They are one and the same, that's why. There is no arcade menu like old games. There is no career mode menu like old games.

If you want to drive offline on a track, in any form, you have to go through World Circuits. If you can't select High Speed Ring like this because it's locked, then you can't do any of the activities listed, including the career mode events and all the stuff below.

I prefer this presentation for the career and arcade mode, but i understand why they choose that way in the easy accessibility

Ah, so they're really splicing arcade and career mode together, that's neat. It'll definitely change up how you progress versus the past games. Though I do see a problem with how they set up event completion, you're doing it by track from the looks of it. Which can get tedious quick with progression, you're doing different events sure, but on the same track. I feel like I would get sick of that after a while.

This decision to drastically change the career mode is either going to come off as a brilliant move by PD or be one of the more contentious decisions made for GT7, I'm still on the fence with this, until I can see actual game play, hard to call, menu jumping & blindly going from one event to the next without seeing the big pictures are my concerns.
I'm just confused all this nostalgia talk and there is a jumbled career mode lol

Fairly certain that they mentioned "events and championships" in career mode during the State of Play.

Some of these events seem track specific, however there are also logos for "Asia-Oceania" & "European" Championships, that would likely take place over multiple circuits.

I'd imagine some events will be singular races you access through the track itself, mainly more informal stuff like specific car meets, drivetrain/aspiration/engine challenges, and the Sunday Cup spot races. That would give those races a grass-roots feel as they're not tied to a larger championship. The specific championships might be for more organized forms of racing like Karts, Cup Cars, Gr.4, Gr.3, Super Formula etc.

I dunno if anyone else noticed, but back in that State of Play presentation, when the Mustang Boss 429' brake calipers were being customized, I think I could see a side exhaust sticking out right next to the front wheels. I'm not a Mustang nerd, but I don't think that came as a factory option for that car. Would be awesome to see which of the other muscle cars in the game have side exhausts as a customization option.

I'm sure we will be able to see a full list of events in a different menu, and when we select one it'll zoom to the first track in the series. Like how it was in FM3/4.

Again, I'm not really sure why you've jumped to this conclusion that we have to unlock career mode tracks via Cafe collections. There is no precedent to suggest that is the case. There is precedent to suggest that Cafe collections will unlock arcade mode tracks, because unlocking arcade mode tracks over time has been a staple of Gran Turismo since at least GT2. I see no evidence that your assumption is actually true.
Well it's not an assumption:

Hold the phone, I was just guessing in the track list thread, but Gran Turismo Cafe IS at Twin Ring Motegi. Yes? MaaaaAAAAAANNNNnnnnn

Whilst we can't discount it entirely I don't see anywhere such a thing would be. We already know it's not one of the main menu options so it would have to be a sub menu somewhere else and we've seen all the major ones it could be.

The only possibility I see is the trophies option within cafe but I think that's highly likely to just be a trophy cabinet of sorts, rather than a way to actually access championships and event lists.

I just noticed this about the state-of-play presentation, the Boss 429 Mustang had side-pipes here, that wasn't a stock feature on these. I bet other people discussed this already, but I guess this is now another thing that excites me about the customization. Some cars at least may have side-pipes as a mod, that's kinda cool.

and doh! It too me this long to realize this, I looked over this clip so many times and only now realized that it was a Sileighty and not a 180SX.

The menu book title is "Gran Turismo Cafe". :P
For anybody who needs some context lol. Well I'll be damned, he's right.

That wasn't the only thing they showed about that Mustang. The race or extreme exhaust were zoomies that exited right behind the front tires!

Wow that sucks :( Hope they can add tab with events for a future update. I hope there will be some sense of progression at least. The Beginner --> Amateur --> Pro --> Expert format is better than what GT7 seems to oofer :(

Honestly if there are menu list for events I'd rather if it's sortable by various means, like by difficulty (most GT games), licenses (GT6), car type (ex: Super GT, GT3, etc.), event type (ex: Drivetrain contest, etc.), etc. I'd want for events to not be limited on the difficulty format (Beginner > Amateur > Pro) like creating Beginner-like FR Challenge, but also Amateur-like or Pro-like version of it that makes use of a higher performance variant of that type of car in a single event list.
Don't lose all hope! On the first page of the "World Circuits" page, at the bottom is a list of Championships (or a list of races in the current Championship, it's not completely clear). Based on the names of the championships/events, it seems that there may be a combination of single races (High Speed Ring Track Day) and multi-race series (Asia-Oceania Championship).

It writes Trial Mountain Cup and European Championship, no way those are list of races in current Championship.
For those few championships, probably. But there doesn't seem to be many of those. I was referring to all the regular events that come up as available when you hover a track.
I don't know why the Championships are thought as not many. It seems to just not list every races available from the start. 2 different screenshots with different Championship races:

And on the track selection screen, we can see an event "Japanese Clubman Cup 550" which has races at Autopolis, Fuji, and Tokyo Expressway. The same is true of the "Japanese FF Challenge 450" which can be seen at Suzuka, Tsukuba, and High Speed Ring and "Japanese FR Challenge 550" at Tsukuba, Tokyo Expressway, and High Speed Ring.

I think there is still a lot that we don't know about how the campaign mode works, but it seems like it will offer some decent variety.
You mean that the "450" or "550" can indicate the different performance level version of the events like what's seen in GT2 and GT3? (though there gotta still be PP limits then, if everything doesn't have PP limit then why put it there....)

Do you think that the career is really drastically changed? It's just now that the event selection is the opposite of the previous GTs. In previous GT you select the event title card, then choose the track the events provided to race on. Now you select the track first, then choose the events the track provided to race on.

Yeah and previously the GT with map menu (or GT5) didn't have the map menu as the main menu, map was a part of GT Mode only and it was a choice from the actual main menu which was far more simplistic (GT1's Quick Arcade, Gran Turismo, Replay Theater, Options). It seems that they just add Arcade mode there instead of creating the pseudo-Arcade modes separately in GT Mode so you can freely race while in GT Mode without leaving the mode like GT4's Race Meeting, Photo Drive, and Family Cup (with Free run as another option).

For the exhaust part, those may be a part of either Racing Items or Others menu.

That daily workout is a worry, its a junk feature for a broken game economy. If there's meant to be a sense of progression in offline I don't want to be gifted cars for nothing.
Well it looks as though you'll receive "tickets" like GT5 each time you complete a daily workout.

I wouldn't complain that much though, doing transparent objects in videogames are indeed quite difficult to achieve.

Yes I can imagine, and this is just a detail that is not visible in game, but I've never noticed this problem in other racing games. I often use the photo mode and often this nasty detail disturbs the photo

What i think about the arcade mode being unlocked by the career mode...

I think you can play arcade each track from the beginning.
So the arcade buttom will be bright and the buttons in the red will be will be "greyed" out

You can discard duplicates ....
Wouldn't you rather your time not be wasted doing that?

There's no upside to spending half a minute watching a roulette for a car you don't need, and another half a minute to diacard it.

It's just adding mundane tasks that don't progress the game and take time away from you playing the game.

Well it looks as though you'll receive "tickets" like GT5 each time you complete a daily workout.
Will be tolerable depending on their implementation I guess. So long as it's a background alert and not something like roulette that at can't skip.
