GT7 on PS5 passed 300k in Japan the other week, latest figure is 304,020

I believe it's the first PS5 title to pass 300k in Japan.

No PS4 data, other than there being a 53:47 split in PS5's favour at launch.

PS5 sales jumped 75% in the UK with an unofficial Gran Turismo 7 bundle being part of the promotion.

‘The Standard PS5 console was the biggest winner with sales up 205% in units and 162% in revenue (average selling price went from £491 to £421). This version of the console accounted for 73% of sales. The price cut played a big part in that, but GfK says that unofficial retail bundles featuring , LEGO Star Wars and Gran Turismo 7 were also popular.’

All that relative numbers. I would be interested in total GT7 sales world wide. I think they are ok but not massive. Hope they go strong until next year and we hear something about a PS5 exclusive GT8 by the end of 2024 (news, not release ;-)).

GT7 has consistently been in the upper reaches of the PS5 charts since launch, be it PSN or retailers like Amazon.

Back in May Guerrilla announced HFW had sold 8.4m copies.

GT7 has been on par, if not slightly ahead, in most worldwide charts since release.

If GT7 has already sold well over 8 million units that seems like something to make well known. I assume that would put it on pace to become the highest selling in the series since GT5 and would look good for the series if the sales numbers were public. Maybe GT7 has actually sold that much but such a low percentage of people play online PD and or Sony don't like the ratio, so exact sales figures aren't known publicly, but honestly my guess is whatever the total sales are, it is less than what the important people predicted.

The PS5 price reduction and bundles in action.

'Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is at No. 25 with a 345% increase in sales, Gran Turismo 7 is at No.21 with a 237% improvement, and Forspoken is at No.34 with a 84% rise in sales. All three games were included by retailers in various PS5 bundles, which coincided with the console's first temporary price drop last week.'

The PS5 price reduction & bundling is seeing PS5 games dominate the charts.

‘God of War: Ragnarok climbed from No. 13 to No. 6 following a 79% increase in sales, while Spider-Man: Miles Morales jumped from No. 25 to No. 7 with a 113% rise. Gran Turismo 7 moved from No. 21 to No. 8 with a 114% sales increase.’

GT7 has now sold 329,261 physical copies on PS5 in Japan.

No news on digital sales, but like the West, the digital share in Japan is now well into double digits.

No news on PS4 sales also. All we know is the PS5 vs PS4 sales split was 53:47 during launch week with total sales of 137,364.

Put all that together and GT7 has likely passed 500k sales in Japan.

Some PS5 comparisons:

[PS5] Gran Turismo 7 – 2,113 / 329,261

[PS5] Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales – 1,859 / 101,544

[PS5] Final Fantasy XVI – 1,856 / 412,895

It's worth noting that, despite good hardware sales, PS5 software just doesn't sell at all well in Japan for whatever reason (there's no other game besides FFXVI and GT7 over even 200k physical). So GT7 still having legs there 18 months in is both a) impressive and b) kind of odd.

PSN Best Sellers for August.

The movie and a PSN sale doing it's job to push GT7 sales.
