I'm not really sure what angle your supporting here, you seem to contradict yourself a bit.code_kev's previous comments were SPOT ON!
Well done, sir. Now you may leave this thread, indefinetly.
Thats what I've been meaning to say in quite a few posts through-out this thread. I mean everybody's got issues, someone has BIG WALLS (lol, thats still funny), so they cant access internet where their PS3 will be and cant buy cars , Some dont have broadband atall, some are too poor to buy virtual cars online, etc etc. I mean I work and earn myself, so I dont mind paying a bit here and there and customize my GT:HD Premium and collect new contents as an when they come. This is very subjective, coz some people may like it, some may not. But what is annoying is trying to persuade people who are convinced that this is a good idea and can actually play a GT5 game as soon as they buy the PS3 within a few months... People who dont like this idea (of paying for new content ever few months) can seriously wait and buy the GT5 as a whole package, when it comes out in 08. It may not have 770 cars, but it'll have plenty of cars and tracks and definetly all the updated features and textures and whatnot.
I am not saying to not raise questions and post comments, but seriously this whining over the "pay over internet" matter is just not ammusing anymore. You guys have made your point, shared ur your financial issues, and blue prints of your homes which are badly planned with "Stone Walls" (lol ) ... And many of us have ignored them and moved on...
I dont mean to be rude at-all or offensive in anyway, its just, reading same comments by same people over and over again is quite dull in an annoying way..
(BTW, I havent read whatever I've read so, if it doesnt make much sense, please ignore)
Edit - Just saw the "mentioned" video and they're definetely not real cars, neither do they seem ingame car models, more like 3d renders for an intro movie or something, or just the trailer to show off Ferrari !
My dad checks his credit card bill religousley (sp?).Well, go steal a credit card and away you go*.
*Don't really do that.
Lamborghini, Lamborghini,
My kingdom for lamborghini!
I remember when I had premium (Thanks Jon :tup), but nothing happened in the premium forum
I am neither supporting or against online downloads. For me, the perfect system would have all the cars included from the start, with new downloads for new cars, tracks and updates that come out after the game has been released (say GT5 gets released in '08 and Nissan come out with a '09 GT-R Z-Tune, it'll become a new available download). And that's a good business strategy from Sonys point of view how? This whole start with nothing concept sucks, royally.

So basically you are intelligent enough to customize your own GTHDremium and not buy every Daihatsu and different Versions of Supras and Evos and Skylines. You can buy the ones right for you? Or are you just too bored to go online and spend money over virtual cars and tracks? Either way you can wait till 2008 (till the actual GT5 "Full Package" comes) and get your Daihatsus and Supras and Skylines etc. and stop saying the same things over and over again..
I am sure if there was no such thing as GTHD and had Kazunori Yamauchi annouced that there will be no GT5 for PS3 till 2009, you would've whined about that aswell. I already am feeling a little deja-vu, of the same thing that I'd read by different people just around the GT4 release. And I know a healthy arguement is always good (and I can see your avatar saying - debater), but whining about the same thing?? Thats neither arguing nor debating, its just whining !
All I mean is, if you see this clearly, this isnt ripping people off, its giving them chance to build a GT game the way they like it. If that is not good enough for you... Just wait! (isnt it simple?), I agree English isnt my first language, but I am sure I am not writing hebrew, specially for a "really increadibly wealthy man" you sure cant seem to understand what I am trying to say here. I am almost doubting, whether what I am saying isnt making any sense surely now..
Well there was this girl on saturday, she did this amazing thing with her ton....You Welsh are never satisfied.
And I don't think anyone on Earth can argue with that.
how much is the actual SKU going to cost? If it's dirt cheap then I wouldnt mind the micro thingies too much. it works decently on xbox live, like the packs for project gotham.
still, it WOULD be nice to have at least a dozen or so of the staple cars to start off with, as well as 2 tracks. Nurb and whatever else is most relevant.
This is nothing more than a test of our gullability.I just thought of something...
This is nothingmore then a test of their network technology.
