Hey, I've been away from the game for a while, and I got the January update. But I don't see the new cars anywhere. Aren't they usually available right when the update happens? Am I missing something? Any help appreciated! :)

Bulgari Aluminium Vision Gran Turismo – Brand Central – 1,000,000cr*
Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo – Brand Central – 1,000,000cr
Suzuki Jimny XC ’18 – Brand Central – 18,000cr

With all three being brand new, modern cars, it’s no surprise to see that they’ll all be available in Brand Central — although there is one tiny catch.

That comes in the shape of the Bulgari car. Brand Central is where it will eventually end up, at an unspecified date in around a month’s time, but you won’t find it there for now. In fact the only way you’ll have access to the car is if you’ve bought a $4,800 wrist watch…

It is not free, at least for those who bought the game from the release with full price, every update and more should have been included in the release because PD claimed this would be the come back to GT game's roots or whatever, they are just making up for false advertising.
How is it not free? When I bought the game (pre-ordered or as you say "from the release with full price"), I paid for what was released. I have not paid for anything added to the game since. Does that not make all of the updates free?

If today was release day, and it came with everything added via updates in it, would you then be satisfied? Or would you then complain about all the things that are still not in it?

I did go back to its roots. We have events that a class (PP) based and a choice to do which ever ones we want within the framework of the game. They also did not promise us almost monthly free updates.

Also, a customer defending a company is so weird, the entity is not your friend, if their products are good, people buy them to support and that's it, if they ****ed up their product, people are within their rights to complain and maybe sue them if the faulty product is bad enough.
I am not defending PD. I am just saying I know what I paid for. If it was such an issue, I would have waited for reviews and whatnot before making a purchasing decision.

By your logic, when I buy a television and the next model comes out with some feature mine does not have, I should complain because mine did not come with that feature? And if they do offer the feature via a software update or something (for free), I should complain that it was not included in my older model from the start?

Why would you buy something that does not have what you want or expect in it? I don't understand.....

A Television set would normally have a complete and comprehensive set of functions for you to access content and to connect & utilise playback equipment of your own.

If a modern high spec TV set was launched in the same way as GT7 did, 2 of the advertised 4 HDMI inputs would be disabled, you would be forced to keep the TV to be online or you cannot use it to even watch offline content (i.e Bluray/DVDs), plus you experience an array of UI bugs and oddities with the picture quality.

A month later, an update is forced upon you, now you have 3 or the 4 HDMI inputs enabled, and you a new set of screensavers that are automatically loaded onto your TV. They also revised the colour and size of the font in the TV system menu

6 months later, the latest updates (with a new screensaver thrown in lucky you) somehow causes your TV to exhibit slow down or frame rate issues when viewing in 4K.

1 month follows, with some bug fixes that updates the font on the menu system, and a shortcut to some 3rd party streaming platform you don't want. Your 4K frame rate issue is still present ...

...You wait a long 1.5 months, you vent about how slow & arrogant the manufacturer has approached with the support of the TV set on the forums, you vent on the youtube comment section, you read vlog/blogs that document the on-going faults of the TV set. Then eventually, the TV manufacturer launches a bloated 2GB update with more screensavers, shortcuts to 3rd party streaming apps, and a fix for the frame rate issue ... the release notes blames the end-customer for using certain brands of Bluray player.

12 months later, someone shares with the internet how to enable 4/4 HDMI ports through a secret menu access. Your TV manufacturer within 24 hours issues a firmware update to prevent that from happening ...

Thanks very much. I think maybe I jumped the gun on the maintenance period or something. I didn't even see the red dots for new stuff when I first looked. Now all I need is a $5000 watch, and I'm good to go! :)

No big thing with the Bvlgari. It will be available for 1 mio Credits in February.
It’s funny to read all the hate against VGT cars and then people crying again when a VGT isn’t up on purchase for a couple of weeks.
I don’t think people are crying because it’s not available because they probably wouldn’t buy it anyway. I think people have a right to complain when PD state there’s three cars coming in an update only to find that it’s actually only two cars because one isn’t coming until next month

I have gotten a chance to check out the update but it looks good especially the XJ220 engine swap. I have been waiting for that for awhile I bought extra cars just for this. I like the price of the Suzuki I can buy a bunch of them and I can't wait to drive the Genesis VGT

This is the core issue (not with this particular update, which is disappointing for most people, but in general with updates): There isn't a set of cars that "people want", because there's so many different groups of people playing the game who want different things from it. For every person who wants all the new GT3 cars, there's a different person who want classic GT1s, and there's a different person who wants all the BMW Ms, and there's a different person who wants all the Skylines back, and there's a different person who loves the meme cars and wants more of them. And so on and so forth.

The community is not a hivemind who want certain specific cars, and I have no idea how PD can cater to all the different groups of the playerbase.
There are cars that definitely stand out when it comes to wishlists, as they show up nearly everywhere though.

Of all those examples you gave, one stands out, the meme cars. First, before those cars were released, no one thought of them as good additions. Second even if the idea of "meme car" came from the community (which it didn't), players would think of other things to add instead of a Jimny or Alphard. Things like a Batmobile, KITT for example. Or the Ariel Atom for the Clarkson meme.

