The thing that so far has made appreciate gt7 more is the fast loading times. Not that I’m not liking what I’m seeing but not having to wait almost a minute to get into a race is gonna be sweet.
PS5 load times you mean :)

The AI doesn't need a revolutionary machine learning algorithm called Sophie.

Racing games can be challenging since the early days of gaming. Every arcade racer has a AI which puts up more of a fight than GTS (and probably GT7 it seems), and yes also beginner arcade racers really enjoy that.

There is really no valid excuse that Gran Turismo can't give us a nice interesting offline AI racing game on the release day. This is the first Gran Turismo since 8 years...!

How that option is different from restore rigidity?

its to restore all modifications on body/engine i think

That is not how any of this **** works at all.
I was posing a possible answer. Do you know the actual answer as to why some cars have hood view and why some are roof? Because I'm struggling to work out why.

I see we also still have the inconsistent hood or roof camera. I don't get it. Why can they not have one or the other on all cars, or preferably both? Is it because of the one person modelling ethos, each person decides where the camera goes on their model?
Agree it makes absolutely no sense! In some cars such as the Ferrari F40 it's like you sit on a tall chair right on top of the car😵‍💫

And I wont stop complaining about the not rotateable chase cam 😂 It bothers me too much

This is what I have been specifically saying in the pre-requisite threads for AI that Sophy is basically a sledgehammer cracking open into a chestnut...and really, is typical Polyphony of trying to apply big brained ideas to something that could be easily fixed if they simply hired someone with some actual knowledge on racing game AI and applied it generally, instead of trying to big brain play it, and potentially not even have it in the game by the time the game hits end of life.

So much hope is riding on Sophy and it's like...why? We don't even know if it's possible to apply Sophy in the way that it was shown off initially, nor whether the PS5 can even handle even a full grid of Sophy's. But Polyphony are working hard on that when they could have taken other ways to get to the same point that would have fixed the problem instead of raise as many questions as it brings up.

Some of you guys keep forgetting that GT is actually kinda big and casual gamers will be playing the game too.

No point insulting them because of their skill at the game, you were in their shoes once upon a time

Especially since GT7 is appealing to a lot more people than Sport was targeting. Unless you’re some kind of prodigy, 99% of us were beginners at some point.

I saw someone say that it's still the same single guy credited for AI in GT7 so it's sadly no surprise nothing much has changed.

The Sophy AI was primarily developed by Sony AI staff, it seems PD themselves have no interest in putting effort into it. One guy working on it for 20 odd years is damning.

Hood, roof and dash cam ideally.

It I’m reading that right then tuning is allowed with no BOP? That’s a bit of a dealbreaker for me and probably won’t compete in those races. The meta car situation is bad enough as it is, compounding that with a meta tune is going to ruin those races. I think they’ll abandon that pretty quickly. I’ve no interest in tuning, I don’t know what any of the settings really do and nor am I inclined to learn or care.

I can safely tell you that the guy making the car models isn't the guy placing the cameras and all the other stuff that needs to be done. Thought it would be common sense but I guess not.

But that's ultimately the between the lines **** we're dealing with. Sophy was more or less designed, and shown off, as having applications towards GT only, instead of being a general demo of machine learning AI that could be applied to other Sony products, specifically video games. And by this point, with how Kaz has basically put the blade over his head on adding it to GT7 via an update (and once again, brings to mind Track Creator and the other broken promises in either not bringing content he said would be coming to the game later and simply letting sleeping dogs lie, or bringing it into the game in a capacity that is nowhere close to what it was said by himself to be) it does a wonderful job of obfuscating the fact that the AI is still the same ****, on a different day, and now people seriously believe Sophy can come back around and be a knight in shining armor one and a half, maybe even two years down the line in the form it was shown in those initial videos, instead of the more likely outcome of being a party trick like so many supposedly 'revolutionary' features GT has pushed in new game launches that more often then not fizzle out and get left to the wayside.

Like, how many times do people have to go through this dance before people start realizing that Kaz isn't exactly to be believed when he tries to push a new feature, and it ultimately turns out to be a big nothing burger? Really, you can make a solid argument that Kaz is the racing genre's Peter Molyneux, except people don't want to believe that they're getting burned, again and again and again.

I'm aware that grid starts do not a hardcore sim make, I was referring more to the general point that several have made about wishing GT offered a more accurate sim-like experience with a stronger focus on racing.
The point being discussed was GTs odd take on rolling starts combined with chase the rabbit AI. So, yes accurate rolling starts and grid starts were what was being requested.
Some of you guys keep forgetting that GT is actually kinda big and casual gamers will be playing the game too.

Which is why an AI that suit all abilities is what people have been asking for, something many other titles manage.

Actually it's quite likely the person modelling the car will be doing so. The exact point each camera sits will vary between cars, and will need to be set, for each camera, for each car.

Anyone who's created a mod car for a game, or edited one, will know this.

Really surprised there's still no official car list out. I know we have identified the vast majority but would be good to see if there are any gems coming that we haven't yet seen.

Choice of all tyres makes me expect this is a dynamic weather race - I'm really hoping that dynamic actually means dynamic though, and that it's not just set to start raining on X lap.

It'll be cool to have one race where its dry the whole way, one where it starts wet, one where it starts raining near the end so people have to decide whether to pit or not, etc.
