Do we think Sony's current seeming withdrawal from in-house live service games will affect PD in any way?

For those not aware, it recently came out they've cancelled two more in-development service games, to go along with the earlier cancellation of the Last of Us multiplayer game, the shutdown of London Studio last year who were thought to be working on a service game and the whole Concord fiasco.
For the millionth time, GT7 is not a "live-service game" by any established metric.

Uh, in the link you provided it literally lists microtransactions (necessary or not) as an example of a live-service game. I'd say that's a fairly well established metric.

From YOUR LINK, under "examples - microtransactions": "a game that aims to provide ongoing service will gear its design and financial approach to assure that a small fraction of players will purchase this content immediately rather than grinding through the game for a long time to obtain it."

Maybe you've had to say it a million times because people keep telling you you're wrong?

Interestingly though (at least last I read), Sony themselves do NOT consider Gran Turismo 7 as a Live service game so take from that what you will...

Are all things that are yellow bananas? Just because it has one factor common to live service games, does not make it a live service game.

You pay full normal retail price at purchase and actual content updates are free. That leans very heavily against the GaaS model.

They may as well have said it's coming February 🤣 That would be closer to the truth than January. Fingers crossed we get a decent update. They've had 3 months to come up with something.
January 30th still being January not February😅, tbh the moment thwy announce the exhibition series for this wednesday I though the update was going to be released until next week

It’s so weird to me that Sony would go to studios like Bluepoint and Bend to fulfill their misguided service game dreams instead of looking at what they have and how they can monetise it better. Not to give anyone ideas, but if there’s one franchise that Sony owns that lends itself perfectly to the service game formula it’s Gran Turismo.
I’m happy they don’t exploit it or me or us (yet), but I would not be too surprised if GT8 showed up and had things like car passes, car packs and exclusive nonsense that con only be obtained with real money.

Anyway. Let Bend do Days Gone 2 and Bluepoint the Bloodbourne remake is what I’m trying to say.
