Best update to the game thus far.

PD have done a fantastic job with WG, the track is a firm favorite of mine. Enjoyed playing this on Forza but it feels more narrow than what I remember.

Good to see they have addressed some issues that the community have been pushing for and granted this will not meet everyones expectations or desires it appears that they are moving in the right direction.

New cars (still 3 however)
New track and new to the series (not just a layout)
New events and cafe books (not a large quantity however)
Lobbies improved (how much this has improved as I don't participate I don't know - also should have been fully functional from the get go)
Online challenge now has payouts with what seems to be solid amounts
Pedal sensitivity adjustment
Load ghost option now available (should have been there from the get go)

Still outstanding is the ability to sell cars but I would think that next months update will contain that however I am not going to have any expectations on that.

Looking forward to what else PD has planned for the future.

Well the whole track is obviously ruined by having to suffer from the Genesis Gr.3 in the Circuit Experience for like 5 minutes while being compensated with 1.25mil Cr.

:dunce:
Well I didn't say the whole track is ruined, did I? For me, Genesis is terrible to drive, and I stated just that, it's ruined for a moment, because the track is amazing to drive on, when you drive a good handling car. I don't really care for the 1.25 mil, i have 30+ mil in stock and nothing to spend it on.

Since we can basically create custom events in the game in very few seconds with dynamic (but extremely low) payout, I am sure it can't be that hard for them to implement.

Not to forget simply CHANGING the payout of existing events or having new events, which they added 3 of this update, payout decently.
We've already discovered that changing a few things can cause unexpected bugs (green calipers), so unless you have personal experience as a triple A games developer, everything you're saying is just conjecture. Instead of complaining about the current state of the game, I'd suggest putting it down for a few months and playing something else. It will only get better with time

Ok, so I have done pretty much everything (only missing driving the Ford Roadster). I've completed and won the 3 events on the new Watkins Glen circuit, I've golded the Watkins Glen Circuit Experience, I've "completed" the 3 new Extra menus and I've also done a few runs on the new Time Trial that is also now going to finally reward players according to how fast they are in regards to the fastest player.

Let's start with the new Circuit. I love it!!! Already one of my favourite circuits and it's the first time I've ever driven it on a "sim". Fast flowing, decent corners some with elevation changes and good for racing. And it being a real circuit is a bonus. Big plus for this.
The Circuit Experience for it wasn't particularly difficult, should've been quite a bit more challenging to get gold. But still, a decent 1.2 million payout for it.

The 3 new events... Pretty lackluster... All in all, about half an hour of cotent for the average player even with the AI on hard. And again, races that pay so low that you do them one time and never will grind them again. So we are again stuck with the same 3 races to grind for another month.

The 3 new menus were a huge disappointment. You basically just have to collect cars. As someone who already has all the cars in the game, I basially "completed" these menus in 2 minutes by just clicking X.
The rewards were a mixed bag.

  • A 4 star ticket that gives the same rewards as any other 4 star ticket, in my case, a 10k prize.
  • A Honda NSX Gr. B car, which while the car itself is worth 450k, I already own it and... literally have no use for it. Now I have a duplicate... that I still CAN'T ***** SELL!!!!
  • The engine swap was nice. Finally got my 2nd engine swap in 4 goddamn months, and at least it was a decent one, the one from 2JZ from the Supra RZ. For some people, this was the first engine swap EVER. PD really needs to change the way we get these special car parts. You have dozens of them and will never ever get to experience all of them. It's one of the worst design decisions (not taking into account the ones that involve monitization) I've ever seen.

The Suzuki Gr.3 car is really bad, compared to a lot of the other Gr.3 cars... It's just overall slow and not pleasant to drive. Plus... a duplicate of a VGT. Being good looking only gets you so far.

The Escudo drives as expected of a car with a wing larger than the car itself and with almost 1000 horsepower massively turbocharged, and of course, it has the iconic status in the franchise itself, it was long overdue that we would have this "legend" in full 4k glory.
We got to experience it on the new Time Trial that now pays players if their times are within a certain % above the top time. PD went with 3% for Gold, 5% for Silver and 10% for Bronze. Which IMO is pretty adequate, Gold times should be an actual challenge that only the players that put effort can get them, but at the same time they also shouldn't be next to impossible for 99.99% of players. 3% is well within that margin.
The payouts are also very decent for what is literally a time trial. 2 million for whoever gets Gold, half of that, 1 million for Silver and 1/4 of that, 250k for whoever gets Bronze, which at 10% of the top time, is ridiculously easy to attain.
I just don't know if the top player gets the same 2 million, but if he does, then that IMO is wrong. The entire stats are based on the time of the top 1 player, so his reward should be larger, obviously let alone the fact that it's the top 1 time itself. Can anyone confirm this? If the top 1 player gets a larger prize?

