I noticed something with the 2005 MINI, if you install sports hard tyres and a sports exhaust you can then install a racing air filter and the PP rating will actually go down despite the rest of the car's overall stats improving.
I have noticed this with a few cars. Different parts installed in a specific order seems to trigger it.

Check it out! The GOAT is finally in Gran Freakin' Turismo!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

You have to be kidding...

Anyone else noticed the tyre wear difference in v1.20? My grind of choice is the 30min Le Mans Gr4, for which the GR86 is a pretty guaranteed winner. If it stayed dry(ish) one set of RH would last the whole race but not since the update. It's still an ideal car for the job, but the the single fuel only stop strategy is out now.

Pay attention to how the car feels, not what the HUD says. They didn't adjust the tire wear, only how it is displayed with the icon. They may look like they are wearing faster but they are not.

Tire wear was adjusted in the update. The patch notes specifically say so, and I can confirm. Some of my previous strategies no longer work, such as using the same set of hard tires throughout a race.

Maybe you won’t see this post as I seem to recall you saying something about having assembled a massive ignore list.

My typical strategy for LeMans still works fine. In fact I managed a FL on lap 6 with the same tyres I started the race on! I also had a downpour during the race and noticed that RHs seem to perform a lot better on a damp track. I had tyres at 50% (on the updated HUD) with the rain also around 50% and had so much confidence!

That’s interesting, but maybe the wear rate also depends on the car. Using the Lexus SC430 GT500 for WTC800 at Sardegna I now find that racing hards on the rear are completely gone on lap 12. Before the new update I’d still have around 65% left when finishing the race on lap 15. No chance anymore making it through without changing tires halfway into the race.

The car is in the intro movie, which was released as a pre-launch trailer.
So are a few others like the AMG Black and ZR1, but this is a significant car. Especially being the newest and most anticipated affordable sports car.

I highly doubt PD would highlight a car unless the manufacturer paid them to do it, or gave them a considerable discount on licensing granted PD would give the car a special feature of some sort.

It would be good if we got more variations of cars currently in the game. I think it'd be fun to have a "poverty" spec and a "middle" spec car next to the top spec; for example a BMW 420i and 435i alongside the M4. They're 3 distinct variants of the 4 Series platform with different trim, power and body panels. When you're in the BMW dealer or any other, you'd be able to pick both the variant and the colour at the same time. I think it'd be a good way of adding some more variety to the car list quickly.

Maybe track dependant too? Did the DT Gardens WTC700 and should have pitted on lap 9 - front right was totally red!! Usually (like LeMans) it’s a 1 stop for fuel only!

Tyre wear is definitely broken at the moment. Been attempting to do the Tokyo Expressway grind for which I have been using Sports Medium tyres (Tokyo Expressway historically has had low tyre degredation).
I'm able to get within a few tenths of my fastest lap with the wear indicators very red. Grip was fine, felt like maybe 30% wear pre-update. But as soon as the tyres went fully red on the indicators, the next lap I dropped around 16 seconds in pace and the car simply refused to turn. The cliff was immensely steep, instant even.

Really hope that they fix this, even going back to the pre-update system. Same goes for the sensitivity for mechanical damage. The slightest tap on a wall that wouldn't even trigger a penalty will now give you front aero & suspension damage.

Because of these factors, I am currently unable to efficiently credit grind as most decently paying events feature tyre wear. It also would seem that the A.I. are unaffected from what I can tell. Really hope these get either reverted or fixed before the McLaren MP4-4 becomes sold out.

I want to point out that the Tokyo 600 has different multiplier for tire wear.

Until this 1.20 update, Tokyo 600 had a tire wear multiplier of 9x. Now it's 12x. No changes in fuel consumption.

Le Mans 700 (6x fuel, 10x tires), Sardegna 800 (8x, 12x) and Spa 800 (4x, 8x) are still the same

Job well done PD! That's what they want.

Ah. So they adjusted the event so you can't make a no-stop strategy anymore? That sucks. Still think the tyre wear cliff is bugged because I shouldn't be dropping 16 seconds from one lap to the next. And the hyper sensitive mechanical damage is still an annoyance that I hope they revert.

But thanks for informing me that the multiplier for that event has changed. Might need to find a different car that can make a one-stop strategy work. Been using a Nissan GT-R Gr.4 which is great in the corners, but loses out on the straights.

Do keep in mind you are at 12x wear, and therefore the cliff is 12x steeper than it is designed to be. Normally you can feel the car start struggling as tread hits about 15/20% - and it declines from there over a few laps.

I think the damage is fine too. You aren't meant to be touching walls whilst racing - I somehow doubt you'd drive away from a brush against a metal barrier with an intact car in real life.

Its Spa lol

edit: actually it has that faint line looping off the back so maybe not! I thought it was La Source. I don't think they'd tease anything (intentionally) on the twitter account though.
Yea that's what I mean, and thought the same thing at first! 😂 It's probably nothing.

I honestly didn't expect PD to add a full-on Rally-Cross circuit. It's probably not implemented the best, but that's still interesting. Though yes, these layouts really should've been something added back on GT Sport, don't know why they waited until GT7 to do that.

and the cars they picked does make this one of their better content updates.

I read the notes and couldn't decide which of those answers was right. RH don't seem to be deteriorating at the rate illustrated, but they also don't last the 7 laps anymore either. So maybe both

I need to try this circuit properly. I gave it 5 mins at the end of a lunch break and it was disastrous 🤣
