I guess it's back to GTS for the weekend then

After 24 hours of inactivity I'm really very disappointed, I'm quite young as a GT fan, I only started with Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec on PlayStation 2, man, those were good times... Not to mention Gran Turismo 4, crazy that it is so beautiful in 2022! I still think today they are unattainable as well as having a very strong emotional bond with them, being that I first started watching my dad play with them.
-snip-
Yep, already digging out the old version!...

It’s completely understandable to be upset and disappointed about this. Especially the lack of communication from Polyphony.

But I know This is a worst case scenario for game developers. No one who spent years making this game wants to see it currently unplayable.

The current decision to not speak publically about it is disappointing but I won’t just assume that it must mean They don’t care about the game. In fact I refuse to believe that.

Its been a long time since i last posted on here... Back in the game after picking up a copy of GT7 (Anniversary edition). Question, my copy was purchased on Amazon UK, and wanted to know if there is a region lock on the anniversary edition? I've read comments of the digital version of the ps4 game not working as well as any dlc content that also comes bundled.. How do I check the region of my copy?

Please stop crying, this is what i hate about internet, people act like they would never do in reality, just because you're protected by a screen it doesn't mean that you can remove the filter that you use in real life, because if you remove it in reality you're going to be hated by anyone.
Me too is very annoyed by this situation, but i respect people that work at pd that are trying to solve the problem, 1 day without playing won't kill anyone, don't be childish.

Yes because it is childish to be angered about being locked out of using a product and/or features you paid for. You should take your own advice and stop crying too.

Being mad is perfectly appropriate here.

I can let an oopsie bug slipping into an update go, but to fundamentally design a game to be inoperable when they lock down the servers is stupid and completely avoidable. I understand the need for online connectivity to prevent cheating, but they could’ve made 90% of the game usable without server requirements, and just had a mandatory sync necessary when entering online/competitive modes. But no, let’s make sure your disk or digital key is no more than coaster if the servers goof up.

I would absolutely say this to the face of any and all PD employees responsible for the lockdown process because apparently they haven’t heard it loud enough.

It’s bad.

But it has the power to kill some carreers. Something similar did away with both Driveclub and its studio.

Yes and the studio came back with a vengeance to make Driveclub the best game as A last hurrah… proving that it was not their intention to screw up and in fact it was probably their worst nightmare.

‘’I believe Polyphony do not want this to happen and are doing everything they can to fix it. They have said that they are trying their hardest to fix the problem… it’s just that they haven’t communicated much else about it.

but I believe this is a nightmare to them.

Doesn't matter. Evolution released a heavily online reliant game that wasn't properly tested with more than a year of delay, the fact is that they fixed an already dead IP. It killed the studio. This won't kill Poliphony, but it'll bring radical changes, I have no doubt about it.

Anyone looking for a similar type racing game should check out Ride 4. Basically the tourist trophy 2 we'll never get.

258 bikes
22 manufacturers
34 locations
67 layouts
162 cups

Figures include all the released DLC. Pretty sure the game and season pass are on offer right now on PS Store. Well worth your time.

Someone here LITERALLY compared the one day outage of this video game to the murder and savage devastation Russia is perpetrating on Ukraine. My carpel tunnel from gripping the controller too hard through turns is glad the servers are down for a bit. Let's not lose our heads. **** happens.

I've taken the opportunity to play some arcade races offline over the last couple of days but there's even some question marks about that.

Firstly, my game actually froze after just one race yesterday, which was the third time since launch that it has happened, but is also pretty poor given that this is literally all we can do with the game (except for the mind-numbingly awful Music Rally).

Yesterday, the distance I raced was credited in the usual manner toward my Daily Marathon goal (which I was surprised to see), but that has not happened today. It remains to be seen when the servers come back up whether or not I'll get these two Daily Marathons (and the associated roulette tickets) credited to my account, or if they will just vanish.

Arcade Mode has always been a bit borked, and while I enjoy it to some extent, the rubber banding is frankly ridiculous. And that is with the 'Boost' option turned off too. My last race was 5 laps at Fuji Speedway on Expert difficulty. The lead/pole car did the first lap some 11 seconds quicker than me, and yet I managed to finish 2nd, just 2.5 seconds off the lead. During Laps 2-5, I was consistently lapping within a one second boundary, but even my quickest lap was still around 3 seconds off the purple lap set by the pole sitter on Lap 1 which ought to have been his slowest lap, not his fastest by a mile.

So, given that this is all that is currently on offer from GT7, it is pretty disappointing.

edit: Aaaaand it's frozen again...

Is GT7 still partnered with the FIA? I know they said hackers were their biggest fear with gts which made them do always online which makes sense if the game represents fia approved racing.

Anyway having spoken to video game developers myself and as I'm sure journalists here like famine can attest to. Game developers always talk about their fear of online connection. Even games purely designed for online play sometimes have major crashes. GTA online as an example.

I do agree with you that this probably will change GT's approach, though but I think it's just easy to write it off as they don't care.. which is what alot of people are saying.

People at PD created this problem.
Yes of course, but if you reason like this it mans tht you've never done a single mistake in your whole life.
We're forgetting that we're not attacking pd that is just a studio, but we're attacking the people that work there.
How would you feel if people treated you like that only for a mistake.

I too am angered, but i still respect people that are working to solve the problem.
Anyway i'm not crying at all and acting like that is what i meant in my first message, i will resist 2 days without gt7 even if i love it, it's just a game.

I agree on what you have said, bit being mad is never appropriate, the respect and the control of ourselves is what makes us human beings and remember that is just a game.

Surely is going to create problems, even to me, but they already apoligized for this, of course this situation wasn’t created on porpose, everyone makes mistakes.

Did you have tire degradation on? If so that might explain her dropping lap times.

For more press hounding on the current situation... IGN and Paul Tassi of Forbes is getting into it:

I think it's funny IGN says "up to US$40 for a single car" - when the 12 million credit XJ13 would be US$120 if funded purely by the MTs (or US$300 if you funded it by repeatedly getting the 100,000cr MT option).
