List of worthy Toyotas not being added, but an ambulance. FFS Kaz, step down.
  • Toyota Soarer
  • Toyota Corolla G6
  • Toyota Altezza (any)
  • Toyota Aristo
  • Toyota Celica GT-FOUR ST-165
  • Toyota Chaser
  • Toyota Mark II Tourer
  • Toyota Starlet Glanza V
  • Toyota Starlet GT Turbo
  • Toyota Vitz RS (Turbo or not)
  • Toyota Vitz Euro
  • Toyota MR-2 1600 G Limited
  • Toyota MR-S
  • Toyota Celica Supra
  • Surely there are plenty more not listed....

And last but definitely not least:
- Toyota GT-One.
Instead of Kaz stepping down, how about you stepping up.
Having a look back at old GT stuff. Interesting how Kaz says if players want to see their favourite car in the game, it may help to write to those manufacturers. Oh… and a week to model a car.

You want those cars, in Your list, to be added? Hit up Toyota and request them. Get enough of your buddies sending requests and see what happens. Maybe that’s a more positive approach, than hoping Kaz will sift through all these posts.

Except "The Real Driving Simulator" is what it has said on the box for the last 26 years. Also, its hilarious that people forgot about things like:

  • Toyota Pod (Gran Turismo 4 Prologue)
  • Ford Model T and Mercedes Patent Wagon (Gran Turismo 4)
  • Volkswagen Kubelwagon and SchwimmWagon (Gran Turismo 5)
  • Moon Buggy (Gran Turismo 6)

Its as if, along with the fictional race cars, this is what Gran Turismo has ALWAYS done: Include things that aren't seen in any other sim.
At the end of the day whatever anyone thinks or prefers to call it, it's a racing game. "The Real Driving Simulator" tag line is only that, a tag line, and it refers to notition of driving your daily car on a race track, something that the was the original game USP as at the time coinciding with it's physics engine which was excellent for it's time.

Don't get me wrong, the game does a good job with the driving physics, and over the years has done a good job of strethcing into races and vehicles you wouldn't typically find anwhere else (as you mentioned), but the game is always a racing game, either against AI opponents or against the clock.

I think his point is just that Gran Turismo has included quirky cars, and a combination of cars across many eras and disciplines, for decades now. Tagline aside, this remains true. Somewhere along the way we got to a point where it's become a tradition to complain about new cars being added to the game that fit that two decade old identity, just because they aren't necessarily the kinds of cars people want to race competitively, or do not have a sentimental attachment to (this applies more to VGT's which are basically our modern version of getting concept cars in old games like the Pod, Motir Triathalon, Nike One, etc).

While there are always going to be a few exceptions or tweaks to what we see GT's identity as being, having a roster of the most recent high performance cars, or race cars from whatever the popular FIA sanctioned championships may be, whether it be LMP/hypercar, GT3/E cars, or whatever else, has never been a part of GT's identity. I'm not sure what point people have began to treat the game as a disservice or a betrayal to its own principles just for doing this, but now we have people borderline calling Kaz senile for an ambulance because it isn't 'worthy'.

Out of all the cars, the Ambulance is the most unique. I know people are hating on it, but I'm looking forward to trying it out, and see how it handles compare to the very nimble race cars, or the large pick up trucks in the game.

And if these Ambulance memes get more people interested in GT7, I'm all for it. Also for a game this old to be getting large free updates is awesome. Thanks PD/Kaz!

GT Sport was a disaster, not because the game itself was bad in a vacuum, but because it brought a bunch of new players who are only here for their weekly Gr.3/4 races and have no idea what the series' history was.

The ambulance is a perfect fit for the series in every game except Sport. This isn't Sport. It's another numbered game.

Oh absolutey, I got the point I was simply clarifying about the tagline and where it originated from. A lot of people use the games tagline to argue against the notion it's a racing game or certain issues people have with it, but @RACECAR probably wasn't the best post to piggyback since I don't disagree with the point he was making. I completley agree about the quirky cars, they've been there since the beginning if you coulnt the Copperhead/Concept Car and they were certainly present from GT2 (Midget Type II, Espace F1 etc.) onwards.

Personally, I have zero problem with the cars being added. The games identity was originally every day cars. As you said, games evolve, but that was the origin of the tagline and what Gran Turismo was about at first. It's more selective about what cars it features these days, albeit still finding space for the oddballs, which for all of the things I'm less keen on, is something I really like about the game.

Maserati has never been the fastest cars around, mc20 is still a supercar, but not the fastest by a longshot, but not slow by any means as its cabable of 0-124 mph in 9 seconds

Truer words never spoken. I honestly wish they kept Sport going as its own thing and had a more causal GT5/6 esque online racing system in GT7 to keep the communities apart.
Sport being carried over 1:1 to GT7 has created a "worst of both worlds" situation where they've created two completely contentious player groups.

However, there is a curiosity with Sport: despite launching as a multiplayer title, a campaign was added shortly after, while we're still waiting for one in GT7  (and no, the Café menus don't count).

