Nothing idiot about it - it's a bad system (as I've argued before, including in an article) and throwing pretty much "make 40m credits in the next month or miss out" at players barely a month in was not exactly ideal.
I apologize if I mis-remembered the time . . . but the invites had nothing to do with the 20m credit cars. if I recall correctly. I think there were like six eight or so I didn't have at the time. Granted, I don't have my game to look up when I got a given car, so I may be way off on that number.

However, if I'm off base/missing the point, allow me to apologize in advance!
But, just on the pure facts of the situation, everyone playing over that month definitely had all the tickets available.
This is me. I collected all of "invitation" cars by the end of that time frame. Again, I apologize if I missed the point/am not recalling the time correctly.
I think the event I did most of the grinding for that car was the WTC 800 Race at Sardegna. The car I used for the race? Porsche 917 Living Legend I got from preordering the game at launch.
I have entered the same event but used the Chaparral 2J for a stress-free run. Dial the power back to fit into the 800pp limit, run map 6 until lap 8-9, pit for fuel and scream/laugh all the way to the finish. With a semi-decent drive one can lap the field.

(Edit to add the below)
@ruestchiva

Hopefully they will make Sophy as fast as it used to be in the first preview. I hate that she's just so lame in the current state.
Sophy at that level is not appealing/accessible to the overwhelming percentage of drivers. Remember, full on Sophy (Violet? Verde?) went undefeated against the best Gran Turismo drivers on the planet.

And it wasn't even close.

The current Sophy can be raced against - and actually beaten - by a much wider swath of drivers. As a direct result, more people can have fun and experience Sophy without the need to throw a PS5 across the room

Just a thought or two . . .

What events did you do to grind that much cash, cause I'm at almost 4M, so I have 16M to go to buy the 20M dollar car.
Here is how I grind:
About 1 month after the game released, the heavy complains about grinding and micro transaction resulted in a cheat in which you use the PS Remote App with a short script to have the PC grind money for you on a loop with the Dodge VGT car around the oval track. I took advantage of that and grinded 40M. That gave me enough credit to buy cars and grind with my own physical fingers at Sardegna 800PP GT3 for another 30M.
Honestly, the last 30M wasn't really a grind because I was actually enjoying the races and getting credits while doing that.

I believe those World Circuit events and Missions are more complicated than we think. I mean, those have hard coded AI behaviours like when to Pit, tyre change tactics etc. Sometimes I see similar crashes and mistakes in World Circuit events, those are definately not standard "custom race" set of rules. But i really do hope Sophy will change that in the future.
No doubt there's more to creating a new in-game event than there is for creating a custom race. I was specifically referring to the events that have already been created and released as 'Special Events' in the weekly challenges. Presumably all of the tough work that you mention has been done for those events since we have already had them in the the game to play. I wonder what is keeping them from being made into permanent fixtures.

I use face buttons for gas/brake. I just think it's a more comfortable way to hold the controller.
I used to drive auto transmission because I found it uncomfortable when trying any button config for shifting on the controller. I eventually succumbed to the fact that I was limiting my potential by sticking to the limiting belief that any shifting on the controller would always be uncomfortable. The wake-up call for me was the Aston Martin DP-100 on Tokyo Expressway. I discovered how significant of a disadvantage you are in that vehicle when you use Auto-transmission vs. Manual transmission and short-shifting. I finally was able to finish the WTC 600 in P1 once I forced myself to use Manual. But then I still was reluctant to make the full switch because it was uncomfortable. I went back to Auto-Trans for 2 days and then forced myself to step out of my comfort zone. Once I committed to using Manual despite being out of my comfort zone, I eventually became more and more comfortable. Now I have the muscle memory and it is a breeze.

There are a few inarguable facts when it comes to using controller on GT7. The adaptive triggers provide far more range on your inputs for Gas and Brake in a game that rewards you for proper usage and control of gas and brake. Going full throttle or full brake most of the time will always limit you. The same can be said about steering on joystick vs. using the motion control steering. However, the steering inputs between those two choices are not nearly as drastic of a difference as it is when comparing the triggers vs. the front-facing buttons. But there is still a clear advantage and benefit of using motion steering over the joysticks. It is going to be uncomfortable when transitioning to a new control scheme. But forcing yourself to adapt to an option that statistically provides more of a range of control is worth that time of being uncomfortable. It only took me a few days once I finally forced myself.

**Having said all that I totally understand if we are talking about a physical disability that involves a birth-defect or something like cerebral palsy. I commend Sony for their work with the Access controller and their attempts to provide more options for those with disabilities. But for me the "Uncomfort" I experienced was more about muscle memory and a limiting belief that was more mental than anything. It was from the encouragement of many players in these forums that I am grateful I was influenced to break through that mental block.

Yeah but have you grinded 41 F1's:lol::sly:

Also I wonder what the Level 50 and ABOVE Means?
Billionaire flex 🤣. But I know the F1 is your favorite car so I understand buddy. I actually have the money to buy the F1 but I refuse to do it for a 6 star ticket. If it was a Shelby extra menu I would have no issues getting the Daytona as I wanted that car since the game came out.

Umm, loads? What's the limitation here?

Every single one of the one-make Special Events from Weekly Challenges can and should have an Extra Menu Book by the time the third race is added (meeting the three-race book format of the others). The JGTC one, though we've only had two races, is crying out for it.

We absolutely do not have enough missions.

Eiger. It's in the article.

