Well, go steal a credit card and away you go*.

*Don't really do that.

code_kev's previous comments were SPOT ON!
Well done, sir. Now you may leave this thread, indefinetly.

Thats what I've been meaning to say in quite a few posts through-out this thread. I mean everybody's got issues, someone has BIG WALLS (lol, thats still funny), so they cant access internet where their PS3 will be and cant buy cars , Some dont have broadband atall, some are too poor to buy virtual cars online, etc etc. I mean I work and earn myself, so I dont mind paying a bit here and there and customize my GT:HD Premium and collect new contents as an when they come. This is very subjective, coz some people may like it, some may not. But what is annoying is trying to persuade people who are convinced that this is a good idea and can actually play a GT5 game as soon as they buy the PS3 within a few months... People who dont like this idea (of paying for new content ever few months) can seriously wait and buy the GT5 as a whole package, when it comes out in 08. It may not have 770 cars, but it'll have plenty of cars and tracks and definetly all the updated features and textures and whatnot.
I am not saying to not raise questions and post comments, but seriously this whining over the "pay over internet" matter is just not ammusing anymore. You guys have made your point, shared ur your financial issues, and blue prints of your homes which are badly planned with "Stone Walls" (lol ) ... And many of us have ignored them and moved on...

I dont mean to be rude at-all or offensive in anyway, its just, reading same comments by same people over and over again is quite dull in an annoying way..

(BTW, I havent read whatever I've read so, if it doesnt make much sense, please ignore)

Edit - Just saw the "mentioned" video and they're definetely not real cars, neither do they seem ingame car models, more like 3d renders for an intro movie or something, or just the trailer to show off Ferrari !
I'm not really sure what angle your supporting here, you seem to contradict yourself a bit.

Well, go steal a credit card and away you go*.

*Don't really do that.
My dad checks his credit card bill religousley (sp?).

I remember when I had premium (Thanks Jon :tup), but nothing happened in the premium forum :odd:

[EDIT] Back on topic.

Lamborghini, Lamborghini,
My kingdom for lamborghini!

And that's a good business strategy from Sonys point of view how? This whole start with nothing concept sucks, royally.
I am neither supporting or against online downloads. For me, the perfect system would have all the cars included from the start, with new downloads for new cars, tracks and updates that come out after the game has been released (say GT5 gets released in '08 and Nissan come out with a '09 GT-R Z-Tune, it'll become a new available download).

And I don't think anyone on Earth can argue with that.

So basically you are intelligent enough to customize your own GTHD:Premium and not buy every Daihatsu and different Versions of Supras and Evos and Skylines. You can buy the ones right for you? Or are you just too bored to go online and spend money over virtual cars and tracks? Either way you can wait till 2008 (till the actual GT5 "Full Package" comes) and get your Daihatsus and Supras and Skylines etc. and stop saying the same things over and over again..

I am sure if there was no such thing as GTHD and had Kazunori Yamauchi annouced that there will be no GT5 for PS3 till 2009, you would've whined about that aswell. I already am feeling a little deja-vu, of the same thing that I'd read by different people just around the GT4 release. And I know a healthy arguement is always good (and I can see your avatar saying - debater), but whining about the same thing?? Thats neither arguing nor debating, its just whining :P !

All I mean is, if you see this clearly, this isnt ripping people off, its giving them chance to build a GT game the way they like it.
If that is not good enough for you... Just wait! (isnt it simple?), I agree English isnt my first language, but I am sure I am not writing hebrew, specially for a "really increadibly wealthy man" you sure cant seem to understand what I am trying to say here. I am almost doubting, whether what I am saying isnt making any sense surely now..

You have seen the prices of the content didn't you? Not being ripped off would be paying less than 1/750th of the price of GT4 for one car in HD. It's not that the total amount of money we spend, will be less than that of the original GT4. It's the principle that we will be paying much more per car/track. Even for a completely new game this wouldn't be right, let alone a glorified port. Saying it again or not; it's a bleedin' convincing argument.

You Welsh are never satisfied.
Well there was this girl on saturday, she did this amazing thing with her ton....

Okay, this is goin way off topic.

