So, Maybe what I'm asking has been answered already but I missed it..

So, engine swops are definitely happening?
It seems so, but so far there’s only one car as evidence. We’ll have to wait and see what’s behind the ‘extreme’ tab

Or they could just implement proper difficulty levels from day 1. I'm sorry but the idea they want the day one game to appeal to new people and then crank it up through updates is absurd. There is zero reason the game can't launch with a full range of difficulty from day 1.

This "dont worry, they can fix it/add it in an update" line of reasoning is getting rather tiresome. I'm beginning to think PD will fix the Ukraine problems in a GT7 update the way some people go on about the updates they know nothing about.
...and, what’s the point of having different difficulty settings if they’re all way too easy for even semi-casual gamers (like me) playing with a controller and never bothering to tune cars at all (I will put on racing mediums for some tough races, but never softs). Hard(est) level should really be too difficult for all but serious racers with serious setups.

I dread to think what people who’ve invested loads in wheels and racing seats etc must feel. Perhaps they all stick to online races, but it’s a pity as it surely can’t be too much of an ask to just make AI opponents faster (not necessarily more ‘intelligent’) at harder levels.

Oooooooooor…..

PD KNOWS that their AI as is, is good enough for 90% of their target player base. And what PD wants to accomplish in terms of AI performance, isn’t ready yet.

Or they’re just managing the pace of DLC release to maximize their profits over the lifetime of the game. Much like Sony no doubt already has the 2 other versions of their PS5 ready to go, but they’ll stagger their releases to maximize profits

I don't know if it was announced at the time, but given how hard it is to still get a PS5, is there a time limit on how long you have to redeem the codes? Does anybody know?

No. That's laughable. As is the idea they're purposely holding stuff back for updates. All games make the majority of their profit in the first couple of months, and pre orders. After even 6 months the game is reduced in price and making less money, so holding stuff back for updates makes no sense financially.

No?

During the Sophy presentation, Kaz said they have plans to implement Sophy into GT7 at some point in the future. When, and in what form remains to be seen. Could very well be a while until further developments.
OK. But what have they been doing since 2017 ?

Now i understand why they are so afraid of early gameplay leaks.

Lets hope at least the physics are a step forward.

Not sure they're "purposely" doing it, but perhaps their banking on the AI Sophy to be integrated and it's just not ready yet?

Wasn't the AI already in Gran Turismo 4 terrible ? Barely any better than what we have today in GT Sport.
I think we only interesting challenges I had in pas Gran Turismo were getting Gold or Platinum in License tests

At first attempt 90% of players older than 5 can dodge the intermediate AI. Years of development to hear that they need more years to implement an AI is them recognising, again, that they are too slow and just not good enough at developing games. They are really not the best in this game anymore...

Look, I know real racing. I've done real races. The vast majority of real racing is doing lap after lap after lap for 20 minutes or more, with maybe 1 car similar to your speed to pass or defend against. That's not what the vast majority of people buying GT want, and I'd gather that if they actually experienced it it's not what the vast majority of this people on this forum want either. The vast majority of people who buy GT want a 3-lap race where they can pass 23 cars. I get it, it's frustrating, it's not what real racing is, but people want a game and that's the easiest way to make racing a game.

Unless they’re going to charge for some dlc stuff? Sneaky but must be tempting for Sony. If they said, after a few months, here’s a bunch of cars and tracks and championships (and an unlocked harder difficulty level?) everyone would bitch about it. But most would pay up.

Financially, yes. I agree with you. That is unless PD takes the GTA update model with this down the road, and markets each very significant update as a new game and charges a bit for it. Rockstar games has pursued this model for a reason. You think PD doesn’t take notice?

As far as the other comment of 90% of 5 year olds being able to beat AI as is. You’d be very surprised.

I also think that PD is dropping the ball on AI in Gran Turismo. I for one happen to think they’re more than capable of making it better. They just gave chosen not to be it frame rates or some kind of financial reason (in way of game marketability or having to totally redo some part of the fundamental game engine to be able to adequately scale better AI)

I play ACC with AI at 95% skill and 95% aggression. It’s not easy at all. And if you scale both if those slidersdown, the AI starts doing Gran Turismo stuff . Fwiw, frame rates tend to drop a bit when you have the AI start performing and interacting well with you, and we all start bunching up.

I guess I might have to eat my words in 2 years time. We’ll see!

No, they have not given any plans or indication for Sophy to entirely replace the current AI.

Says who? Where is your evidence? All other racing games on the market try to offer a race format which resembles reality and they do just fine.

The evidence is they don’t have NEARLY the market share that Gran Turismo has on a large scale
