GT7 is actually the one that needs it the most, the car list lacks behind soo hard in terms of modern road cars that it feels like a 2016 game. There are too many important road cars missing even from the brands they already have in the game. They use mostly old models from the older games and patch them up, but those models where from 2009/2012 games. Outside the 2 Mercedeses, 2 Ferraris and 1 porsche, which modern car did they add in GT7 that is post 2017? Don't forget that they have worked 5 years on this game and the car list and track list is 90+% from GTS.
That's honestly to be somewhat expected. I mean, they spent a lot of time during that period modeling and licensing cars for GT Sport post launch. Most of GT Sport's car list were DLC cars. Not trying to say it excuses them, but just want to make sure you have the perspective on why that it's the case.
This is somewhat true, except there is no reason for PD to slow down just because GT7 launched with more cars. Gran Turismo used to set itself apart by the car count. It was arguably easier for them in the “standard car” era, but even with the high quality models we have nowadays they should still pursue as many cars as possible.
Did you make the liveries or did you download them? Cause you could (if you have the credits) to make the Pennzoil ZEXEL or perhaps the XANAVI Hiroto from Gran Turismo 4. Even those liveries from GT2 would be fun for races.
I downloaded them, I originally thought of making my own, but there were a few decent quality liveries made already that I didn't feel a need.

Those are already made, a couple of users I follow had done so already when I looked at showcase and there's more if you search.
I looked yesterday and there were only 2 Xanavi Hiroto liveries, both of which were pretty poor.
I'll get to it some point... Just did the Calsonic like everyone and their mom, hopefully will find time to do the Xanavi this week in-between work and swapping out the fuel pump on my real car.
I’ve only driven it in the Daytona CE, but I did really like it. I will definitely buy it at some point but I’m in no rush at the moment.
