I really don't get this logic that you can't critique something if it's free. Why does a monetary value affect the subjective or sometimes objective observations of the content? It's irrelevant how much you paid for it, just like some people get the game itself for free as a gift, they can still critique it.

Nobody has to be grateful and only positive for things they get for free.

I remember using the skyline in GT2 when I was like 7. I never watched those race cars are they're beyond my years. Could someone share a YouTube video or website describing its participation? Also, what are group 5 race cars?

Thanks!

I will preface this by saying I'm quite looking forward to the content, and am entirely open to the possibility that there'll be a track (okay, 50:50 on this) and some more critical issues addressed...

... but dog **** off the pavement is free. And, on a similar basis, the v1.07 update which took the game offline for 34 hours was free. You don't have to be totally okay with something because you didn't have to pay for it.

Also, what are group 5 race cars?
Well... it applies to several distinct eras, but the ones people remember best are the last, and were essentially silhouette saloon car (well, and coupe) racers with ludicrously wide bodies, giant rear wings, HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE splitters, and about 500hp.

Barely used that Skyline in the GT2 days, used once IIRC, because it was massively overshadowed by cars like the Escudo, GT-One, Cultus, and other more extreme cars. I remember to also use the Lotus Elise GT-1 a lot.
Gran Turismo 2 was such a unique experience for the age it was released. It's still a game of the franchise that has a looooot of cars that have not appeared in any other Gran Turismo. The Venturis and Vectors as well. Damn, good times.

The car I most definitely am anticipating the most of these 3 is the 918 Spyder though. Hopefully its available to buy from the get-go and you don't need an invite... ... Which I already have from the ticket glitch anyway :D
It's pretty much the potentially fastest supercar in the game.

And last but not least, it's one of the 3 masterpiece cars that was released in 2013/2014. Hopefully the regular P1 joins the party in a later update to complete the trio. Peeps will flood the internet with Holy Trinity scapes for sure.

This track please.

I’m pretty sure new track/layout will be in this month. We still don’t know the track for round 7 of the Toyota GT cup. The event will be on 28th August. If they do release new tracks next month, which will probably be late August, there will only be less than 3-4 days between patch release and the event. So yeah that’s what I think I might be wrong idk.

I’m predicting the new track will be Road Atlanta btw.

It wouldn't be unprecedented. We've had either a car or track required for a GTWS race two days before once.

I'm 50/50 between Road Atlanta and Grand Valley. Would prefer the latter, tbh.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but we knew the Glen was coming around the same time we got the silhouette post, so I highly doubt we’ll be seeing a new track. On another note, Anyone who’s posting complaints such as “oh great only 3 more cars why aren’t they adding more races and fixing things” I found it pretty obvious by now that they don’t tease or tell us ahead of time that they’re adding new events or fixing anything wrong. More than a few patches have added at least 1 new event (not saying that’s enough), and they wouldn’t advertise to the world that they’re fixing their games shortcomings and problems as a major feature to a patch. Take that into a account and teasing the only true new things to the game (the cars) is always how it’s gonna be, and you shouldn’t get worked up over anything but disliking the choice of cars as you have no idea what’s actually coming besides said new cars.

No it isn't. The costs are covered by the purchase of the game. They are part of what you bought. It's content you haven't received yet, but you paid for it.
I don’t know but I thought these Updates ARE actually Free Updates, as I didn’t know or knew beforehand what the Updates include which would mean they were promised/said to be in the Game but weren’t.
So what exactly is it I’ve bought?!
Is there some List available which you own where I can see exactly what I’ve bought?!

So I actually know what is coming and what to expect.
Otherwise it’s Free content for my Understanding as I haven’t read anything about it.
Would be nice if you could provide the Info Sheet 🙂

In GT2 it was closer in performance to the GT300 cars than the GT500 and GT1's. Although the GT300 and GT500's in GT2 were not accurately spec'd at all. But it wouldn't and shouldn't ever be in the same categrory as a GT-One, Elise GT-1 or other similar cars.

If the Skyline goes into any group it'd be 3 or 4. I suppose BoPing it to Gr.4 should be possible for PD.

But honestly I expect them to just add it like any other vintage racing car that just sits around useable for either one-make races or custom BoP lobby races with other, similar, cars of that era... oh wait, there are none! :dunce:

The usual suspects will probably identify themselves.

