First, I apologize for my conduct yesterday. I was cranky and I'll attempt to do better today.
At this point for me it’s literally better to NOT have an update rather that getting more of these ridiculous useless VGT cars.
A couple questions on this:
  • I assume this update came at no cost to you. Is that correct?
  • Are you forced to use "useless VGT cars?"
  • Related, does useless mean you cannot use them anywhere other than either a time trial or custom race? Does the new VGT championship count as a place a VGT could be of use?
I'm asking the above to make sure I understand you accurately.

While free works in everyone's budget, the complaints about updates that come at zero cost to the consumer can come across as entitlement. There are several vocal individuals on this forum who are not a fan of the Vision GT cars . . . and that's ok! Other than the new VGT championship I cannot recall a time where a VGT was forced on the user. I'm certain there is a time trial I'm forgetting; I'll freely admit that.

Others, myself included, love show cars and view the Vision GT cars in a similar vein. While I'm not saying this makes the VGTs of use to you, hopefully you can understand there are others with a different opinion.

The Gran Turismo team tries to cater to as many of us as they can, and we all have different tastes. So while this update may not be your favorite, hopefully you can appreciate they are trying to appeal to all of us, one bit at a time.

Is that something we can agree on?

No. Basically, I said if they would ignore us and do what they wanted to do, maybe we would have the game they want us to have.
Instead, they spend time and resources trying to appease the masses thus putting whatever they had planned on the back burner.
And you have proofs to back this claim or it is just a feeling you have ?

From what I've seen, they delivered the game they wanted, and when player base burried them under a high pile of poo (hello Metacritics, you remember ?), they do a few gestures to ease the pain and pretend they've listened, hoping that the players will buy their next product and until then that players will continue to use their game.

I'll need more than your opinion to believe that the situation would have been better if player base said nothing.

It is not as if what they are delivering in most updates is made to please player base.

Can anyone paint their new Genesis and make the paintjob stick?

Nope, made a sick design and it just doesn't keep it. Preview of the design and in top in the bar it just shows the plain Orange one.

I NEED to adjust it for time trial purposes 😱😨

I do not have any proof, only my opinion.
You are right, they were buried at launch, but was it deserved? I don't know the answer to that. All I know is I was happy with the game I paid for.
Sure, maybe if I had more time to play, I would be upset at not having everything I wanted in the game. The way the game was at launch was fine with me. There are already so m any things to do in the game that I personally do not care about what they add. I am happy with whatever they do.

If I was that worried about what is and is not included, I would find a way to create my game to appease me.

People are going to buy Gran Turismo no matter what.

What conduct? :)
Oh, I was HAWT about the update flaming . . . but this time I didn't hold it all in.

I blame the fact I didn't get my vitamins the day before. Or perhaps I had too much Fireball. Or not enough. Something like that . . .

I havent turned on my PS5 since last night, so I have nothing to add other than I wonder how this change will effect the rain races:
2. Physics Simulation Model
 - Adjusted the stability of rival cars in wet conditions.
I envisage that the bot cars will now be able to perfectly control their cars at 300+ kmph, on comfort tires while in torrential rain, while we still hydroplane at 80kmph on racing hards as soon as the rain starts.

Thanks PD!

My first impressions of the new cars:

1.- Jimny: slow but fun, also the races on dirt ans snow are more challenging than what expected
2.- Genesis VGT: decent power, good handling, poor braking. Can easily be a real life hypercar, I would put it in the middle point between the 918 spyder and the Chiron

While I agree that the contents of one mediocre update aren't going to materially harm future sales or anything, I don't think this is true in general. The racing game genre isn't big enough anymore to have a name that's "too big to fail" - look at Forza's sales figures or lack thereof for proof of that.

ok

Well, the fact that you are perfectly happy with the game at launch apparently did not stop thousands of players to complain, and as a result you got a better experience too.

And in general, the customers complaining about issues they have with a product is a way to sway the producer to improve the product. If nobody complains, it will not change for the better by magic.

To be clear, the current update does not affect me much. It does not solve many issues I have with the game, but I'll still find a way to enjoy the game anyway.