Then you have the "quirky" cars, which can be almost anything. From a pace car, to an RS6 Avant, to a LCC Rocket, Lotus Carlton, etc. If you want a quirky van, most players would go for one of the fast Transits or the Espace F1.
Want an ambulance? Most players would rather have the F1 medical vehicles like the C55 AMG, one of the C63 AMG (all of these are wagons), the DBX-707 (fast SUV), or the MotoGP M3 Touring Safety Car. Any of these could do the job as "the ambulance of GT7". Even the EVO 9MR Wagon safety car from the Ebisu circuit could do the trick. The livery editor does the "ambulancing".
And as SUVs go, people asking for any of them, surely didn't have the Jimny in their mind, with plenty of fast SUVs on the market to choose from. Another example of PD doing the opposite of what the fanbase asks.

I agree, that it's hard to please everyone, but atleast you should make an effort. PD saw the great reception that the Spec II cars got. Did they look at it and thought "Great, they loved all the cars in the update! Let's not do that again!"?

It's not that hard to figure out what to prioritise. BMW M's? Start with any M5, the new M4 CSL, the M8 Competition (the closest thing BMW has to a supercar). AMG? AMG One, SL65 Black Series (or any SL AMG), SLS Black Series, any E63 AMG, a more modern A45/CLA45... The GT3 roster needs some updates? 488 GT3, Vantage GT3, Continental GT3, C8 Corvette GT3... They could complete the roster of 2019 DTM cars, by just adding two others (the BMW and the Aston). Prioritising is the key here. It's just sometimes PD chooses to steer away from what's requested, and adds something completely different.

Fully tuned Jimny is actually pretty cool to drive and also the Toyota ae86 with the new MR2 engine swap is pretty good fun. Yes only 2 new cars but I'm having fun making some others myself. Now can I justify the lfa engine in the Alphard.....

So again no true Endurance Races,it can’t be that hard to integrate them as they have already had a full 24 hrs Le Mans in previous games. Also when will they use the options at the top of the Pit Screen, they have been there since the game launched?

I think people get there hopes up because PD adds the audi dtm so people rightly or wrongly assume that the aston martin and bmw dtm cars must be on their way too and when it doesn’t happen they get frustrated. It’s the lack of communication from PD that doesn’t help.

Yo, PD! WhERe CAr!?

While true, its unlocking is more likely to come at the same time as a February update. The Ferrari VGT situation was a bit different - the exact general unlock date was revealed in the mid-December update hype/launch notes, and the "exclusive" period (which really wasn't all that exclusive) was one week. This time, it's a vague "end-of-February" date, and if that means the last Thursday of the month, the "exclusive" period will be 4 weeks.
Was this referring to the fact the Ferrari VGT could be won from tickets?

I love your analogy!

Using that, if the previous set had the same issues, you would reasonably expect the same to happen with the newer television.

When GT Sport launched, the interwebs were all upset because it did not have the "old school" GT content such as class races included. It was online only. They did not promise or advertise anything different. After the uproar, they shoehorned in the races trying to placate the rioting masses who purchased a game that was by design online only.

Now we have GT7. It came with what they advertised. We bought it anyway. People complained about what was not in the game and PD has once again tried to placate the masses. Maybe if we would stop complaining, they would have the time to implement all of the things they want us to have instead of wasting time to shoehorn stuff in that we keep complaining about.

Biggest difference with ACC: they got official GTWC licence and they don't scan those cars , they build them from scratch instead thats faster than any scan - there arent many games that scan cars because it requires alot of work to make it into a game model thus much slower
Yeah I would imagine Kunos have mountains more manufacturer provided data on each of the limited number of cars in ACC than PD have on the hundreds in GT7, but that's kind of the nature of the beast when it comes to simulating homologated racecars, all the real ones belong to customers who for the most part use them constantly. Street car manufacturers generally have a bunch of their cars lying about for testing.

I havent turned on my PS5 since last night, so I have nothing to add other than I wonder how this change will effect the rain races:
2. Physics Simulation Model
 - Adjusted the stability of rival cars in wet conditions.

Tokyo 600:
Gallo was around 5 seconds faster in his first lap than I remember him to ever be (now was 2.17.x, before I do only remember around 2.22.x)
Also it seems his car now uses less fuel, but this also means he is slower for even more weight in that fat NSX.
The GTR has moved up as the more consistent opponent on the track now, if one is using a competitive car.

Tried the Genesis VGT in the Monza VGT race and man what a beast! It’s pretty poor on the brakes but its acceleration is unreal!
Tried the Time Trial in Sport mode...it's fast but man the brakes suck and the tires for the TT are terrible

Really ? 😅

You have be at least a bit coherent, you explain that PD did something to appease their fans following the upset, then you say that if people did not complain it would have been better ?

wtf GIF
No. Basically, I said if they would ignore us and do what they wanted to do, maybe we would have the game they want us to have.
Instead, they spend time and resources trying to appease the masses thus putting whatever they had planned on the back burner.

Is that coherent enough?