1) that's just the silhouette for 3 cars, it says nothing about additionnal events and other fixes and it rarely does. Stop jumping to conclusions when you are rarely if ever right in your predictions
2) of course those additional cars were planned long before the release. Do you believe they come to GTP, read about how unhappy you are about some models being absent and decide to model, balance and integrate them for the next month? We've litteraly seen articles on GTP about PD scanning the cars years before they pop in the game. Like every IT firm, they have a release catalog that they try to respect for any new feature and content.

Rant over.
That being said, I wonder where the R30 will land, could it really compete in gr3?

Truth be told I fear them adding new events if the recent Gr1 and VGT events are anything to go by. A race where you have to exploit them and use broken cars because the AI boost is essentially unbeatable unless you're a god is completely worthless to me - I get as much value out of that as I would if they added nothing at all.

I just want some decently fair events (with no stupid half-track rolling start) and ideally for them to make it so custom race AI stop slowing down to let us win, and make it so they know how to use the damn throttle properly. Still makes no sense to me they have a "custom" race setting and yet you cant disable one of the most game changing features, the AI slowdown.

The update is "free" in the sense that you aren't paying to get it, but it isn't "free" in the sense that it hasn't already been paid for. Sony is not offering updates out of it's own pocket as a good will gesture to people who have bought the game. The updates are part of the game budget, and in part, are funded by the purchase of the game. When that pool of budget money runs dry, the updates will as well. If the game had sold super poorly, we'd see an end to content updates sooner rather than later.

As for what the content of the updates will be, I don't know, but it's fair to say we'll continue to see three cars per update for the next few, then the content will taper off, just as with GTSport. The content updates for GTS ended a long long time ago even if the version updates and bug fixes continued.

It shows more and more with every update, that they don't read people comments (or just don't care). They seem to have a pool of extra cars ready, which they probably pulled out of the finished game and just drip feed them to people over the months. 3 cars per month? Wow!
Correct, because it takes several months for each car to be completed from start to finish. The planning for these cars had to have taken place years ago in terms of securing the license from the manufacturer, then obtaining all reference material, then scheduling it, then sending all the material off to the outsource company, reviewing each car for errors, having errors fixed, then implementation, etc, etc, etc.

It's literally an impossibility for us to make a comment now and have it happen in game.
They don't seem to be doing anything in the background at all. The game has not changed since the release. Economy is broken. There are hardly any events. Game has plenty of useless cars which we can't race anywhere. They don't add any real content. There is less and less to do in the game, as many people slowly going through all the content and there is nothing new added at all.

The game needs more races, events, championships. After that the game needs a lot of new road cars, so people can modify them, make liveries for them, race them and enjoy. What's the point adding fake VGT cars which you can't tune or modify in any way. I'm getting more and more annoyed with every update.
Again, to my point, this is all planned content from before the game launch. This isn't a reaction to what we are saying now. We will likely see some events added as well, and hopefully, they are worth playing.

Despite my critique in General Discussion, I do look forward to the Skyline. It was one of my favorites in GT2.

Unless event selection changes, I suspect I'll be using it to turn laps at Le Sarthe WTC 700, providing it'll meet the rules.

I wish we would get some more used cars too at the dealership - many more to be accurate - and we need some type of extension or enhancement of the Collector Points level to be coupled with lucrative and [rare] in game bonuses for incentive, no? Hitting level 50 and adding on useless points thereafter (apparently for no reason) doesn't make much sense unless they are working on something to apply these (collected) points to afterwards. I mean there has to be something beyond reaching 50 and forever adding on points to no avail... right?

I also wish we would get some of the old GT4 Race cars back to purchase in the "Legends" area. I know they'd be expensive but would love to see these cars in their fully rendered glory, like the old Chevrolet Camaro LM Race Car, RX-7 LM, all of the old JGTC cars with their great liveries -- ALL of the old LMP1&2 cars like the Pescarolos, the Pagani, Panoz, all Audis, BMW V12, Alpine, Bentley Speed 8, and of course the 88C-V and TS020 to name a few. And oh I wish we could get some of the old tracks back like Apricot Hill, Grand Valley, and Seattle. Why is Silverstone absent?

On another damper note sort of speak there appears to be a glitch that continues to persist around the brake calipers. When I create a style lately and bring it to the floor to share -- yes you guessed it -- the brake calipers magically turn a different colour.
Like the calipers on my RS which have suddenly turn blue when ready to share :boggled:

Calipers should not be blue when sharing style >>
