Yeah, we beat them to it by more than an hour:

There's another video but from PlayStation France.

So they added user difficulty settings for the career but then all the events still have a fixed difficulty, some which are harder than the hardest user difficulty option? Which can't be user selected for any other events? And the first few events are all easy, even if you select hard?

Someone make it make sense. Does the user difficulty option REALLY affect career races? Why can't I just select maximum spice for every event myself?

The hype is real. It really does seem to be shaping up as the best GT in recent memory, warts and all.

GT5 was extremely disappointing in a myriad of ways after a very long wait with 6 being too little way too late, they nearly killed the franchise for me. Sport was amazing in its technical aspect: physics, sound and online were what I always wanted from GT, but it unfortunately felt like a game between a prologue and a full GT. It took many years, but it looks like we're finally coming back home!

Someone on reddit has finally got a PS4 copy. His initial reports are positive, says the game runs well on base PS4. Anyway, tomorrow we will find the truth. I'm not worried, but I find it bizarre that Sony hasn't showed any gameplay on PS4 with 3 days to go.
There were people saying Cyberpunk ran well on old consoles at 20 fps too, I will take this with a grain of salt until I try it myself.

From a couple of video streams I've seen, it does to an extent but not greatly. I think there's also a setting where you change the AI difficulty to 3 different levels of settings before a race - Professional Level being the highest.

there is literally no reason gt7 will run badly or at 20 fps on a base ps4
it uses same engine as gts and that runs at 60 fps on it
It won’t be that bad but I do know that some people have a very weird perception of how well games run.

I've not watched any of the streams, but from what people have said my reading is that the initial easy/medium/hard settings would contain within them different levels of difficulty depending on the race. Tiers within tiers - so whatever the difficulty level, there is still a progression in difficulty as you go through the game.

Just so you know, a "Day 1" patch is a patch available on the launch day to consumers. It doesn't mean it only arrives on launch day for everyone - several games I've reviewed have had the Day 1 patch applied a week before launch.

I don't know if this is the case for GT7 or not, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't.
True, but I'd be surprised if there isn't another patch landing on Friday. After all, GT Sport received about 3 updates by the time it actually released IIRC.

That doesn't make any sense if that's true. Why would someone who knows that they want to be challenged still have to do races that are too easy for him at first? (Though they'll probably never get any truly hard races, it's Gran Turismo after all). There's no point in babying someone who chooses to make the game as hard as possible.

So there are THREE different difficultly settings, one fixed and two user chosen? That seems rather confusing.

So I can enter a fixed easy difficulty race with hard chili AI selected in one menu and beginner AI selected in another?

Surely there is some level of misunderstanding and some of these settings only affect custom/arcade because otherwise it sounds bonkers.

They first nerfed the clutch during the PS3 era iirc. The clutch is still not right in GTS, you simply just do not miss gears in real life like you can in GTS.

It shouldn’t be OP either but nerfing it into the ground isn’t the answer considering it’s the most difficult way to race.
i have 1300hours on gts and i promise you it's not different than at launch

Assetto Corsa do provide more freedom on shifting gear but GTS require a small timing

i could show you a recent video of me powershifting with the e92 as proof xD

and also maybe your clutch doesn't press completely

Reviews should start coming out tomorrow correct?
11.01 UTC on March 2nd:

🤷‍♂️

I would imagine to give a sense of progression.
He is speaking too fast for me to understand. Can someone translate the obvious fluff? Because I'll take anything I can get.
Turn on the subtitles and then click translate in the settings.

Are the reviewers able to assess the online component?

If so, how? Does PD set up exclusive, "closed" access to the servers for them so they can race each other?
Reviewers typically have 'press sessions' for multiplayer and the like to test some functionality out. I imagine Sony/PD rolled something like that out to help with the process🤞

Just like how doing chores is technically being productive, while not achieving anything of note. It's hardly real progression if you're just getting boring stuff out of the way to get to the races you actually want to compete in. Why not make the game challenging (by Gran Turismo standards) from the start, for people who want that challenge?
