On which day do we expect the update ?
So, the way this works is Kazunori planted a tracker on me back in Paris in 2019 which somehow syncs to my calendar. When I am either as far away from my desk as I can possibly be or am about to be as far away from my desk as I can possibly be, he announces something or something else major happens.

This week I only have one appointment, which will see me about 80 miles from my keyboard and out of the house for about 3hr30 or so. It's on Wednesday. So that's when it'll be.

Rather than saying this isn't a numbered game, it seems more like this is what we should expect from numbered games in this series. It's been over 8 years since the previous numbered game. Why should we expect a return to that many more years from now, if/when GT8 releases? GT7 was the promised return and it didn't deliver.

This is the standard they have set.
This is really not a true numbered game because we are slowly being drip fed with content from previous games, and really this slowly drip fed should not not occur in a numbered game. All it is a GT Sport type game with content from previous numbered games slowly being DRIP FED in.

We have to wait until the released of GT8 to have all cars at the start of a game, unlike GT7 we get drip fed with content over many many months of the life of the game. This company called PD is absolutely doing things wrong on how they are treating their loyal fans for GT7, but it is really called GT Sport 2 game, with slowly being drip fed with content over many months time from previous numbered games is despicable company.

The fact that we can’t change tracks tells me the game has problems loading up two versions of the same track for the same lobby. I’m not sure if PS4/5 players are even able to play together in sport mode yet either.
It's just a command send from the host to the clients. It's no different than sending the command to different generations of a PS4. The host doesn't know what the level of detail is for the client.
Overall cross gen in GT7 is going exactly how I expected given my experience with other cross gen games. If they focused on PS5, then there is no doubt in my mind that the game would have mroe features and content right now.
The difference between the games are renderer options and load time. It's the same engine. The dude(s) that handles the rendering engine is in no way the same dudes that make content.

I imagine titles like GT5 Prologue must have been very difficult for you. Numbered yet not quite numbered.

My money is on us never seeing a traditional numbered (to your definition) Gran Turismo game ever again

Looking at the real world pikes peak earlier today, and given that it has 40 football fields worth of elevation and given that this current game has about one ten foot basketball goals worth of elevation, I am concluding that this track is a mere fantasy come Thursday. Not going to happen. WTC 800 or nothing come thursday. About to be a bust.

Well that is certainly....a take. Why would the elevation stop it coming? There always has to be a first. Might as well say it's a fantasy because it's P2P and GT7 currently has none of those either.

Also, your choice of elevation measurements are rather curious. How many toasters in elevation is Pikes Peak? What about Empire State Buildings?

You can wait until GT 8 but they will still drip feed content. That's what game companies do nowadays. They have dripfed content since GT5 and I don't believe they're going to change

I like Gt7 the way it is. Who's coming with me?

I am just curious as to what is really people's big issue with this game? Lobbies need fixing that I can agree with. But after that what is the big issue?

GTS had its issues too, yet people were playing it until the end. Could it just be that people got hyped up too much and/or expected too much from GT7? Is it the lack of communication from PD? The long time the game was down and that incident still in the back of the minds of people?

At this point I feel like PD could do so many things and many are still going to be unhappy. Go figure 🤷 I feel like people just getting on the bandwagon and on with the bashing. Some of the criticism is ok but some of it is just unjustified and overexaggerated.

At the moment sport mode is just fine, ofc the penalty system could use some tweaks, the bigger issue is bop & MR cars handling (Gr3 & gr4 especially). I will say making daily race A no DR & SR race was a good choice. In general sport mode is ok, same as in GTS though, lack of variety mostly, at least daily race b & c especially. GTWS/FIA races still good imo. I have had no glitches/game crashing in sport mode past 1,5-2 months.

Lobbies are inconsistent & crazy that we still cannot change the settings while in the lobby. Lots of glitches and what not. The league I race in on Wednesdays, two races per night. Race 1 is usually plenty of lag/this weird stuttering. For some reason race 2 is just fine all the time. So lobbies do have races that run just fine, but many times it doesn't.

Plenty of cars to buy & modify that is not the big issue with the game. Plus remember boys & girls, there are other games you can play too if you get bored 😎 Just continued my Project Cars 2 career mode yesterday after 1,5 years of a break lol.

I have my doubts about Pikes Peak coming back but I would love to be proven wrong.
  • PD have held the exclusive license since at least 2017. It has to be coming at some point, no point doing that otherwise.
  • The 100th running of the real event is next weekend.
  • They're adding in the most well-known (in GT) Pikes Peak car in the update
  • A scape of the track was used in the promo shots of the Suzuki VGT last month. Tracks in scapes have always been available as a track to drive, eventually.

It all adds up to me.

Not to mention, the update comes right before the actual Pikes Peak hillclimb. :sly:

Considering how different Pikes Peak is from other tracks in the game, I don't see PD adding it in a regular patch without any fanfare.