AmarEDITED: Full facts from Famitsu transcript of interview with Kazunori:
+ Gran Turismo HD: Classic is what adopts the GT:HD playable demo at E3 and meant to showcase the online aspect. A race is done with about 20 cars. Apparently this version starts with no cars or courses. You download a car for 50 - 100 yen (0.43 - 0.85$) and a course for 200 - 500 yen (1.71 - 4.26$). Over 750 cars and 50 tracks are available for purchase. Users can define race events freely and can hold online race events by themselves.
That's what I meant. It'll include it with a pricetag. Okay. I wonder how much of a pricetag they're gonna put on the historics and the older cars.
....why does Sony suck so bad at the online side of consoles? It's like they want to screw things up and make things more complicated than they need to be for no good reason other than to make Xbox Live look better and better.
You have seen the prices of the content didn't you? Not being ripped off would be paying less than 1/750th of the price of GT4 for one car in HD. It's not that the total amount of money we spend, will be less than that of the original GT4. It's the principle that we will be paying much more per car/track. Even for a completely new game this wouldn't be right, let alone a glorified port. Saying it again or not; it's a bleedin' convincing argument.
Speaking of Xbox Live -- I know that you can use a credit card to buy the "points" that have to be used to download extra content for 360 games (although some things are free), but isn't it also possible to earn those same points by playing the games?
From what we've heard so far, GTHD and the PS3 don't seem to have anything similar to that, although it would certainly lessen the blow if they did.
and good news for you ferrari nuts......Kaz says the hope to support damage models at the start of next year. (I assume this means no damage in HD unless there's a later downloadable update)
This damage model will, in theory, affect the visuals, the physics, the drivability, the integrity of the car.
"Implementing damage, the biggest hurdle was obviously dealing with auto manufacturers. The philosophies from manufacturers is starting to gradually change. The best compromise at this point is to model damage to racing cars and not yet to consumer level cars."
and more...They hope to add more cars from the Ferrari line up, including older models, but won't be including Formula 1 models.
What's the purpose of creating a GT5 if you can just download new content to GT:HD Premium?
Kaz: We sell Gran Turismo in over a hundred countries and there will be territories that have not adapted as quickly as the US and Japan to internet service. For that reason we have to have a packaged product (👍).
-> Since this topic opened up and read replies after replies, I don't see on why people are panicking about this "microtransaction" thing. All I can say is this, GT HD is purely a test mule system, I'll be more worried if this was GT5.
Let me ask you this -- if GT5 is going to include all of the cars from the get-go, what would be the point of transferring your GTHD purchases?IGN.comFamitsu also scored commentary from Yamauchi on a variety of Gran Turismo topics. The producer joked that the upcoming GT HD download service would be like iTunes, referring to it as a GT Tunes. He also provided some relief for those worried about the expense of downloading cars and tracks for GT HD. Polyphony hopes to make content that has been downloaded for GT HD available for use in the next GT.
If some GT fan doesn't agree on what PD is doing right now, then theres the door and get Forza 2 or GTR2 or don't buy GT HD altogether.
As far as I am concerned, this is just the tip of the questions and implications iceberg.Kazunori Yamauchi said in an interview that GTHD purchases wouldn't be "wasted," and that all GTHD purchases would transfer over to GT5:
Let me ask you this -- if GT5 is going to include all of the cars from the get-go, what would be the point of transferring your GTHD purchases?
in the end, its not skilled driver who wins, its the richest.
this sucks.big time.
Best case scenario, gt5 comes like GT4 but all your hd cars are in sim mode immediately when you start gt5 like credit/license carryforward. There is wiggle room there to stay away from the sky falling.Let me ask you this -- if GT5 is going to include all of the cars from the get-go, what would be the point of transferring your GTHD purchases?
any capable company wouldn't allow this. You'll have a username type system that you own your downloads on and if you had to you could probably redownload all for free because you do own the license to use all the stuff you paid for.if all of the datas are stored in the hdd, and suddenly ur hdd is corrupted and needs formatting, then do we have to rebuy everything?
👎in the end, its not skilled driver who wins, its the richest.
