You can get past every car up to third in the first lap of every race.
World finalist Tidgney wasn't able to. Not once did he reach 3rd on the first lap in all 5 attempts (3 laps at Fuji).

Cars 1 & 2 have more power and more pace, increasing as you get closer to them.
@05XR8 conducted tests on Friday that confirmed that there was no rubber-banding.

Thank you for responding Andrew.

There absolutely is - although I think of it as "accordioning", as you push the car ahead of you away, while dragging the car behind you with you.

I just did a race at Mount Panorama, rocketing past the first 17 AI in no time at all, catching up to the 1-2 battle on lap four. They were tight to each other the entire race to that point as I carved 18s out of their lead in three-and-a-bit laps. The instant I passed the car in second, the car in first gained four seconds a lap and it took another entire lap to get past it; it finished just over two seconds behind me.

My lap times were fairly consistent 2'03s. That means the lead AI was doing 2'08s until I caught up to it, then 2'04s after that.

You can see it in pretty much any race, even starting as far back as Igor Fraga's first appearance in the Civic.

Oh and you can also do the usual stopping on track and even lapping backwards, and the AI practically dawdle round at 35mph. I did this on Tuesday in one of the first races at Lago Maggiore Centre.

Crumpets mate. Thank you!

When I read 05XR8's experiment the other day it sounded pretty-convincing. IIRC he conducted it at Trial Mountain or Deep Forest, so I wonder whether or not there could be some sort of track dependency involved. Not that it would make sense. Hmm...

Is there an Widebody for the Charger Hellcat? If so, I'm sold
I can check for you right quick.

Edit: Yes there is but it's not major just wider fenders.

Not for nothing and not to sound corny, but I want to just thank PD, and GTP for just experiencing another GT release.. I’ve been playing GT like most of you since a little kid, my family which consist of my wife and three kids (two girls, 8, 17 one boy, 6) knew how much I was looking forward to play in GT7 lol. My son would always ask me how many more days dad lol.. Fast forward to yesterday I had GT7 on idle with the music playing and my kids and wife were dancing and loving it! It made me laugh and really appreciate not the game so much but the memories that come with it… I just lost two good buddies to stupid social society pressures, and they also played GT and was looking forward the release. Sit back just thinking about life and how lucky some of us are I just had to thank PD and GTP for the good memories! Everyone stay safe and I hope you’re enjoying GT7!

Keep trying, man!

Question to anyone — is there any way to reset the odometer? I fear there isn’t. Tried buying a new engine for 100,000 for a used car with ~97,000 kms but that didn’t help.
Was almost gonna try this myself until I saw this comment. Thanks for your sacrifice. 🙏
A-9 is Hell!!!
Oh god, I know. Took me close to a dozen retries each to gold both this and A-10.

Another thing that annoys me about the game is that to select specific opponents for custom race mode, they can only be cars in your garage. That's way too restrictive. I guess with all the duplicates I'll probably win later, that issue will resolve itself, but the problem is that it's too restrictive now and it's not the best way to implement this mode.

We should be allowed to pick any car in the game, not just cars in the garage. Along with any color or random colors. They way it's done here just takes some of the fun out of it. Being able to choose garage cars can be fun of course, but it should only exist alongside the option to just pick any car in the game. Not being the only option for specific opponents.

Man, they may as well have dubbed S-10 "Final Boss". I found all licenses up until there fairly doable, but golding that last one took me four hours straight. The effort really pays off though. You get the Red Bull X2019 Competition as a reward, which otherwise would cost you 3 million Credits to buy.

With this said, I can see a bright side with choosing cars from your garage. That could mean you can race against cars you modified potentially. Which could mean if you made some Gr.A rally car replicas with some of the cars like the Celica GT-Four or Subaru Impreza 22B for instance, you could then make your own Gr.A Rally car race event.

or turn the Porsche 911 GT1 street version in the game into the 1997 Evo Racer model and pin it against the CLK-GTR and F1 GTR Longtail. Now that brings some creativity with races.

EDIT: Also, I couldn't resist looking at some of the custom parts available for some of the cars I bought already. I kinda like these.
The Lancer Evo. VI TME can have the normal Evo VI front bumper and taillights. Kinda a reverse on what you can do with the Evo. VI GSR in Forza.

Just in case you didn't know, you can do a license plate delete. Though only on the front bumper sadly.

The Evo. V GSR can have its foglights covered, like on the Rally Car. It also has flared wheel arches for a widebody kit, so you can recreate the rally car for the most part.

Like the Evo. VI, it too can have its taillights altered for if you wanted it to look like the RS version I guess or the Mine's Evo V.

The Subaru Impreza Type R can have a less agressive bodykit, I'm guessing more like the 1998 Type R.

It also has alternate spoilers similar to the earlier STIs or the WRX models. Something to keep in mind if you wanted a more normal looking Impreza.

the Porsche 964 Carrera RS has a spoiler like on the Turbo S and one like on the 1970s Carrera RS. Sadly no custom wings available.

What on earth is your A-9 setup? No matter what I do, it's impossible using the controller to steer left enough even at a speed lower than that of the demo ghost. It is not possible to match that line through the corner. It's driving me insane. It can't even turn left that much at 26mph, nevermind 36.

The AI do seem to be more mince at some tracks that others (and they cannot rally at all; it's actually a surprise this made it to the final game because it is awful), but from my experience it's everywhere.

My next race was N24 and, while it isn't the best place to do this kind of comparison because it's too damn long and there's only two laps, the leading AI again started 30s up the road, I closed to within four seconds by the time I left the GP circuit the second time (so in excess of 20s faster per lap), then found the gas pedal and ended up only three seconds behind at the finish. It was running through some sectors (and bear in mind it doesn't complete all sectors on lap one) three seconds faster with me right behind it than when I was 25s down.

Also I just won 1m credits with a 6-star Roulette ticket...

I think it'd be best if they scrapped rally altogether, but the Gr.B cars are so sweet to drive and I don't want to see them go...

do you need it to complete the cafe/game?

Noticing a trend so far after beating the A license that all the hard license tests have to do with Hondas :grumpy:

Oh, and the A-10 Supra.
