What can I say....? This update, like so much from PD lately, is half-hearted and window dressing at best.

Pro:
1 in words ONE, so not 3 or 2... no ONE new route with 2.. so two layouts. I didn't know the track and it seems cool.. Racing on it (with a working penalty system) should be fun.

Apparently you can now calibrate the pedals in the game, I haven't tested it myself because my T-LCM are calibrated.
Apparently positive changes to the lobbies... NO certainly not in terms of their stability etc.. and you probably still can't save the lobby... but hey one of at least 20 urgently needed points.

There was an engine swap ticket for the least amount of effort.. so everyone now has the opportunity to have seen one at least once... Unfortunately, many have already not understood what it is and have built this engine into the car it is made of.. .. Well, you can't expect PD to explain to the players what they have there.

....I can't think of more Pro points right now.

Contra:
A lot has stayed the same... the races still often don't start or you get stuck forever in the warm-up or afterwards in the loading screen for the race.
Three cars that are useless in my eyes.. a HotRod.. great, I'm so happy... a Pikes Peak special car that doesn't really belong in any existing class. And an ugly and hideous sounding Gr3 for my taste. that would never exist because the convertible drives crappy and is also really slow.

The messed up colors of the brake calipers.

Still the same meta vehicles

and many other things that you all know.

This Time Trial uses the Escudo Pikes Peak.

I don't believe either of those two things are the case.

I think you will only get the prize in the appropriate bracket - 250k for Bronze, 1m for Silver, 2m for Gold - and only at the end of the Time Trial.

Edit: Yes, you'll definitely only get the reward once the Time Trial has finished.
Ok, not too bad I guess.

Is there a prize for the world record? Since the gold times are based on the top prize, that guy should receive a bigger reward then?
5 million maybe?

Anyway, did about 15-16 laps and got a 1:37.9 with room for improvement. The Escudo is a really tricky car to drive... It has quite a lot of turbo lag.
Hopefully this time can mantain itself until the number 1 time improves, but from the looks of it, it seems like getting below a 1:35 is impossible.

Anyone have any controller settings tips for the Escudo Time Trial.

Got bronze but feel I can defo manage silver but struggling for grip on the sorts in some corners....

Unless the Escudo is somehow still broken and it still can do 1.000km/h wheelies on Special Stage Route X the only value this car holds is nostalgia.
Don´t get me wrong - love myself some nostalgia, but in my case I will buy the Escudo, drive it once for fun, take two scrapes photos and will most likely never touch it again.

The Glenn though - instant classic.
Well, we all know how it was in the older games dominating on circuits but the clue is in the name on the proper use case for the car. Sadly as we know, Pikes Peak still doesn't exist. If/when it does, it becomes more worthwhile.

I use controller sens. at +10 with the Escudo. 0 aids aside from ABS on factory.

Try to shift as late as possible (without over reving the engine of course, but you can find the limit yourself), the car has massive amounts of Turbo lag so if you shift early, you are losing on a lot of power.

Try to slide a bit on the low speed corners, it's actually a bit faster.

Well well... So far i think the biggest update? But, come on...
  • Menu books - you only have to own some cars? What nonsense is this? Instead of the option to sell cars, we now must buy some new crap that we will never use, just to clutter the garage even more? I actually bought 4 cars to complete 2 tickets, I spent 250k on the RX7, just to recieve some engine that I don't have a place for. Also, I bought 2 Toyotas for like 55k to complete the 4 star ticket, and the reward was 30.000 credits... And I'm missing the 92 NSX that is currently not available for purchase... Jesus...
  • Suzuki Gr3 - absolute horse ****, handles horribly, fuel consumption on LeMans grind is terrible, much worse than any other Gr3 car that I race on that track, and I race almost all of them, daily... And the bonnet view is the worst ever probably.
  • Watkins Glen is good, nice track, good flow, but ruined for a moment with the terrible Genesis circuit experience. Also, the event for WTC800, you get the penalties for track limits, but don't get a clean race bonus if you touch another car. And the payout is sad...

Where the hell are some other events? Why??? Why is there no Monza Gr2 event that pays out 1.5 mil for 1hr race? Why is there no Tsukuba Gr4 event, like the Sardegna, but for WTC630 let's say, that we can race for 30 mins and win 750k? Is that so difficult to create? Probably couple of clicks and save & close. I'm not asking for much I think, I just want to have the perfect 30-ish car garage with the cars that I race all the time, nicely tuned, with amazing custom liveries, and at least 10 events that pay out normally.

