If the GT6 stats are to be trusted, then the TS020 has 599HP and weighs 900kg (~1984lbs). Not sure if that means much, but I’d personally compare those stats to other cars in Gr.2 and Gr.1.

EDIT: If the TS020 gets placed into Gr.2, it’d be the lighest Gr.2 car by over 200lbs (~90kgs). Meanwhile, the 2011-spec Audi R18 - a Gr.1 car - has an identical weight while having over 50 less horsepower than the TS020. Something very similar applies to the Toyota TS030.

Interesting photo there for the WTC 900 Le Mans race.

If its Gr.2 then that's fine by me which means less tinkering needed to be done for my 1998 Le Mans grid.

I find it odd that the ‘99 car was put in Gr.2 since it was at that point a pure prototype in a prototype class.

But honestly it being in Gr.2 I’ll give a pass because it was originally designed as a GT1 car and that’s where the “prototype era” GT1 cars are supposed to go.

So… meh. Not the end of the world, can always slap a turbo on it and bring the PP up to the other LMP cars if you want to race it against Gr.1 stuff.

Maybe now we can have gr2 Super GT Class and Gr2 Le Mans class races, instead of having to endure the lack of balance when the two classes get mixed into a single race.

At this point there is seriously no way whatsoever you can genuinely excuse the absence of a track again this time because it has gotten beyond absolutely ridiculous from PD at this point for them to be doing this nonsense...

Its been 13 months since we got a proper road track...

13.

MONTHS.

A WHOLE DAMN ENTIRE YEAR WITHOUT A PROPER TRACK.

If the GT-One ends up in Gr. 2, that mistake could be so terrible if Polyphony were to add like, similar cars such as the BMW V12 LMR, Audi R8 - LMP, Bentley Speed 8, Ferrari F333 SP, etc, as they too, would also wrongfully end up in Gr. 2.

IMO the game’s over two years old as of March 2024. They’re likely well into starting development on GT8 at this point, and the game isn’t going to significantly change beyond a few more cars and maybe another track or two before then.

To me, GT7 just is what it is now. And expecting a significant jump in the amount of content beyond this point is setting yourself up for disappointment.

Honestly I’d rather them focus on preparing content for the next game right now and getting GT8 as a PS5 exclusive so the previous gen that used mid-line PC components by 2013 standards isn’t holding the graphics or physics back any more. And they can release the game sooner rather than updating this old cross-gen one for years longer.

This game ain't finished until we get the 8th and 9th set of missions. It bugs me to death that the last row in the mission menu isn't filled. Would PD really leave those two spots open? Think back to GT5 and its Event Set in each League consisting of 9 screen filling events each.
Obviously joking a bit here but those two empty slots really grind my gears.

Serious mistake how? The GT-ONE roughly matches the perfomance of the CLK LM.
It will outrun the CLK LM. This is more in line with the Bentley Speed 8. However, despite it being slower in top speed than these Group C cars, it will have a similar PP region to them.

Bear in mind, this is the 1999 model which became an LMGTP, which is a different beast to LMGT1. If it were the 1998 model, Gr. 2 would have made more sense, but the 1999 model is rightfully a Gr. 1.

Putting this in Gr. 2 will set a bad precedent where similar cars such as these:

Audi R8 - LMP
Bentley Speed 8
BMW V12 LMR
Cadillac Northstar LMP-02
Ferrari F333 SP
Nissan R391
Panoz LMP01 EVO
Pescarolo prototypes

...if they ever do get added, will all end up in Gr. 2 as well.

It will outrun the CLK LM.
The CLK-LM started on pole at 1998 le mans, it was faster than the gt-one in quali, the GT-ONE had a better race pace, these two cars are pretty balanced, like every GT1 as they all are in the same class IRL, the 1999 and the 1998 gt-one are basically the same.

I am well aware. But it would be quite slow in Gr.1 compared to all the other cars in there.
Honestly the on-paper specs aren’t too far removed from the R18 TDI ‘11 or the 908 HDi ‘10, but the downforce is probably not very good compared to those cars so it’d loose out in the corners quite a bit.

1998. The GT-ONE was slower that year.

But regardless, I don't see why it wouldn't be added in Gr.2.
I guess that's a setup difference, the 1999 differs to 1998 model only in the fuel tank (10L Smaller), the gearbox (Paddles instead of the gear lever) and ABS and TCS (Removed in 1999)

If they were to release a new track, they would still have to kinda downgrade it to PS4 quality, I think.
Personally, I wouldn't mind if GT7 goes down like that if they surprise us with some high quality (maybe city) circuits in the next game.