I also noticed some changes were done to the Lobbies, Custom Races and you also now have some of your stats in Sport Mode displayed like the medals you got from the time trials, the top 5 finishes, the wins, the number of races, which are all nice Quality of Life (QoL) changes.
The rotating camera is also a nice addition. It is however useless for me because I use the analog sticks for steering and throttle/brakes... :/
Horns were also added. Not like it's meaningful, at least to me, but, it's not like it impacts the game either... But there are other priorities.
The loading Ghost was also a long time coming... Finally.

Overall, a DECENT update. Not great, not good, nor bad, not horrible just above average. There's also the issue with the Lime Green calipers, but it's minor and PD will certainly have it fixed in the next update.

Can't comment on Wheel settings because I use the Dual Sense...

I can understand, to an extent, the lack of content because it takes a lot of coding and experimenting (people play testing the races themselves to make sure nothing goes wrong) but we should've just had a ton more content at launch than what he had considering how long in development this game was.
Now we are stuck with 1 hour content (or less sometimes) per month... It's just tedium for everyone who isn't a strict Sport Player (who just plays for competition)... Basically, over 90% of all of us who play the game.

This however could've easily been avoidable if PD just raised up the payouts for Sport and Custom Races and thus you could actually grind a lot more different races.
As it stands, you get nothing from both and are stuck with grinding the same old 3 races since what? 3 months now?. You go to a Sport race, facing actual hard players who are on your level and you get like 20k for a win on a 5 lap track???? Not to mention you can only do 3 of these races per hour...

You get paid 300k or so for a 24 hour custom race on the highest category possible... Who the hell is going to be motivated to do either with these kinds of payouts?

And of course... Why the bloody hell is it taking so long for us to SELL CARS!!!! How hard can this be to be implemented!? Got a duplicate of a car I likely will never drive and I have to keep it stuck on my garage. And have a ton of others that I've just bought to get the 100% car collection list, namely VGTs and other Gr. cars that are also just making up the numbers.

PS: Sorry for long test.

How is there being an option to create custom races in the game that gives very low payouts and them having added 3 events this update with low payouts conjecture? Those are actual facts

No, saying they coulda/shoulda added this and that is conjecture because you have no idea the work involved to implement what you want under the timescale you want it.

Ok, not too bad I guess.

Is there a prize for the world record? Since the gold times are based on the top prize, that guy should receive a bigger reward then?
5 million maybe?

Anyway, did about 15-16 laps and got a 1:37.9 with room for improvement. The Escudo is a really tricky car to drive... It has quite a lot of turbo lag.
Hopefully this time can mantain itself until the number 1 time improves, but from the looks of it, it seems like getting below a 1:35 is impossible.

Yeah I predict a low 1.38 ought to hold up. AntonioSK at the top is a fast driver. Did a 1.37.687 myself.

It's to early to know if this is the pattern, but if we do indeed get a new track every 3 months or so, PD should at least add rain weather to a track every other month.

We don't have rain available in any american or british circuit, that's odd. Watkins Glen, Daytona, Interlagos, Brands Hatch, Monza, Barcelona should all receive rain, at least. And a couple of other fictional tracks should too.

While they're at it, it would be nice if they added an extra-dense fog feature at Laguna Seca. Summer mornings at the track there are almost always foggy, and significantly more foggy than any setting currently available in GT7.

360 camera rotation in chase view is great, finally. Can really appreciate the graphics and car models now with free camera rotation. Love Watkins Glenn too.

Simply rise up the payouts for existing events would have been something. And that does definitely not sound like rocket science to me.From one of Sonys flagship developer that is.
Again, you have no idea what work is involved to 'simply' code that change. And they may not even be aware that that change is wanted by the community, nor may it align with their vision of the direction they want the game to go.

It's PD's job. For nearly 3 decades. If they can't simply do their job, and it's arguable whether they can or cannot do their job, then there's no hope of them ever getting things right.

You sure about that?
