Very sure. It's just happened to my brother and his mate. Missed a pre-booked train to Leeds, hence Shenfield (not far from London) to Bradford will cost him and his mate a grand total of £221. Single. Even with the missed connection, total journey time is only going to be about 6 1/2 hours, GT lasts a bit longer than that!

I was just making a quip about how slow our trains are now, that GT4 can last longer than them...

As for GT4 lasting a lot longer, sure, but for a game it didn't last long enough.
Err... I've played everything in GT4 other than the endurance races, and that lasted me a little over a year. Now admittedly I did some money races so I could buy a few cars, like the four black LeMans cars at day 690, but still!

How long did Live For Speed last with its 19 cars and 9 tracks, mostly fantasy content, sold to the tune of almost $45 US - the same price as the speculated GTHD content by the way?

How long should GT4 have taken to complete 100%?? Two years? As long as the XBox lasted, 4.5 years? As long as the PS1 lasted, 11 years? ;)

There's one thing I know. I played GT3 several times more than I played GT4. The difference is at about 3 years of playing GT3 (I was always returning to it, and did several careers) and 3 months of playing GT4 (got the first career to 85%+, and that was it).

I still play Live for speed, I still play GTR and GTL, I don't still play GT4. I got LFS well before GT4 came out and I got GTR shortly after. Quantity doesn't make quality, I'd much prefer GT4 to have had half as many cars and tracks if it was as enjoyable and immersive as LFS. As for the speculated GT:HD content prices, the speculated prices for if you want everything runs into the hundereds of pounds, not $45. Like I said, GT4 didn't last long enough. I've tried getting back into it a couple of times this year but I just can't. I played all three previous GT games a lot longer before getting tired of it that I've spent playing GT4, I think GT3 probably had me playing for the longest period.

Well, LFS isn't enjoyable to me. For one thing, even after a reinstall, my DFP won't work, and playing it with a controller is just awful. I did fuss around with it for a while and playing with the physics was fun. Oh wow was it fun. The cars can do astonishing superball maneuvers if you hit walls just right, and it becomes a pinball as it careens around the track bouncing off walls and obstructions. But for $45, I think I'd rather play a finished game which has quantity as well as quality, and runs as advertised.

You inevitably go back and forth between saying that GT4 is an outstanding game and saying it's too lame to mess with. But I'm used to it by now.

Frankly, I don't drag race, I don't drift, I don't touge, and I don't get some strange orgasmic thrill from doing donuts. However I DO love a game that recreates the feeling of being in a car - with a wheel controller that actually works with the game, always a plus, giving me hundreds of cars to collect is outstanding, and if I get to race them too, that's pretty much what I want for my birthday. And the fact that the game works right when I run it is always a good thing. So rather than mess with Simbin's weird copy protection hassles and installs of the quirky, overpriced LFS, I think I'll stick with Gran Turismo and Forza. Mostly Gran Turismo.

I haven't had issues with LFS and find the pinball thing hilarious, if unrealistic. But hey, I don't see it as a substitute for GT4, nor a bad game, just a completely different league.

It's a decent pinball... sorry, couldn't resist. ;)

It is a decent PC game for what it is, a WIP. What I could get out of the physics was pretty cool. Mostly it was the collision physics because the camera system was not to my liking, and of course playing with a hand controller isn't very satisfying or involving. Not to mention that with my PS2-like hand controller, all it did was ruin the tires, so mostly I gave up on racing and just tested collision behavior.

But even if it did work right... $45 for a game that looked about as good as Toca 3 and had a handfull of mostly fantasy cars and tracks? Ehh... some people love it, but it's just not for me.

I respect GT4 for what it as, as a car collectors game it's the best out there, it just seriously loses the plot when you hit the race track. Imo the races arn't fun, the cars physics are flawed in ways that I notice and don't like so just driving and hot lapping isn't that great either. The AI is frankly awful so close races become a constest of bumper cars. GT4 does not make me feel like I'm driving a real car round a real track, but neither does LFS for that matter. However LFS, GTR, GTL and RFactor all feel a lot closer to the real thing imo by a long shot. I don't drag race, drift race or spend countless minuets doing donuts either, and I do love a game that immerses me. Hence the reason I prefer LFS, GTR, GTL and RFactor over GT4 when it comes to driving the cars. I find all four of thoes games far more enjoyable. As for comparing Gran Tuismo to another game and talking abou tthe collision detection, Gran Turismo is one of the worst when it comes to that, and you are really clutching at straws there. If you ping pong round a track in LFS frankly your crap at the game and I have no qualms about saying that to someone,as for the game not working with your DFP that sound's like either somethings messing with your logitech drivers or the drivers themselves arn't installed properly.

Well, I did install the Logitech drivers recommended at the website. But frankly, I'd miss the ease of using Forza's excellent paint shop, along with the excellent supercars it has, as well as GT4's camera and driving system, and immense list of cars I'm still collecting. And damage and collision dynamics are not what I look for in a racing game. That's just you. As for bot A.I., if you want an example of awful, there's Forza for you.

Oh, and I do respect real racing games for what they are. So outside of NFS:Slamfest and Burnout, they all usually offer something of interest.

So, that's nice you have your choice and I have mine.

Haven't seen this posted before.
Interview with KY from CVG.

Have you decided which two tracks will feature in GT HD Premium, and can you give us a hint as to what they will be.

KY: The first one is the track you see on the demo, based on Mount Eiger in Switzerland and Germany. As for the other one, the only hint we can give you is that it is on the continent of North America.

With this info from the Famitsu interview...the other track is maybe a NEW city course in North America!?
It comes with 2 courses (both original and new, city and nature) and 30 cars including new ones.

Mind the language mate, not much has been officially confirmed yet either ou might want to wait for official details before actually deciding if you are going to buy it or not.

From the article:

ill it be possible for users to create their own cars and tracks?

KY: Eventually - somewhere down the road-map - we would like to enable players to create things and share them. Maybe we could start with modification parts like aero kits and so on, but that's down the line. This goes back to what we were talking about earlier, concerning the GT HD community. We will be able to design and create races and organise those races - these will be the official GT events. Participating team members will be able to use the Race Builder and whatever tools we make available. Many car manufacturers have their own one-make racing series, like the Clio Cup and so on. Within the big picture of the GT HD community, even the manufacturers will be able to take advantage of the system and to organise their own races if they wish.

Also, this platform will enable manufacturers to experiment, or even do a little bit of research with feedback from users. Let's say there is a group of people on the Nurburgring track, having fun, and manufacturer brand A decides: "OK, I have this new car; I'm not going to announce anything. I'll let it appear at Nurburgring, run around for a couple of laps and disappear." People will talk about it, ask each other if they saw it, and feedback to the manufacturer will be very important.

How cool would that be? Seeing a concept or prototype car before anyone else in the world via GT5/GTHD:tup:

Ooh, is that a Gran Turismo helmet on his monitor??

Well heck... original and new, city and nature...?

Would Eiger be considered nature? New or original, since Switzerland doesn't host pro racing anymore?

Would city imply something like Seattle or New York? If Polyphony wanted to show off some graphic candy, New York would be a safe bet. Would country mean something like Laguna Seca? Or would Polyphony want to give us another new track??

Each day is a new cool revelation.

DraggingSlayer – As live4speed said, please mind the language. Profanity, even if filtered, is very strongly discouraged here.

I don't know but if I recall correctly both Amalfi and Citta Di Aria were in the city tracks section in GT4. My guess would be that Eiger would be classed as a city or original track provided that the tracks are classed thoes ways.

Maybe I mis-read, but I thought the track we've been seeing is the Nature track, and the City track is the N. America continent.

Being it's new as that is the report, what other cities in the US could have race course in them? Houston, perhaps?

Now that would be utterly strange! But incredible.

I'm hoping that scarce new content doesn't come out, where a lucky few get certain cars that no one else does. This is a bit like the easter egg black cars stuck in GT4, but not quite. Those are simply unpainted. Unique cars with enhanced features, special performance mods, paint jobs or bodykits would irk me if I couldn't recreate them or something similar. Hopefully that won't be the case.

Like I said, Amalfi and Aria were both "city" tracks in GT4. Unless I've missed something I think it's an assumption to say that what we've seen so far is the nature track, though it would sem a logical one. The city track could be New York, or it could be another totally new track.

McLaren: Houston?? Not with cattle!!

Just kidding, I hadn't thought of Houston. I was contemplating Miami or Toronto since both host races, but Houston would be just as cool.

Uhm.. if you read correctly I think that BOTH tracks are called original and new, 1 nature and 1 city. The nature obviously is The Eiger Nordwand the other would be a City track in North America.

Yep, I think it would be classed under the original just as the El Capitan from GT4.

I smell bias. :D

Pretty much any city in America can have a race course. It just comes down to imagination.

Ya caught me. I was thinking of Dallas, but there isn't a racetrack near by and no one seems to like ovals though I enjoy TMS.

But yes, places like Miami wouldn't be bad. I like the fact of driving on a fictional track in actual Miami.:)

About just how much space would all those cars and tracks take in the PS3 hard drive?

Using an educated guess the absolutly worst cast scenario is the cars are 4mb and the tracks are 30mb each

So 4mb x 500 cars is 2 gigs

30mb x 40 tracks is 1.2gig

Around 3 gigs worst cast scenario

edit: that would be my best educated guess at GT premium content. GT Classic should take up much less space then that

so
