It's pretty clear you think devs are just out here wasting time making an entirely new codebase and engine and using all that time only to get right back to where they left off with the previous codebase instead of just iterating upon it and improving it. It's not that difficult to do some research. Just look at the devs talking about developing a new "engine", such as Bungie making Destiny's "Tiger Engine", or 343 making the new "Slipspace" engine for Halo Infinite, when in fact those engines are still heavily based on the original Halo Blast engine because the feel of shooting from the Halo games didn't want to be lost. GT5 literally was found to have the entire usable code of all past GT cars and tracks, hmmmm I wonder why.

It's a complete waste of time to restart everything from scratch, and yes devs iterate time and time again. That is Software development in general. How do I know this? Because I code. Literally watch a new gameplay video of Forspoken (Next-gen PS5 exclusive) and you can tell they're literally building upon the same animation and combat system they built for the last-gen FFXV.
"you think devs are just out here wasting time making an entirely new codebase and engine and using all that time" Why arte tyou trying to pick a fight?
That is the exact opposite of what I said, I gave examples of games that did that, what I said about GT was objective... I'm speaking from dev experince.

I think it's only a problem when it's too obvious, like with Elden Ring. That game's code is so old now that they moved to an open world game and it has tons of performance issues. The basic game is Dark Souls with a new name. It'll win the GOTY, because gamers are sheep, but it's not unlike people continuing to buy FIFA games despite EA breaking them further with every new release.

When it comes to iteration, Ubisoft are kings, but also Sony and the basic climbing mechanics from Uncharted which have made their way into most of their games. Microsoft's official speech is to have "the most diverse lineup in gaming" and I wonder how much more money they want to burn in order to do that, because it's dumb to not iterate. Even then, every Bethesda shooter feels the same to play.

This is also why I'm convinced the "revolutionary" Forza Motorsport will be much more familiar than people think. I highly doubt they're gonna throw ForzaTech away instead of simply adding to it.

Yeah there's very few devs/games in the AAA space that would even warrant a complete restart in a blank state. Coding is very time consuming and difficult, and games are getting increasingly larger and expensive to make. It's kind of a miracle moderns games even ship in a decent state. Would just be foolish not to build and iterate on previous tech.

Forza Horizon is great and is literally just built on top of the Forza Motorsport tech and engine, and the sequels keep improving upon that base. If GT7 was made with next-gen only in mind, no doubt they could do more with the physics or other aspects of the game, but it would still be based on previous work PD made with GT. The official GT7 website literally states the GT physics has 25 years of history

If people want more new tracks / cars in GT7, that's more of an issue with Polyphony not getting outsourcing help rather than an issue with GT7 being based on old code.

I am so sick of the Porsche Cup menu book. I just want to beat it but it's either I get a rabbit car with super rubber banding or I get a downpour of rain or both. Almost tempted just to grind that American Daytona race and just buy the cars from the UCD... but I want them with 0 miles. :grumpy:

How in the world did you guys beat it?
I won the 2001 GT3 Porsche road car and use that. It's super tail happy so I did two weight reductions and then bought ballast and added 200 kg of ballast all the way to the front to take the weight distribution from 38% front to like 48% front.

This made the car extremely neutral in mid to hight speed corners.

Add a front lip and rear spoiler and you got a very drivable car.

From what I've seen it's partly their garbage DRM implementation and partly that they tried to use DX12 without understanding what they were doing. The old code bits are actually fine, it's the new stuff that they tried to do that is breaking the game.

I managed to get this done last night. Yes you're right the nsx and Porsche are quite bullish. Your first corner needs to be really quick, getting past him before he does his twitch. Then go round the outside of the Lexus, letting off slightly so you don't go too wide and compromise the braking for the left handers. Again this corner need to be as smooth as possible. I get to the next braking zone just alongside the nsx. I'm positioned on the left side of them and go around the nsx just behind the Porsche into the next left hander. Draft up behind him to the next corner and again overtake on the left. He brakes quite early for the right hander. Don't bother trying to take the Aston until the main straight. The key is making sure you brake enough to not run too deep on corners. Took me about 15 attempts. Good luck 👍
I appreciate your breakdown, though regret to inform you (or glad) that I passed it too today. I thought about describing the experience but as it turns out this entire page already nailed it, it's the wind. I restarted the event from the menu until I got the wind RNG I needed going into the final straight. What's shocking is that now with the favorable wind, the AI is now fixed where the blue NSX never overtakes the Porsche, and the Aston is finally within arm's reach at the end. Thank you PD for your wonderful programming skills, we're all delighted to lose brain cells beta testing your unfinished product.

when you enter a Championship is there no option to get out of it and take a brake? what if i want to finish gaming for the day after one race?

I had to see for myself, but you cannot sell cars you've bought with your credits.

So with that 99' S2000 in that there used car dealership one question comes to mind.

Do we go with a spoon sports racing mod livery from GT2? Or do we go Spoon S2000 from GT3?
Unfortunately it's not worth owning since there is no option to lower the roof, or buy a hard top.

A friend sent me a message tonight saying he was struggling with the Peugeot 908 in the Porsche Curves so I tried it in circuit experience and it is a lot worse than when I golded it last week (its still doable but nowhere near as easy), unless your line and lifting mid corner are perfect the rear snaps with no way to correct it. Weirdly if you drive the first right with the inside tyres on the grass it is fine and can be taken flat out. There is definitely something weird going on with the physics and the update last week seems to have exaggerated it.

That's unfortunate. No roof option for the S800 or MX-5s.

As for the S2000 kit, it's pretty much the Spoon light tuned version.

Well, anyway, going in with the alt. Taking this one slow.

Honestly I think it's a tuning sheet issue somehow. My own 908 seems perfectly controllable.

Right... Have you even tried it, or are you just basing your opinion based on Youtube gameplay? Btw, I'm on PS4 and I've had no performance issues.

Detuned my 917 Living Legend to 650 PP and it was an easy walk in the park.

Okay, started with my alt. I get the four bonus cars. Plus, the UCD seems to be the same for everyone regardless of when they start the game. I’ll snatch up that Super Bee, this time.

Did a 15 lap custom race tonight with Gr4 cars (driving my '23 Z GT4). Started 5th and grabbed 4th almost right away, then made a mistake and spun out. Fell to 15th. Was able to claw my way back to the front by lap 13, where I caught the lead car. He tried to defend the inside going into this corner and missed his brake marker, overshot the corner and spun out. You love to see it. :D

I also havent seen the 22b diablo or murcialago so people are defiinelty getting somewhat different dealerships.. instead of those cars mine seems to add more cars thst i already aquired doing menu books

Just some info as f40 is a waste of money for example it has no brakes basicly (was awesome in gts)
It is much harder to drive yes. But i think it is still worth the money just for collectors purposes.

And brakes can be upgraded.

It could explain why the PlayStation versions perform better than the Xbox versions (no DX12 on PlayStation), but still doesn't explain why the PS5 can't maintain a locked 60 fps in a game that, in all honesty, looks pretty bad for a 2022 release.
