Hmmm, I'm not sure about the performance woes people are reporting. So far, I can only see drops on the old 4K60 mode without the 120hz option.

If I turn it on, a full grid at sunset at RBR will drop it to 80fps max, and I can't notice any stutter. On the Type V Nurburgring race, I only report drops on the regular 60fps Native 4K mode. If your TV has VRR, turn it on. But that mode (regular 4K60), even with VRR stutters.

Now, the new unlocked resolution mode runs above 80 all the time. Managed to get it to 70fps - Tokyo 20 different cars at night. With rain, same results, it just cannot drop below 70fps, no stutters whatsoever.

The only mode that stutters is definitely when you have 120hz OFF. Framerate mode + 120hz at night, full 20 car grid, torrential rain, runs at an spectacular 110-120fps. Amazing

Yes yes yes
Im on to something to make it work again but these decisions are wierd. It is my main car and im playing this game a lot in open lobby.
I wonder how these changes will effect the super license S7. It is already very hard for many of us. I just hope its not like impossible now :-(

Try the Porsche Gr.3 on Trial Mountain, early morning with alpine mist and a full grid. That's one combination I've been able to consistently replicate the drops on.

Anyone notice that the Logitech G-Pro does behave completely different? It way to soft and has no feedback when adding small steering inputs. That’s not nice at all. That should be changed!

where i can see frame drops is in the start of the new Nurb WTC800 race with 4k60 VRR , its visible because it drops to 47 fps like for few seconds and that is under the VRR scale , i wish PS5 supported AMD Freesync which goes from 30 instead of regular 48

Some say it has the sound of the Audi S1 Quattro which has 5 cylinders but the RS5 DTM has 4 cylinders.
Some people say that it has that sound
All we know is he's called the Stig...

Tried the Honda 60s F1 car and the Aston Martin VGT. Both feel more predictable after the update (to me anyway) and the VGT has lost that snap oversteer 👍

yes, the 4K60 mode is still dropping frames, just like before.

Regular 4k 60
This mode has been having drops since launch. Native 4k is a lot. It looks the best though. Even better than the new mode. Best IQ on console in my opinion, drawback is that sometimes it stutters like you are seeing

Just a quick one, on the Porsche 959 you have the option of a front splitter and a taller rear wing although I have never seen one with this style rear wing? Looking at it, both parts look like they're based off the 961 race car but without the option to widebody the 959 it seems odd.

I was excited about the notice that keyboards were now supported. But alas the keys still do not work if you try to watch a replay using PS Remote App. I was hoping to be able to look at a replay in my office without a controller, but it's still not happening.

After a fantastic ride in Sardegna 800pp with my new love RS5, I still go back to Le Mans with a 959 because I still need money , at the end of the 3rd lap it's raining on the radar, I go into the pit and put on rain tires but the rain decides it won't rain, I don't even know how I drove that lap myself because the tires wore out immediately, mostly it seems that from now on the strategy is to drive on dry tires so whoever survives will talk.

Yeah it will be tough now to decide when to pit for that race. Because if it actually starts to rain hard, and you stay out on dries, you risk losing many minutes (I once did a 9 min lap 😂). But if you predict the weather wrong and pit to inters or something and it doesn't become that wet, you are again kinda screwed. Well it is somewhat realistic now though, since you can't run inters not to mention heavy wets for a long time on dry. And dry tires on wet physics still apply.

I think polyphony came to my house last night & changed my wheel. It feels completely different & no amount of changing the settings helps

Just run Le Mans with the RA272 on Sport Soft. You still have tread and that car is great for the money grind.

Thats great. This is where the true benefit of vrr is - lower fps also feels smooth.

120hz is a gimmic in current gen consoles. Theres just no power to handle 120hz properly.

My PS5 drops frames/stutters very noticeably, just trying to run 4k/60, I can’t imagine 120h working out so well. That’s why I’ve as o skeptical about the PSVR2 before launch, but the eye tracking it was saves it apparently.

Why would I use sport softs, when you could use grippier race tires? 🤔 But yeah that car is great for grinding at WTC700 Le Mans and Tokyo WTC600 too.
Actually, I was probably wrong and would have to double check my set up. I probably use hards for no stop and though the sports had tread but perhaps the racing hards had tread with this car as well..

Just got home from work and tried the update for the first time, and wow, just wow! I’m on controller, but I can feel a massive improvement. The transition from neutral/understeer to oversteer feels so natural now, and the engine braking, as many have pointed out, finally works as it’s supposed to. Thank you PD, you did well this time.

Also, the 959 is just as horrible of a supercar (handling wise) as I’ve seen motor journalists mention, but I love it, lol!

Edit: Oh and how could I forget? Slamming the brakes with ABS disabled feels a hundred times better/more realistic.