But nooo, we get the lime green brake calipers and crappy VGTs...

So now when doing liveries we have to type in the search field each time. It no longer saves the search “term” that was used before placing the decal. Kind of a pain if using custom livery items.
What I do is search for all of the decals I need for the livery before I start and add them to my collection. This saves time in the long run as the decal is there in the livery editor for you to use whenever you need it. I remember once I forgot to download a decal and had to search while making a livery, then when I wanted to apply it to another part of the car I had to go get it again because it doesn't save from that option. I will say it is a nice feature to have though as you don't have to back out of the editor in this situation. Hopefully they add folders for sorting decals as they had in GTS. It's kind of a PITA flipping through pages as you amass more decals.

They never said when, just that it would be in the future.

-----------------------

Can't wait to drive WGI asap. The Six Hour is this weekend so it was a perfect time to drop the track.
Yes the info I saw said that we could sell cars but said nothing about this being in the future. Since the add that I saw came out before the game, I assumed that it would happen right when the game came out.

The biggest feature of the update is by far the new track and the new cars. Watkins Glen is a spectacular track that was sorely missing from Gran Turismo. Having had the ability to race it in other games, PD's version doesn't disappoint. It has bumps at least.

The cars are gonna arrive later so I can't test them now. Might buy the Suzuki for a quick Sardegna race.

I think the low point of the update is that I don't see anything regarding online fixes in it other than stuff that wouldn't address the issues people have been complaining about for a while.

On the other hand, it's not PD's fault players are too dumb to figure out engine swaps exist after months of heated arguments about them.

Anyone who expected important bug fixes is most certainly gonna be disappointed. I can only hope custom lobbies are being saved for a major update.

If PD implemented those features they could, but then you'd likely complain at only getting patches twice a year. It takes time to implement things, they're not miracle workers, they have bugs and other fixes to tackle first.

Why would that have any influence on adding events or simply increasing the payouts of exisiting events? They even added 3 events this update but again with very low to average payouts.

People just don't want to have to grind the same 3 events for months, increasing payouts of existing events would really help that already, even though new ones are desperately needed as well.

Because you have no idea how long it takes them just to add a single event. If they could make a list of what everyone wants and click their fingers and make it appear I'm sure they would. Massive amounts of code goes into a game like this with so many variables and each one has to work without issue. It's no easy feat. It isn't like a linear game with much narrower gameplay boundaries.

Since we can basically create custom events in the game in very few seconds with dynamic (but extremely low) payout, I am sure it can't be that hard for them to implement.

Not to forget simply CHANGING the payout of existing events or having new events, which they added 3 of this update, payout decently.

This ^ 👍

And they already have different categories from past games they can base them on.

They're a team of 300 people, not 3. Different people do different things. There is no excuse for the glacier pace of adding events.

Oh, never seen that detail on those games! Do you remember which cars had that?
I think the Weider HSV-010.

EDIT: No I think it was the Toyota SC430  Some GT500 car at least.

I think when it gets silly is when you have rain only on certain layouts but not on others. I guess the climate just knows to not rain if a race is being held at Dragon Trail Seaside instead of Gardens!
And as everyone knows, it never rains in the Western Hemisphere, EVER.

interesting question for everyone, are you happy or disappointed with this new update? what grade would you give? I am in the idea that the new online time trial system is beautiful
I’m happy about the Favourites being saved in my Garage. I’ve got my top 40 cars and everything else disappeared. Might be better than selling cars, for the moment. I’ll give the grade a B with ‘Needs Improvement’.

The Glen is a good old school circuit.
The cars? Giving them a pass. Not my flavour this month, but many will get use from them. That’s the balance of this game. Some will like them. Some won’t.

Sport Mode is a feature I no longer use. Though, if players are happy with the improvements, that’s less complaining I have to read.:sly:

Watkins is such a fun and technical track!

Was driving it with Gr. 4 Mustang, which fits perfectly to the tighter corners.

You have to do late apex on some corners, to get the exit right.

Hope we see it in daily races on monday. And PLESAE give us update with rain!
