I am just searching for ideas that's why I mostly post in the custom race thread. I am trying to improve his experience with the game and make him as happy as I can. (Right now starting a new project for him: a LeMans League)
Well, I guess we can agree on this: setting up custom races is the best thing you can do in GT7, it offers endless possibiities, and if you take your time for the settings and for tuning the cars(and of course for the liveries...) you can get the best racing experiences(and the best AI) that is at the moment possible in GT7 in single player modus

You won't get the GR Corolla that way, as it's awarded for participation in the Toyota GR GT Cup, but yes to the Himedic. A few seconds should be enough.
Do you have to watch it through the game itself or can you go via the GT website?

Yes it makes it a little bit harder for my son. But still even that custom races are lacking qualifyings, 24h settings, and other stuff you can do in other games.

But to set the liveries and driver names and stuff is something some other games don't offer.

Still I would love if they improve the AI. It's always slowing down after a while, letting my son win. And at some tracks like LeMans or Nordschleife, some cars don't pit and destroy their whole race. Very bad at Nordschleife where all cars except the McLarens pit every lap, while the McLarens just every two laps, making it too easy and too predictable. You can let them start at the end they will still finish on top.

And that's the fixed version by an update a few months ago, where all other AI Cars except the McLaren, didn't pit and went without fuel. That was a mess. Still to easy and predictable.

24h setting should be possible...pit-strategies from the AI is very strange sometimes-that's true...

In my experience: the shorter the track is, the more realistic the AI behaves-and at the Nordschleife it is either much too fast(when set on professional), or terrible and slow(on the other settings)

...too fast? We just play on hardest settings and AI is really crap there. But that's true, sprint races without fuel consumption just tyre switch make it harder to win, because the AI doesn't suck too much.

Yeah 24 hours settings like in Spa, that one hour race with sunset and sunrise is really nice. Sad that it's not possible in GT7 in custom races. In fact it's stil the only face in GT7 with that. In ACC you can even set a 10min race with sunset and sunrise (just taking the time multiplicatior to the max).

What I don't get is, why the AI is that slow?

Does this mean I'm good to go for the first prize?

It sounds like you’re playing a different game than me. The AI is almost non-existent in custom events. No pace and very poor situational awareness.

Sorry if this has been brought up already but, why do we not have the option to put the hard top on the '58 Corvette in GT Auto?

@Chikane_GTR You need to click the blue button and let the video play. So for as I know anyway.

Of course you have to take some time and get the tunes and settings right for each car and, most important, set the boost on weak(!!!...the little trick to get good AI, just in case yoi don't know)...

I usually start btw. 10 and 20PP lower than the best AI car and start from last position(grid start)-then I go from race to race and tune the AI cars up or my car down, until I get an even grid...

But I also just switch between driver rating D and C in sport modus and in the time trails I got some silvers, lots of bronze and not one gold medal...so I am also quite slow, I guess...

You’re confusing AI with opponent car difficulty. AI refers to behavioural characteristics.

You got me there, i guess...;)

When it comes to behavioural characteristics i have seen different things from the AI-from spectacular(and clean!) wheel to wheel racing action throughout a couple of turns to complete passive or stupid driving...and I couldn't make out a pattern yet when the AI behaves this way or that way

I watched the live stream the moment it started through to the end yesterday does it mean I get the Himedic tonight?
No.

Firstly, you need to have watched literally any part of the live stream (even a couple of seconds would have done it) through the game.

There is a specific "Viewers Gift" tile on the GT7 World Map screen; clicking on the blue button marked "Watch Stream (Entry Available)" will load up the stream, would load up the stream. However you could then back out immediately - just clicking on it was enough - and then the blue button will change to read "Watch Stream (Entry Submitted)".

If you haven't done that, you have until 2359 UTC on August 13 (that's today) to do it to qualify for the prizes in the first batch. If you miss that deadline you have until 2369 UTC on August 20 (that's next Sunday) to do it to qualify for the prizes in the second batch.

Secondly the prizes will start to be delivered at 0600 UTC on Monday August 14, which is tomorrow. The second batch will be delivered at 0600 UTC on Monday August 21, which is next Monday.

I have done all that thank you for explanation.

I think there is universal agreement here that locking newly added cars behind PR events is an annoying practice, so why do people play along? Show PD that this method of distributing content is unpopular by resisting participation. Otherwise they’ll just keep doing it going forward.

I think the cow is firmly on the ice with that one

It will get worse and worse, with microtransactions and what damned else they'll come up with. :yuck:

I agree and this is why I haven’t done it, but it’s classic FOMO I'm afraid. Either give a view to the GTWS livestream to get the ambulance now or wait nearly two months to finally drive it. It's already questionable that a similar thing is happening with the GR Corolla, but at least you actually have to play the game to get that car. Here, PD just look pretty desperate to garner interest in the live GTWS races to do something like this. I just hope this doesn’t happen again with the World Finals in December.

The only thing the GTWS races gave me was an idea of what the weather system could be, but isn't. So that's nice, I guess.

The only problem I have with the GTWS stuff is the horrific PS4 web browser. It belongs in Hell.

Otherwise, the streams were good fun to watch and it looked like a great event to be at.

That's quicker than getting a real ambulance in the UK right now...

Having said this, however, it is clear that for me, also with regard to the cars to be added, I would like to see more recent racing cars, in the various categories... There is the licensing problem on this, it's true, it's undeniable... But if small software houses (such as Kunos Simulazioni, or KW Studios, formerly known as SimBin and Sector3 Studios, and also Slightly Mad Studios) manage to solve licensing problems, which are usually money problems, we know it... Are we really supposed to believe that PD, which has Sony behind it, can't solve these same problems? Really? Come on...
These "small" software houses are making games with lower budgets and a smaller scope. You might think that backs up the idea there's no excuse for PD not to have these cars even more, but it actually does the opposite. PD have to spread their budget across more licenses and brands, whilst their budget overall is higher, their budget per car (not that they neccessarily have that per se but if you averaged), is probably lower than what a game focusing on one or two types of car/racing series will potentially pay.

The knock on from this is that PD (and Turn 10/Playground Games), tend to sign longer term deals which typically cost more for the deal but last several games. As a result, existing deals tend to get prioritsed for content, which is understandable, they're using what they've paid for. They then suppliment this with newer deals, but because the games content is spread over such a wide area, people more keenly interested in GT racing or a specific type of car may feel it isn't hitting the mark.

I get the frustration, and maybe PD could do more, but there really is far more to it than them being cheap/lazy or whatever other simplistic argument that frequently gets leveled agianst them. There's also the possiblity that some cars/series are given to other developers exclusively with or without the right to sublicense.

Just because PD have a lot of financial clout, that doesn't mean they can spend what they want, when they want and obtain licenses for what everyone wants. That just not possible. They have to decide where to draw the line on what they spend and where they draw that line will displease certain people. Again, I understand that, but there are a lot of consideration made before time, money and resources are spent on acquiring a specific licensing deal and even with a license, for further time, money and resources to be spent on content being created.
