Yup just as i thought, someone on reddit already complained that the game is grindy, in the predict metacritic thread i said that grind would be one of the bigger complaints and looks like i was right. This is what happens when plenty of racing games (looking at you Forza) gives you instant gratification by gifting the player fast cars very early in the game, im not surprised if this game will only be an 80-83 in MC.

I love grinding so it will probably be a great game for me
Forza Motorsport 7 gave players a choice to be fair. You could select a discounted car, race suit, or a fixed amount of money as a reward with each level reached. And given you could earn money using your own cars in custom races, the grind wasn't really a grind.

Forza Horizon might throw some cars at players early on, but it has its own form of grinding, with players having to play daily to win certain cars.

From gamespot's review (8/10)

Races go the usual Gran Turismo way. You start at the back and fight your way to the front. Races have a recommended PP (Performance Point) rating to let you know how competitive your car needs to be. By sending whichever car you've chosen to race to Understeer and buying choice toys, you can comically overpower your ride and pick off most of the field on the first lap. It’s an old-school GT trick, and something that, as you advance, becomes trickier to do as your competitors advance with you. Like GT games of old, the pack at the rear is easy to take, a small gap leads you to another set, after another gap you'll encounter the front runners, before having a mildly troubling fight for first. Why Gran Turismo insists on starting you at the back of the pack for each race is baffling, but for a one-off race, it's understandable. However, for the occasional championships, no matter if you win, or place highly, in a previous race you'll still start at the back, which is perplexing–surely you'd start at the front if you were in the lead of a multi-race championship? It mocks your effort a touch.

So one of the most important things that needed improving, they haven't bothered.

Alright so I wasn't that far off from a 90 on Metacritic (the scores aren't on Metacritic, but after seeing so many 9's i have the feeling that it'll reach to that number).

It's the first Gran Turismo game that finally surpassed GT5 scores after more than a decade, and it looks like it'll surpass GT4! Great job PD and Kaz, you finally made a GT that almost everyone enjoys!