Tokyo 600:
Gallo was around 5 seconds faster in his first lap than I remember him to ever be (now was 2.17.x, before I do only remember around 2.22.x)
Also it seems his car now uses less fuel, but this also means he is slower for even more weight in that fat NSX.
The GTR has moved up as the more consistent opponent on the track now, if one is using a competitive car.
Are they running any faster overall race times, though? I think the fastest I ever saw was a 27:15 from Kokubun.

Anyway, I wonder how that will make the other rain races. Maybe they will be more competitive or even downright impossible, like the SF Fuji race or the Neoclassic race at RBR. Yikes, the Human Comedy mission at Tsukuba could be a real tough race now. It was already a tough one, but if the AI is faster in the rain...

I'd say that in VGT terms, it sits between the Aston Martin DP-100 and the Mercedes AMG Racing Series VGT in terms of lap pace, stock vs stock.

The Showcase and My Page on the GT website don't seem to be loading for me. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Yes same problem here

Just checked and ingame is working fine.

There are already 14 pages of liveries for the Jimny 😂 and 2 pages for the Genesis even though due the bug several of them are showing the default color/livery🤭

For the Bvlgari just found an scape from someone in Indonesia or Singapore (not sure as I am not a flag expert🤣) but well, he can brag of being the real VIP🤭🤭🤭

For me it's a rather disappointing update. I don't like VGTs much, so probably won't drive the Genesis a lot.
And while I don't have a problem with the Jimny per se I would have preferred the 1.5 liter version with better tuning potential. As it is I guess I will drive it around Nordschleife once and then forget about it.

New engine swaps: The Raptor and maybe the Jag, the rest also doesn't sound very appealing IMO.

Something tells me these VGT cars are what's paying for all these free updates... Or I'm wrong and the money these companies are paying to get their designs put in the game are negligible.

Either way I don't see VGTs as part of the game, but part of the marketing piece of media Gran Turismo has become. I don't care. If they're cool they're cool, if not, shrug.

Erm... That's how it would happen in real life (within reason). Racing slicks are completely smooth. A comfort hard tyre has rain channels and grooves to disperse standing water...

Just sayin...

How very mature. You're sure you want to post on this board?

Was this referring to the fact the Ferrari VGT could be won from tickets?
The "exclusive" part of the Ferrari VGT run was from watching one of the November 2022 GTWS streams via the in-game link.

It’s a glitch. Someone else has claimed two Genesis VGT.

For those that dislike VGTs, those who feel like PD’s resources are being sacrificed, if you’re a car lover, you’ve got to appreciate the process.

Oh, so it's a glitch in this update.. But a nice glitch btw.. :D

I agree this update is trash vehicle wise but the engine swaps are pretty good this time plus we got double the usual amount.
The incessant complaining before we even see the patch notes has got to stop though. All we ever know are the cars before we see a trailer. All we get from a trailer is what cars and if there is a track.

I am happy enough that we get updates at all.

I havent spent enough time ingame to really answer this question, but from the 3 runs today the difference doesnt seem to be any kind of noticeable in the long run.
In the end, the track is pretty much dry on the AI line mid-lap 2 and only the first lap is really slowing them down.

They made a supecar with brakes of a Kei car!!!!! 🤡 :banghead:
you can't even use the distance signs on the side of the track to set your braking point, you have to begin braking even before seing them 😁

My livery got straight up erased. Never applied it and it’s not in my design list.
Seriously…how does PD continue to screw these things up?

Not a rant, just my perspective as a car lover; I love cars enough to exhale gasoline out of my nose.

You have a point. I do appreciate the process, but the effort and resources are still being sacrificed. I don't dislike VGTs, but they're really nothing more than "what if" scenarios of 0% possibility.
Even the un-popular Honda Super GT HSV is cooler than any of the VGTs; although never see public street, but it did went racing in real life.
PD has a huge roster of legendary race tracks and vast 3D scan library of old cars they worked on. I don't understand why investing resource into new imaginary stuffs from scratch, and not at their own library of cool stuffs they already have in their collection just waiting to be completed?
Or did they just jumped into a new platform that is now incompatible with everything they have in the past, so that everything has to start from scratch? 🤷‍♂️

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:
