Buuuut, if the game is not as good and comes for free(or for about 5 euros), wouldn't you be tempted to at least buy some stuff online? I'm thinking this is part of Sony's plan. To make it almost too easy to buy something online so that a very large percentage of PS3 owners at least has bought something for the game.
Well, you see, I'm not buying a PS3 unless GT HD has what I just talked about, so if it's not that good, I'm not buying a PS3 at all, period.

Well, your call. GT HD and GT5 will support the GT25, and even GT HD classic will be an improvement upon GT4, more cars on the track and better image quality for a start. GT HD Premium may also offer weather effects and daylight changes. Online updates my also see damage along with extra cars. I think the high cost will be worth it. "Do I really want that track?" "yeah, why not" will ensure me spending more than I anticipate.

Special Stage Route 5 by day and New York by night anyone? Is Special Stage Route 11 going to return in an update do you think?

What I mean by this is the following. I was annoyed by these in GT4 (very annoyed actually):

- loading times between menus
- not enough selection of exotic sportscars/supercars
- very bad AI

Anyway, basically they'll have to get an online mode that's as enjoyable as PGR3 at the very least which was pretty enjoyable, or like maybe Live For Speed which is like the best. If it's not as good, then I'm not buying into it.

Well, loading times will be reduced by a lot. The 2006 E3 PD GTHD video found here someplace explains that.

There will be fifty new cars added to the game. No word what they'll be, yet.

The AI will be exactly the same. Also not changing is how a car handles.

At least you get online racing.

The GTHD Premium should have new AI, car handling, graphics, Ferraris, etc.

Loading times = You have to watch the GT: HD footage, but load times were pretty much non-existant. Everything took under 2 seconds at the longest.

Supercars - You'll be able to download them, as PD will be updating with more cars monthly, or bimonthly.

AI - Who needs AI when you can race against leader boards and other opponents online? Both are going to be in GT: HD.

Well, remains to be seen how good online is. It's not gonna be good as Live For Speed that's for sure, but if it's better than like PGR3's online, then I may buy it. If it's as bad as TOCA 3, then yuck.

yeah, but once we get GTHD Premium and hence GT5, graphics are almost done update-wise, it's time to focus on that oh-so-sketchy physics engine. Ironically I seem to recall the GT2 engine being better, more basic, but more realistic!

Hear hear! An improvement in the physics engine is my #1 hope for GTHD:Premium/GT5. It will make or break my decision to eventually buy GT5 when the PS3 falls to a reasonable price.

Improvements over GT4 with GTHD? Let me offer my views.

* Longer loading times between menus...
I actually got used to it. Now if you're talking about GT3's menu loading vs. GT4 menu loading, then yeah. The wait isn't too long for me.

* Not enough supercars and exotics...
Typical "fanboyism." Always wanting what's not in the game. Commercials for "Test Drive: Unlimited" state that TDU is the biggest leap in gaming design since Gran Turismo. I don't know if it's because of only supercars, illegal street racing, and high-dollar lifestyle, or what. Anyhow, GTHD should be your fix for supercar/exotic cravings since Ferrari's with PD. It's too early now to judge anything as new content will likely be featured. We know Ferrari will be included. What kinds and what models are still in the dark.

* Bad AI...
Well, at least it's better than "ToCA Race Driver 3." I've b:censored: my ass off about the AI in this game like my voice is insignificant compared to all the GT4 complaints on AI. I'm a racing game veteran. My racing game experience probably went as far back as I was a fourth grader playing "R.C. Pro-Am" on the NES. Now it's with Gran Turismo 4 and stuff. But what if you don't have online play? You can't say that online play completely eliminates any AI questions if the person in question doesn't (1) have a suitable connection or (2) considers himself/herself an online participant. So the game has to be good on its own before you worry about connecting online against others. What's the point of an online-enabled or multiplayer game if the game isn't good in single player? Think of "25 to Life." It was seen more as a game where gangs and the law could get together in a frenzied battle. But as it turns out, it's pretty weak with you TRYING to find people to play against. It's one of the few times where I actually gave in to expectations as they were completely unfulfilled.

Other than that, it should be great for those who have an online connection, a PS3, and a TV to play it on. Now on to Physics. Wolfe2x7 was talking about physics. Him and I like Enthusia for the physical aspect of everything. I'm calling it a surprise racing game. It only seems like crap when you are just looking at it. You have to play the game and explore that this game will actually surprise you vs. GT4 and Forza. So I guess anything like Enthusia in terms of physics would be a plus for this thing. Of course, GTR has been the more superior in console vs. PC.

Actually, it's because TDU is the first massively-multiplayer racing game. The only other game I can think of that's anything like it is Motor City Online (a spin-off of the Need for Speed series), but even MCO had server lists, lobbies, and the interface of an "ordinary" online game.

An MMORG if you like, lol. I prefer single player racing for now, although I did have a whale of a time playing Live for Speed online, even if for all the wrong reasons.

Quick question - I'm not sure if it has been answered yet: will GT Premium contain the same Physics Engine to GT4 or will we be seeing the first of what the driving will be like in GT5?

I'm pretty sure it was said that the premium part will be like a teaser to GT5 in all respects including physics. Whether the GTHD update for GT4 will have better physics, I sure hope so :(

We don't know for certain but I'd put an 80% chance on GT HD Premium using a new physics engine and a 98% chance of GT HD Classic using the old physics engine.

PD also mentioned available downloads "in the future" for GT premium in terms of downloading new physics engines, damage models, etc....They are supposed to gradually improve each time it becomes available to download....but it remains to be seen because we don't even know all of the facts about this game...we'll just have to wait until it's released, or PD decides to tell us everything straight up.

   downloadable physics engines? sound kinda far-fetched to me, but it may work.

oh, and btw, is it me, or am i the only one with the feeling that GTHD won't be ready for 'spring 2007' release date??

Why is that far fetched, it wouldn't be the first game to have a physics engine that get's updated over time via downloads.

I think physics engine is heart of this kind of game. New physics engine ,new game.:indiff:

i hope this downloading and upgrading thing is not leading to pc kind 0.005 beta relases.

GT:HD pretty much IS a beta. Like GT4:Prologue was for GT4, GT5 shouldn't be like that but if an aspect of the game can be cleared up after release there's no reason they should release an update or patch, just as long as the ability to do so doesn't compromise the initial package we get by leaving more bugs in than we'd otherwise get.

I think this GT:HD Classic/Premium is more or less like GTC and GT4:P in one disk (after GT3 - before GT4). So I also think that there won't be any upgrades or patches until the release of GT5. Oh well ... PD wants fans busy (and spending money) with "half made games" until they release a full new one ... that isn't new.

And they're smart, because we (at least, the PAL folks) bought GTC and GT4:P, and we'll also buy GT:HD.

Kaz has already said he'll be updating GT:HD Premium a lot and mentioned that he has both physics, AI and hopefully damage updates that will be available as they're done.

Pardon this newbie question, but... what exact "items" are for dowload? What are we talking about- actual tuning parts for cars from licensed companies? Color schemes for cars? What? I'm talking about the "4,500 itams to download" as part of the GTHD presentation.