I'd also like to know how this will affect the WRS. Winning a car to compete is one thing, but buying a car?

how much is the actual SKU going to cost? If it's dirt cheap then I wouldnt mind the micro thingies too much. it works decently on xbox live, like the packs for project gotham.

still, it WOULD be nice to have at least a dozen or so of the staple cars to start off with, as well as 2 tracks. Nurb and whatever else is most relevant.

I just thought of something...

This is nothingmore then a test of their network technology. Since you're going to need a good infrastructure to run something like this. It will allow a great test run before GTV and other mainstream online games come onto the scene. I know there are a few FPS's that are to be released close to the console's release date, but I think this is going to be the biggest test as GT has a much broader fanbase then almost all FPS games.

So, I'm asking just to understand, GT HD classic mode will have the same look as Premium (asking if it will still be in "HD") And it will include all the cars and tracks from GT4 with a pricetag on each rite?

GT:HD Classic will look like a high-res GT4, GT:HD Premium is also high res but it's using more detailed models and textures, like a proper next gen game.

Except cars and tracks...

Amar
EDITED: Full facts from Famitsu transcript of interview with Kazunori:

+ Gran Turismo HD: Classic is what adopts the GT:HD playable demo at E3 and meant to showcase the online aspect. A race is done with about 20 cars. Apparently this version starts with no cars or courses. You download a car for 50 - 100 yen (0.43 - 0.85$) and a course for 200 - 500 yen (1.71 - 4.26$). Over 750 cars and 50 tracks are available for purchase. Users can define race events freely and can hold online race events by themselves.

That's what I meant. It'll include it with a pricetag. Okay. I wonder how much of a pricetag they're gonna put on the historics and the older cars.

Aah, right. I understood "include" to mean "in the box, and part of the price" rather than "compatible, but have to buy it later at additional cost"...

....why does Sony suck so bad at the online side of consoles? It's like they want to screw things up and make things more complicated than they need to be for no good reason other than to make Xbox Live look better and better. Just give us the cars and make future ones available for download, that's the current trend and it makes the most damn sense. I don't want to bloody download AI when it's ready, and then have to download El Capitan when it's finally finished. This isn't even a real sequel for Chrissake.

I wonder if PD changed the traction control. I don't like how PD changed the traction control. I can't even do donuts in GT4 like how I use to do my AWD donuts in GT3.

Speaking of Xbox Live -- I know that you can use a credit card to buy the "points" that have to be used to download extra content for 360 games (although some things are free), but isn't it also possible to earn those same points by playing the games?

From what we've heard so far, GTHD and the PS3 don't seem to have anything similar to that, although it would certainly lessen the blow if they did. :indiff:

^ This, my friends, is why the "microtransaction" system is a sham. Well put, PjotrStroganov. 👍

I've heard of this, but I have never seen it.:indiff:

-> Since this topic opened up and read replies after replies, I don't see on why people are panicking about this "microtransaction" thing. All I can say is this, GT HD is purely a test mule system, I'll be more worried if this was GT5. If some GT fan doesn't agree on what PD is doing right now, then theres the door and get Forza 2 or GTR2 or don't buy GT HD altogether. As for me, I'll wait till the real GT5 comes out (if I still don't have any internet connection). I may get GT HD (if I have internet) because I like to test drive this "prolouge" before the real game comes out and be not in shock and awe when GT5 is out. (:

-> I'm already happy and satisfied on what PD has been doing so far one baby step at a time. Some said Ferrari is an impossible feat for GT/PD, but here comes Ferra (maybe I have to re-edit my sig to LamPorMas{Lamborghini, Porsche, Maserati}). But who knows, maybe someday all this griping will be solved way before GT5 (Complete) comes out. (:

This may have all been posted before, but I don't want to read through 23 pages of... :odd: :boggled: :banghead:    :irked: :dunce: ...stuff

i probably won't be able to afford a ps3 until gt5 comes out, then I will also have to buy an HDTV that supports 1080p. This is going to be an expensive game.
As far as GT:HD is concerned, it's like a beta test. I don't really care about it's features. I'm really not even considering buying it, but it's interesting to see hints of GT5. Great graphics and with the addition of Ferrari, my hopes have been raised for Lamborghini and especially Porsche. (i hope i hope i hope :nervous: )

from http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/sony/liveblogging-the-gran-turismo-hd-press-event-202771.php

...Kaz says the hope to support damage models at the start of next year. (I assume this means no damage in HD unless there's a later downloadable update)

This damage model will, in theory, affect the visuals, the physics, the drivability, the integrity of the car.