While GT7 is delivering on the car department, it ironically is yet to match Sport's single player.

Update? Not in favor for oldtime player's at least.I don't even care about this "so called back to basic's game" anymore. No career mode,no cars from gt1-6 that many of us loved. So this game is sinking faster than titanic, exxon valdez and estonia. Please sony/pd and the rest of the dev's listen to the player's.....:yuck::grumpy::irked: Guess the only one's who is "buying gt8 alpha/beta" is/will be kid's....

Yeah, like Toyota doesn't want their cars on Forza because they are used improperly. And they add an Ambulance to a racing game via GT7. Dudes, accept it, adding an ambulance is stupid and a waste of resources. Obviously I don't like it, but my point is, there are many other quirky cars that could've been added and are more relevant to car history bla bla bla...

If Sport mode actually focused on road cars in proportion to the game's car list, I think many people would be a lot happier with it.
But instead we get 2 grouped races per week, and one event for road cars that's an unranked one-make event 99% of the time.
It's quite unfortunate.

Absolutely. Which makes me wonder why PD chooses to have a majority of the events stick to the same old chase-the-rabbit crap when they know how to get it right.

This.

They could have revamped the events from GT sport into the cafe mode and then add events based on the DLCs cars/tracks.

Also the events are really bad planned, Tokyo expressway has almost 10 events, tracks lile monza and Bathurst just 2 events and Dragon trail is almost only gardens, when seaside is far better as a track

A game makes most of its sales money in the first months of release. So if something goes wrong in that time, it can impact sales.
Gt7 release was, as you know, controversial. When the community expressed its dissatisfaction, fearing an impact on sales, they tried to mend things asap. Thats why you got brand invite cars unlocked, a s-ton of cash for completing circuit experiences, human comedy, tokyo, le mans and sardegna with payouts so exorbitant it made their mtx's irrelevant.
Now, when they already made most of their money, there is no more need for big worries and you get low effort content.

People have been asking for more event like tokyo, le mans and sardegna for so long and yet nothing.

Well I tend to agree with this point of view a lot more and accept it more easily than most of other rant about the game or said update. I mean most of the time it is about expectations not being met or lack of new stuff.

It is normal as well to feel that way. More if you still have in mind the premisse of things before handling the actual game and what it was promised to be. But it got to the point that now it will be easier if you accept that your expectations will not be fulfilled.

It can be mostly based on the lack of communication with the player invested in the game from PD. And the fact that it was something never adressed. Either in a way of « we want to improve, we don’t want to do that for X or Y ». I mean have we already been talked to directly ? Outside of promoting the game I mean ?
Maybe it will change someday but it is better to let go off on the subject.

We don’t have a view of the future outside of what was annouced or that PD had in mind. And no further info on what will be scraped or is still in the tube to be implemented.
The lack of knowing means we have to stop expecting.

On a brighter note I would say that most game launched nowadays don’t had free contents or take care of bugs as much as PD does. I mean we never had an update breaking the whole experience. And if it was, nothing comparable as some updates I had encountered on games like Destiny 2 or CoD MW to speak from recent experience I had on PS4.

We had new cars, new tracks, new race events, Sophy has been showed to be functional and usable, VR support added, online events via TT and such, car’s selling option…

I mean some of those took time but happened still.

But for sure some other did not and where deemed much simpler to add.
Races events and new Championships come to mind as well as « spiced event » or variation on race ( qualifying or standings grid).
We are able to do those via customs race but the lack of Cr incentive and time to set things on the go each time with a not so competitive IA breaks the deal for me.
I never got why we have an historic cars cup but not such thing for the racing cars one’s. I mean since GTS not being able to use those unicorns in a « fair » race is so infuriating. Sure I can race those somewhere but it never feel appropriate choice.

A new 10 missions set someday ?

I genuinely don’t rule those out since we had things added to the Music Rally so…

But mostly I don’t know how to help or engage with people about the games update as of now. I get the point of everyone but mostly if you have never been satisfied of one single updated thing since launch then why do you still keep of hoping for something ?
If the good never had a win over the bad in what was served to you stop dinning at that restaurant I guess?

Or eat in silence ? I don’t know where the analogy will go but…
That car is s’’´´ why they don’t add X !!
Oh a new VGT , go burn in hell sinner !
Those are the lowest of complaints and I concede I will never be able to adress those saying it.
Of you go in me history you will say that I felt like that in some way on past update but that behavior should stop so far away feom launch regarding expectations.
Cheers to all and see you on the 7th for another round

To add on to the bolded, older GT games included weird and even 'useless' cars:

The first one was basically a parkbench/tri-cycle hybrid with a very weak motor but those who say that the Ambulance is 'not in the essence of GT' is mistaken.

What a load of nonsense. "It's a disaster because new players joined! And complain they dare too in the most foulmouthed manner, unlike us learned elders of 'the holy series'. Slay them wherever you find them, I say! Show no mercy upon the infidels, unless they only play Cafe Mode and Music Rally like the good Lord commandeth!"

Oh well, at least in GT Sport weekly road car races actually counted, unlike in GT7.