I would expect it to come in the form of paid DLC separate from the main content of the game like the Hamilton time trials.

True. Kaz would spend years measuring the effect on engine and tire performance of the air pressure lowering as you climb. Plus the change in aerosols as you gain altitude. Clouds hanging at the peak and so on.

@Atremis PD models the effect of the wind on slipstream and dirty air which is air density. They also measured the natural humidity at every track. For Pikes Peak the wind will also be different at the bottom and the top!

My anticipation is at a fevers pitch!! If it doesn’t work out, oh well.

…I’ll just put my frustrations through my liver like always 🤷🏼‍♂️

Fun fact!!!!

One of my main riding buddies who is 70 years old (probably one of the hardest core 70 year old dirt bike riders out there), grew up in Colorado and raced Pikes on KX 500’s well into the 90’s. HIS DAD used to race open-wheelers back in the glory days. He has a picture of his, and other’s cars lined up in staging, waiting to go. The cars in addition to his dad’s, belonged to none other than Bobby Unser and Mario Andretti. I’ll take a snap of the picture next time I ride with him and post it

Second Edit:

If I was in Vegas, I'd be putting a $100 bet on the pass line that Pikes Peak is going to come to fruition on this update. PD purchased the rights to this in 2017-ish, clearly with the foresight of correlating Gran Turismo's 25th anniversary with Pike's Peak's 100 year anniversary. The scapes photo from last update. The Escudo confirmed for this week. Combine that with the probable update drop of Thursday at midnight (west coast time), which is right in line when the press and hype train for an event like Pike's Peak starts picking up steam? Yeah...pretty sure this is going to happen.

This kind of blatant foreshadowing is only outdone by the obligatory Blonde Bimbo in a slasher flick who's about to get her intestines spilled out.... while hundreds of people in movie theatre are shouting at her, yet she's the only one that hasn't figured out thea impending doom that awaits her, mere seconds away. - yeah, something like that

....On third thought, I'm gonna lay down a $10 boxcars bet while I'm at it

:gtpflag:

This all adds up but I have no faith in PD actually putting the track in the game, at best they'll put the Scapes.

But I'll be happy if I'm wrong.

The inherent issue with GT7 is the fact it launched with less stuff to do than GT Sport eventually did. There’s really no acceptable reason for this considering how GT7 was marketed as the culmination of 25 years. PD insists on drip-feeding events that absolutely could have been included from day one, and the consequence was a crippled campaign and not a whole lot of variety in general. This is still the case nearly four months later because the game gets fleshed out at a snail’s pace. Now this wouldn’t be such a big problem if the Custom Race feature was anywhere close to being properly rewarding. This feature already has all the ingredients to be very good, but PD decided to make it very unattractive. Why? Apparently because they are control freaks who will rather encourage micro-transactions than offering a truly enjoyable game.

Sooo, how much anyone wanna bet so many of the people who have "lost hope" with this game will come next month just to repeat the same thing? And before someone responds to me like I just hurt their feelings, you know what I did when Shift 2 had me boiling mad and it felt like it wasn't being fixed or changed? Stopped playing and completely left it, period. No more posts or anything, same for multiple other games that had me similarly irritated with how they went (Nascar the Game 2011 comes to mind). Moral of the story: save your energy and play something else. I don't have this game so obviously I don't have this issue but I guarantee if I was in the same position with this game that I was with those I mentioned, I'd be playing another game by now.
Awesome! Alongside the Demio, what other cars come close to the Top 5 Iconic GT Cars??
My License test PTSD would disagree with this sentence combination.
The staff at PD that models cars and tracks aren’t the same staff that manage the game’s servers and network connectivity.
Its amazing that even in the year 2022, this is a concept that still falls on deaf ears. Then again, the same happens with the concept of tempering expectations so..

Thing is, alot more people know who Lewis Hamilton is even without watching F1 so naturally, any content related to him was gonna command that kind of payed DLC (Just look at the Schumacher edition of F1 2020 or the deluxe edition of F1 2021 and their related content). Driver names tend to command way more attention (especially from a series like F1) then a obscure track or event like Pikes peak, which I guarantee no one outside of the motorsport community knows about so despite this being the 100th anniversary, I don't see that kind of DLC pack happening.

I am not talking about GT5 Prologue, I am talking about a Numbered game but again you don't seem to understand.

People who think GT7 is a numbered game and are waiting for content to come in from previous numbered games, are very thick dim-witted people. GT7 is a incomplete game and the in game content should have been finish and not DRIP FED over time, and that means it's not a numbered game is it.

This game called GT7 is a very poorly designed game with not much thought going into it, at least the previous numbered games had a lot of thought going into the game.
This game called GT7 does not even close to be a numbered game, because your waiting for content from the previous numbered games to come in. Only the dim-witted people think GT7 is a good game.

So exactly the sort of customer base who would fork up cash for a DLC pack?