"Implementing damage, the biggest hurdle was obviously dealing with auto manufacturers. The philosophies from manufacturers is starting to gradually change. The best compromise at this point is to model damage to racing cars and not yet to consumer level cars."
and good news for you ferrari nuts...
They hope to add more cars from the Ferrari line up, including older models, but won't be including Formula 1 models.
and more...
What's the purpose of creating a GT5 if you can just download new content to GT:HD Premium?

Kaz: We sell Gran Turismo in over a hundred countries and there will be territories that have not adapted as quickly as the US and Japan to internet service. For that reason we have to have a packaged product (👍).

btw, this is my first post ever on gtplanet :D
and yes, i like smileys...
:dopey:

Kazunori Yamauchi said in an interview that GTHD purchases wouldn't be "wasted," and that all GTHD purchases would transfer over to GT5:
IGN.com
Famitsu also scored commentary from Yamauchi on a variety of Gran Turismo topics. The producer joked that the upcoming GT HD download service would be like iTunes, referring to it as a GT Tunes. He also provided some relief for those worried about the expense of downloading cars and tracks for GT HD. Polyphony hopes to make content that has been downloaded for GT HD available for use in the next GT.
Let me ask you this -- if GT5 is going to include all of the cars from the get-go, what would be the point of transferring your GTHD purchases? :dopey:

If some GT fan doesn't agree on what PD is doing right now, then theres the door and get Forza 2 or GTR2 or don't buy GT HD altogether.

Why should a long-time fan of a racing game series be forced to "jump ship" to an inferior (Forza) series, or a series that has nowhere near as much content (GTR), just because the company that controls their favorite series decided that it wanted to rip people off?

As far as I am concerned, this is just the tip of the questions and implications iceberg.

What happens if SONY just up and says something like, "We're not going to allow migration of content that you bought in the past, to newer versions of this game. Sorry!" If you sink hundreds of dollars into buying content and then, at some point, they make another wholesale change to their marketing scheme, you're toast. Or, rather, your investment is toast.

How many new generations will they allow old content you buy for today's versions now to migrate forward? Buy once, and keep forever? That would help soften today's major financial blow, but there will be no guarantees this will ever happen.

Cheers,

MasterGT

micro transactions= suck.

"lookie here, gimme fifty cents and i will give you the evo10, add another ten cents, i will throw the tires in as well"
sounds like a school bully to me.

if all of the datas are stored in the hdd, and suddenly ur hdd is corrupted and needs formatting, then do we have to rebuy everything?

another thing, lets just say we 'go along this microtransaction' thing'..then PD will say,

"okay, you can buy a special tuner package bla bla bla.."

in the end, its not skilled driver who wins, its the richest.

this sucks.big time.

this sucks.big time.

Well...that is realistic LOL ;)

BTW I would like to remind you people that GT5 is still a long way off, and the screenshots of GT5 (full PS3 power) are obviously very early. Some parts of the track look terrible (the flat looking trees) and its obvious this game is still very early. So only expect the graphics to improve VERY much over the next 18 months. 👍 Car models look like what I expected from GT5. Now if they can get 20 of them on track at once with weather and night-day shifts PD has created the best racing game ever hands down.

Let me ask you this -- if GT5 is going to include all of the cars from the get-go, what would be the point of transferring your GTHD purchases?
Best case scenario, gt5 comes like GT4 but all your hd cars are in sim mode immediately when you start gt5 like credit/license carryforward. There is wiggle room there to stay away from the sky falling.

if all of the datas are stored in the hdd, and suddenly ur hdd is corrupted and needs formatting, then do we have to rebuy everything?
any capable company wouldn't allow this. You'll have a username type system that you own your downloads on and if you had to you could probably redownload all for free because you do own the license to use all the stuff you paid for.

in the end, its not skilled driver who wins, its the richest.
👎
the driver with 80 cents wins? Assuming you enter balanced races that won't be a problem at all. It might be a problem if there are tournament rewards for entering a multitrack series or rewards for winning with multiple car types but for a single race you are fine with <5 dollars invested.
