as super pretentious. But I can see myself really liking it once I'm learning things from a car designer. But I maybe would have preferred a bar setting (I know) or an industrial setting.