If anything, I'd love to see more missions that attempt to recreate famous historic races and events. For example: if they ever add the Ruf Yellowbird, you could have a two-lap drift run around the Nordschliefe with it.

I think that is a great idea for missions. Imagine using 330 to try to catch with the Ford at LeMans or using the Ford to hold off the Ferrari. That would be awesome

I think when the update programming switches the PD tyres to Michelins, if players have bought “Michelin” racing tyres, it’ll automatically switch to those. I can’t see players who have spent the credits having to then buy the racing tyres again.
Unless players have to then go into the tyre shop and reapply those purchased tyres(which we could never do with already purchased tyres).
I mentioned this before, the branding wouldn’t apply to cars like the Gr.4 M4(Hankook) and Gr.4 Supra(Pirelli). If this has unlocked the branding in the Livery Editor, that would be fantastic.

They could put the temps on/near the tire wear area. Likely a pipe dream and it won't happen, but I'll happily eat crow if it does!
Technically they already are, but it only turns blue/red when the tires are extremely cold or hot. Why not just make it so the blue or red appears as soon as the tires aren't at optimal temperature? Would be such an easy fix...

Is it just me, but why do I see a Mazda Roadster Touring Car in a race with Gr.B Rally Cars in this picture? It's kind of funny to me because it looks out of place.

Most cars don't come this way from the factory due to it creating more potential oversteer situations. This isn't an issue for someone in motorsports as they're more adept. But for the casual blvd cruiser, not the case. S2000s already had/have(?) a reputation for being tail happy with their factory tire stagger. FTR I never considered mine S2000 to be overly tail happy.
Doesn't look like what I intended to quote came through correctly. There was another post a few pages back about not having heard of the term square setup. I was just trying to provide some insight into square setups.

I am glad I bought the invite cars when all the invites dropped. Well, most of them. I used all my money from CEs and whatnot to get the ones I could. I still needed the Bugatti and Citroen when the invites all expired, but have since been able to get those.

The weekly TTs were not a thing back then, so the big rewards offered there weren't available. Also, when the game first dropped the max one could have in the bank was 20mil; this eventually changed to 100mil (likely after a ton of backlash, especially when PD like to put multiple super expensive cars in the LCD at the time) but I don't recall if that happened before or after all the invites were handed out.

I actually got the Citroen road car itself in a ticket which was amazing; the Bugatti took a while but nothing like some of you experienced. To those who are still waiting, I feel for ya. That sucks.

This is true, but to your point they have to be at extreme levels. I've only seen the blue - albeit faintly - while running IMs on a very wet track (within the W territory). I've never seen that outline go the other way, ie tires are too hot after a spin or when they're getting very worn out.

So, yea... help us out here, PD!

This was discussed in the main "Latest news and discussion" thread - and the consensus was that the driver of the Miata was simply "doing their best." To me, it looks like they were trying to enjoy a track day alone, and then these obnoxious rally cars showed up and ruined it.

I’ve closely read all posts in here, and it’s amusing that so many of the users here doesn’t know about Japanese currency, and the fact all GT games has had regional economy differences.
Look up car wash prizes from GT2. 50 Cr. in Western versions and 5,000 Cr. in the Japanse version. mic drop

And also.
One thing we’ve never gotten since the game released - it baffles me noone has mentioned it - new paint chips. With all the new cars we get, we don’t get the paint chips that go with those cars. I want Plum Crazy purple from the new Challenger, not the old one!

Mart out.

Not quite as much events and other stuff as expected, in the detailed article.
We have to see what happens after patch notes tomorrow.

Still quite excited for this update overall.

We do get new paints, it's just normally 1 or 2 updates after the car comes out and it's never documented.

If you look at Suzuki real car paints for instance there's an Escudo Red in there.

Interesting. I used to regularily check for plum crazy and I have not seen it, which made me think paints never got added. But I did assume it worked like you said, like the engine swaps and was added one/two updates later, but a few updates ago I gave up on plum crazy. I guess I’ll recheck tomorrow then

I don't know if this has been shared but in addition to the jump loss, Eiger Nordwand might also have lost the tunnel :

And i'm quite sure that, this sequence from the trailer is the pit exit in the reverse layout, by the look of the yellow line that matches the pit exit we see on the trailer

They both use two different classes of cars. I see it too, (the yellow car). Pretty mountains, it best represents the track and area.

I'm taking a look at the PP ratings of cars in the screenshots of 1.49. Assuming that the cars shown in the update details are bone stock, it seems that most, if not all cars will get their PP values increased.

I hope that the events' opponents will have their performance adjusted to compensate for this seemingly across the board PP increase. There are already some AI opponents clearly running over the PP limit and requiring players to go well over the "recommended" PP for the races (see: Gallo's Giulia, Serrano's C8, etc..). If the AI opponents aren't adjusted, these races are going to be even more of a PITA to clear.

If you do a high-speed spin the tires will usually go red, but that's the only time I've ever seen that, not even with IMs/Ws on a dry track which should be a slam dunk. This also implies that the icons are showing surface temperature, but what I've seen from the tire temperature widget some people have used is that carcass/inside temperature is tracked separately (but not shown to the player at all).

And that needs to change IMO. Tire temp/management is an engaging and fun aspect of racing...

that's nothing, there are menu books requiring cars you would only get through invites. I play this since launch day and I never got any invite for Bugatti and Aston Martin.
I wish I could give you my Aston Martin invites. I've gotten like 7 or 8 of them and like twice for other brands
